I remember seeing the Faith band play this song. Awesome then, awesome now!
As an Indiana resident I had the pleasure of seeing them as the Chosen Few then as Faith Band. Even remember remember seeing Carl in the hallways at school as he was the rock star then.
Loved Nigel when he was with Uriah Heep, actually. But Carl & the guys win with the more evocative read on his own song. Oh man, Faith was HOT! I used to listen to them in their former incarnation. Limousine. Then 'NAP spun "Sometimes, Sometimes" & "Freedom" into my heart. I DO wish their Terry Knight-helmed (he of Grand Funk fame) "debut LP on Brown Bag Records was released on CD! I mean if Primevil's "Smokin' Bats" can make then... Indy didn't know it had it so good.
i have known carl and dave bennet.and dave barns and terry sence the early 70's.
the night befor they went to l.a to do the mix down of the lp. we were at the towers.
i was playing there.and had to leave for florida the next day myself.we had a good time talking i had heard them do the song a number of times befor they went to do the lp.so they wrote the song .nigel was in the studio as they were doing the mix down thats how it happened.

Living just south of Indianapolis, I never even heard the Nigel Olsson version until recently because the Indy radio stations only played the Faith Band version. The Faith Band version is by far the best! I heard Carl Storie and the Faith Band in concert and they were really great! Thanks for posting!
You tubers have no idea that this was one of the finest live bands of it's time. Totally first class. This was their bid for well deserved stardom thwarted by a genuine idiot of a manager....
@Scoobysnack1965. Nigel was in Elton John's record company. That record company probably produced more records that was available to radio stations and stores across the USA. Advertisers like to put money on songs for radio play from a well-known personality or record company than the song itself. Carl Storie version was played in Indianapolis and some in the midwest alot. But in the whole United States, Nigel was. I agree with you this version is better.
Great band that should have gotten more acclaim.

Faith Band rocks. Carl Storie wrote it so it is a Faith Band song.

The Faith Band sounds better. Nigel Olsson #8 -vs- Faith Band #54? Doesn't makes sense. Faith Band hands down.
