No doubt we shouldn't discuss interracial relationships in schools either. 10% of the human race is gay, not sure if that includes bisexuals like myself. This hatred of people who are different is 100% fueled by religion, I say we need to protect children from religion as it is in the business of preaching hatred at others who don't share their view of the world.
@Zed1967 yeah, except that being black isn't anywhere near being the same as being gay, and i find it offensive when people equate the historic treatment of blacks to the modern gay agenda movement. look, your race is who you are. your sexuality is something you do; it's conduct. you can't be properly judge someone based just on race, but you can judge someone based on their conduct (conduct like sexuality). oh, and heterosexual interracial relationships are still one man and one woman.
But Id still think Id feel a bit queezy and uncorfomtable if my 5th grader child was reading books about gay people. I mean Im not trying to sound homophobic here and I apologise if I do but Im sure there are countless other guys here who would feel the exact same and I personally think that sexual orientation should be a decision of the child without inducing the child into some kind of indoctrination. If anything teach kids to respect human beings as a whole and thats it.

The Ocean has the potential to harm children......but, I lived next to one, so it never seemed like a big deal. The Ocean seemed very scarey to the tourists who had never been exposed to it.
The most damaging forced indoctrination I ever endured as a child was in Church. Never from a book.
I don't think this would help the gay community at all. What's important is to first and foremost recognize the individual for his or her accomplishments. Sexual orientation is not an issue. For example, if a man or a woman donates 20 million to charity, what's more important, the fact that they donated money or their sexual orientation?
This bill will only serve to label people and categorize them. It's wrong, childish, immoral and ignores the most fundamental point.
@b1rdkeeper So let me ask you this: for a kid who is at school struggling with his sexuality and thinking there is not a good future for a gay kid who is bullied daily or reminded by biggots like Pat Robertson and the whole church that they will go to hell, you think its not important to let him know that there are PLENTY successful gay people who have accomplished wonderful things in their life?
Black-- what does that mean?
