Im running the light board for this show right this weekend at my school. its pretty good, but surpirsed me cause its so racey. Weve done Disney for the last two years. I dont know why you guys are saying theres so many light cues and its so hard, one of the easist shows weve ever done. A lot of our sets just use the same lighting though, so thats prolyl why.

hey at least you have a pit our schools theatre is horrible. the main curtain is grey and filled with mol and stains. we have hardly anywings and there no way we can get to the other side of the stage without breaking procinium so we have to make everything play out from the left side of the stage. Its so bad its not even funny

My high school did this for a musical last November ('07). I was on stage crew for it, and it rocked. I did spotlights (which I was actually decent at). Hernando's Hideaway was the song from hell for lights people though. Seriously, try finding people wearing black in pitch black darkness within five seconds and be able to correctly aim a spotlight. And there were SO many light changes, I felt sorry for the general lights person and the stage director who had to cue her.

kelli o'hara is so amazing in this! I love how she's versatile enough to go from something like light in the piazza to this classic 1950's broadway belter style and sounds great doing both. you would never think she was an opera major watching this.

It might be the fact that I am so used to my friends as Babe and Sid, but I wasn't a huge fan of this version "there once was a man" The facial expressions were just strange, but hey, its broadway...

I'm not denying the fact that they deserve to perform on broadway, its just they sonded way different than I'm used to.

Oh the movie sucked! I love movie musicals but I thought the PG was horrendous as a movie. I honestly was nervous about seeing this new stage version based on the movie, but it was AMAZING. The whole scene at Hernando's where Harry plays the piano fits into the show just fine, there is a ton of comedy before he plays that was left out of the Tony performance

I saw both this and Todd...this was much better. Because it actually brought something new and fresh, not just in concept, but the story was altered for logic. Mabel introduces the Hideaway, not Gladys, lines were changed, the music was amped up (not down) and it was just a better time. LuPone in Todd was on auto-pilot.

I was in a mini-version of this show fora festival. It ran 30 minutes on a good day and we cut out a bunch of songs...but I still cannot stand how bad this version of Hernando's Hideaway is. This song was written as a Tango...not ... whatever this is you cannot sing Tango to a ...swing? beat...grrr...but the performance itself was amazing!
