  • This is a wrong way to do it! a first aider must look at the victim's situation... if he\she is chocking while they're standing you should help them to cough by telling them to do so and position your foot between the victim's feet so that you give the victim support in case they pass out.. next, position your hand fist above their navel and push in and up.. do it until what's inside gets out.

  • This is so wrong...they didnt explain the correct positioning. she is standing with her two feet together. she should have one foot between the victims feet, so that if the victim falls down, the first aider can support her. Second, you should look for the victims bellybotton and position your fist ABOVE it, grab the fist with the other hand and give the abdominal thrests. keep the elbows outward...if you keep them close to her body, you can break her ribs by the pressure.

  • If i may add, if the person choking is pregnant or obese, you could use chest thrust instead of upward abdominal thrusts. Its a good vid but using back blows to dislodge the obstruction depends might cause the object to go further down the trachea..at least that is what i know. lol

  • haha

    btw yay pakiness. lol

  • forget the tape ... thats absolutly iresponsable !! my mother is a med ... she told me to never do that !!!

  • if it saves someone's life it is definitely NOT irresponsible.

you do, however, run the risk of breaking a rib - however it is always best to be able to live than it is to have a broken rib (which can be fixed).

  • yes,sometimes it doesn't work,but in their red cross,it's quite correct.

  • Isn't she suppose to put her leg between the victim's leg in case that the victim might fall unconscious. Also, the rescuer had no communication with the victim.

  • Wasn't back blows removed from chocking procedure, as it was shown to have the possibility of lodging the object further down the trachea?

    Great videos, though :)

  • Choking not chocking

  • It kinda seems like she's attacking her. I mean, if you were to look at it from a different angle or something.

  • azeqsdwxc13579, it doesn't matter what colour your skin is, a human is a human and would receive exactly the same first aid treatment. Learning this would probably prevent embarrassment later in your life.

Anyway, thank you for the video, BritRedCross, you never know when it may come in handy. :)
