  • my god at the corsettes.

  • delightful, talented and beautiful

  • Oh, baby, two of the very best!

  • My grandmother's cousin born in Nashville.

  • Press 1

for the "I got Rhythm dance"

    :D

  • I've got a feeling that Dinah Shore is more impressed by Peggy Lee than vice versa.

Both great though. Better than the leading ladies of today.

  • @NKcell89

    she's probably just more modest

  • It's funny how we can sometimes see ghosts where none are likely to dwell. Neither of the two moments that you point out show any mistakes on the part of either singer.

  • awesome stuff

  • This is great!

  • The wonderful Dinah. She was LOVED in the Hollywood community until the end.

  • Dinah forgot the words and recovered - and then instantly changed her interpretation of the song to be consistent with the style of the verse she forgot. That's stage presence. Formed in the forge of live TV where you have one take to do it right. Nice chops, Dinah.

  • @rlholo Is that why the little giggle at 2:13?

  • @namchild I was thinking of 0:28 but it seems they bumped into each other later on a few times too. Seems like about 2:29 you can see a big smile come over Dinah's face... like she's thinking: "Holy crap, we made it through the unrehearsed section - now let's kick it up a notch and nail the ending... Old-School Live TV... not much time to rehearse... they just kind of had to go out there and make it happen. Something fun about that; kind of like reality TV only with talented people ;-)

  • @rlholo oh yeah i see now, there's something similar at 1:01 where she reverts to "Starlight" - BUt the fact that I didn't notice something was missing to you pointed it out def shows a good performer who can carry it seamlessly.

  • @rlholo You are right about "Old School TV". Probably not much time to rehearse. This makes it all the more "real" and not staged. One thing I've noticed about Peggy when she does a duet, that she never tries to "upstage" the other singer. I've noticed some upstaging by other artists of that era.

  • Two real pros.

  • You can't find ladies like these anymore. Today all you find is tattooed, classless sluts who'll spread their thighs for anything coming their way.

  • @AuH2O You've got that right! Where is the fitting harmony within this Jazz tune? Only to be done right with class acts like Peggy and Dinah! odantoro,I agree with Peggy's dress!!

  • Peggy's dress is a knockout. Perfect.

  • @odantoro Yes!! And she's a class act.The Best!

  • Medley of three songs here-

    I Got Rhythm

    I Got Plenty of Nothin

    Fever

  • wow to wonderful singers !!!!

  • I watch this video pretty much every other day and not tired of it all..

  • Dorthy Dandridge does it better.

  • Comment removed

  • @sookiestackhouse2u I'm sorry if you were offended. Dinah and Peggy can sing too I just thought Dorthy sung it better. That's just my opinion.

  • @sookiestackhouse2u When was it ever stated that Dorothy Dandridge did it better because she's black?

  • voice perfect

  • What a complex arrangement! I love it love it love it! You go girls!

  • Two Classy Beautiful Entertainers, sure isn't like most of todays so called entertainers.

  • At the end the chorus and orchestra kind of take over and kind of drown out the their voices but until then it's WOW. Smooth, solid rhythm all the way.

  • i got plenty of nothing and plenty of nothing got I...oh Dinah and Peggy...you got everything!!!

  • real female beauty :O

  • STUNNING TALENT!!!

  • Thanks for posting this because I never knew the talent of this lady until now. She had feeling and could really sing. I only knew about her in her later years with her TV show and Burt Reynolds and various golf games. Not that that was a bad thing.

    She could sing great.

  • Aunt Dinah you're the best!

  • Dinah Shore has a better voice than Peggy Lee

  • WOW, SHORE IS SO SEXY

  • I like how Peggy managed to make a subtle reference to her "Fever"...

  • HELL YES, DINAH AND PEGGY !!!!

  • Gotta love the big band loved it when I was a kid love it till I die this is one classy dame keep posting the good real tunes.

  • let me hear that rhythm in the morning...awesome!!!!!!

  • Wow, two of the best singers ever from the US. I reckon we will never see talent like this ever again, which is just too bad.

  • These ladies could sing a telephone directory and make it wonderful - they make it look so easy sometimes one does not appreciate the quality of these voices and their utter professionalism - brava. Thank you so much for sharing

  • omg i just cryed im only 40

  • God, Dinah was gorgeous and a voice to match. I need to buy more of her albums.

  • That was great!

You can tell that Dinah Shore is having a lot of fun with this number.

  • Is that all there is?

  • Live television, folks. Preserved on Television Tape for West Coast playback.

  • Most people don't realize just how much color broadcasting went on in the 50's. The current system of color television was introduced to the market in1954. An earlier system was in place before that. This is an excellent example of the former. Makes it seem like it was not so long ago huh.

  • Could someone, WITH FACTS!, give me an answer. Someone who worked in the

business in whatever capacity who knows. Were the vocals recorded earlier then

lip-synched with the band towing the line. It makes no difference to me; I'm 18

and to me Big Band/Hit Parade music is treasure. But TV is as it has always

been; ie saving money on tech-production costs.

  • @thestonereadsJane They used a boom mike. Sometimes tracks were prerecorded if there was lots of choreography, but if they were just standing and singing, as is the case here, with minimal movement, there was a live orchestra and a boom mike over both Dinah and Peggy, just out of camera range, and they sang live.

  • @thestonereadsJane I worked on television in the early days and in the beginning shows were "live", no tape, no film and performers did it right the first [and only] time. Kinescope was introduced to "record" some of the shows. Later things got better with film, then videotape but singers sang, dancers danced and actors emoted. Film and tape of course allow for editing out the bad mistakes but "live" TV was really a test of the performers real talent.

  • its gets better when judy garland sings it !!!

  • Дайна-прекрасна.

  • remind anyone of amy swinehouse ?

  • "1234,1234,1234 tapping your feet. 1234,1234,1234 aint that sweet" priceless man just priceless

  • "I got

    you got

    she got

    we got

rhythm rhythm rhythm rhythm rhythm rhythm"

I love that part! I love Peggy Lee. she is wonderful.

    They are both brilliant singers.

  • From "The Dinah Shore Chevy Show," May 17, 1959

  • Perfection

  • Dinah was one of the prettiest singers, in my opinion more attractive than Deborah Harry. I wish she would have recorded songs in the 1960s.

  • Two great singers forming great harmony. It doesn't get any better than this.

  • NICE !

I believe this is one of the treasures of 20th-century.

  • both classy ladies love them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the female celbs need to be like them

wtf is goin on in are world wit music

  • WONDERFUL, AMAZING, BRILLIANT!!!
