  • i never knew wuling was partner of gm

  • You can drive them on the road in AZ. Register them as an ATV, you get a motorcycle plate.

  • This gives me heartache because it reminds me of my Subaru Libero that got stolen; that little sucker was tank. Lutz implies that a market for these Kei Trucks doesn't exist in the states, which means he clearly isn't aware of the thriving business of importing them and selling them for commercial and agricultural use. You can buy a brand new one at various dealerships in California right now; you just can't drive it on a road, is all.

  • copy of a Japanese kei truck only bigger

  • Sadly, this is the future of vehicles for American shores, unsafe cheaply made, just as were the Hyundais and early Japanese products, and with them go more American jobs. At an average monthly industrial wage of $200 Chinese manufacturing is tearing the heart out of the United States.

  • @kassandrasduplex Should have made a better car from the get go and no one would be in this position in the first place. America wanted a bunch of gas guzzling pieces of shit. You got what you paid for.

  • @SUPERAPE22 Chrysler started building in China during the Reagan Rust Bowl 1984, same time GM closed its Los Angeles factories near my home. GM has been building Chevys and Buicks in China for years. REASON: Average Chinese industrial monthly wage is $200. PER MONTH! Has ZERO to do with building better cars. BTW GM DID build better cars from the "get go". Read your history.

  • @SUPERAPE22 GM China has it sBEST sales IN CHINA selling the Buick and Chevrolet! THE NO.ONE selling vehicle I believe is a GM Buick built in China!! GM can build better cars, they just don't want to pay UAW workers what they are worth! So they go where the average labor rate is $200 per month. Your comment is ridiculously flawed! IF GM CAN'T BUILD A QUALITY CAR THEN WHY DO THE CHINESE PREFER THE BUICK AS THEIR FAVORITE CAR??? Fool.

  • LOL

Wu Ling Sunshine... Please tell me you're joking!

Bahaha, Chinese cars have the funniest friggin names!

  • to those wo say this id FWD Ive seen many closely and have a rear differential so its rwd, cool for dropping a mazda Wankel on it

  • If Americans would learn to drive instead of worrying about surviving their own ignorance, there is no downside to this little vehicle. Well, other than having to actually move your arm in a circle instead of pushing a button at the drive-thru...

  • @marmc57

    Shift your own gears too!

  • it's useless

  • I wonder what the front impact thing is on this vehicle. I do like it. I think there should be more cars made like the smart roadster, but at a cheap affordable price for the masses.

  • I m Chinese, I just want to say this truck is low price, useful and with not bad quality to drive in China. Some of you guys say this is shit, actually i want to tell you, not one push you to buy it. Chinese also don't like America track, big, big and big, bad ecolomice of oil, hard to parking in the city. in this age, ecolomice always important than other. why GM is close down? coz bad ecolomice and always build singel cam V8 or V6 engine then never make some new technology to the car. lazy!

  • Well it depends what youre comparing it to. It is a crap car, but it serves its purpose, so its also a great car in a different perspective.

  • 1:28

"The developed parts of Asia like Japan and Australia"

    Rofl

  • These types of mini-cab forward trucks are all over the world. Suzuki makes a ton of them, as do Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and a host of Chinese companies. They may look "too small", but they can be very practical for lighter usages(landscaping, basic maintenance, small deliveries, etc, etc). They are actually quite useful little vehicles.

  • I agree - if they werent so darn ugly I'd buy 1..... :)

  • CRAP!

  • 4 wheels isn't safer,now you just made a metal death trap

  • GAME OVER GM!!

this trucklike shit explains everything to us

    its a shame

  • yeah fuck this shit gm is going to shit just trying to stay in business

  • They use one of those at my school for grounds keeping its like a fourwheeler for the street

  • MR. Lutz is a very smart man. Although he was heavily criticized for saying that global warming was a crock of shit. He was actually was right. Its is. Notice this whole crap with people buying products thinking that they are saving the environment. No morons you are buying a promotional product for the company.

  • You are an idiot. Turn off Fox news and try thinking for yourself for a change. If Climate Change is a crock, then why does every reputable scientist who studies the climate say otherwise?

  • First off before you blow out at me. It technically is a crock of shit because of people saying it mainly being related to CO2 and that you should help by buying a green product to help counteract and "save our environment". This is a promotional scheme used by many. Co2 is not a primary greenhouse gas. There are other gases. Water vapor is the main ingredient that might not even be caused by us. Fact is we dont even know shit about our planet. We know more about the surface of mars that our own

  • good for you epidemic, too bad more people arent aware of the BS fed to us by the media/gov for monetary gain.

  • Man... Those things are crawling all over the philipines. I used to see them all the time when I lived in Lingyin.

If I could fit all 6"10 of myself into one, Id ride it just to freak out people at my work place.

  • meh...

  • waaay to small.

  • 0-60 283.5 years

  • This granpa is member of the old mafia in GM.

  • hahaha they have been making that for years in Japan. China just copied it like they copied everything else on the planet. Toyota Hi Ace truck.

  • 0 to 60 in one year XD

  • no it won't even get to 60..........

  • Nice...

    xD

  • if u hit the brakes really hard and the back is empty i think it will flip over lol

  • too bad this crap will fall apart in 3 weeks...

  • i kinda like the truck. the tailgate is ugly. for someone that has a short commute this would work.

  • i think i'm faster than that truck.

  • Automobile industry is split in two halves. The rich half and the poor half. In America we have both the rich half and the poor half.

  • dude you are so correct. the middle class is slowly disappearing. some of the rich have to remember that they depend on the middle class consumer.

  • apparently some of you clowns didnt understand what Bob said, I used the van version when I was in China and it was perfect for what we needed. Not everyone needs a BMW or some other over priced pile of crap.

  • everyone needs a bmw, for a healthy heart..

  • hahaha.

  • ...........its a uhhh...a little uhh.... front wheel drive...four cylinder.... uhh its basically the worst truck ever made...im retiring soon so i dont really care

  • I believe the idea behind it though is for cities and urban deliveries, etc. There, esp. with a lid, it makes a hell of a lot more sense than anything else.

  • axaxaxxaaxxa what is this shit.....japan forever

  • chinesse shit.....german.....american and japonesse cars ar the best......so...fuck the rest :D

  • go wuling!!!!!!!!!

  • you dont need to go to china for this piece of shit i go by it every day when i go to work

  • Americans are 6' tall not little midgets. We can't drive that pile of crap.

  • you can't go 80 on the highway with that death trap. That will suck for every one else.

  • Lets get every moron on the road with no safety. I FUCKING LOVE IT!

    Its increased Darwinism. Yes!

  • imagine yourself picking up a girl in that car for your first date.

  • Watch the video by Blink 182 called "First Date"

  • lol

  • This looks like if it got hit, it would fly like a rocket

  • DO they meet our safety standards if so than why not sell them in North America; there should be a demand for those on the low income sale for economical transporation. I would buy one, Mike Travaline, Toronto, ON, Canada

  • haha "consider the future success of general motors"

  • Too bad we free Americans are unable to purchase this neat little truck, due to government safety mandates and enviromental regulations. We would welcome this little basic little truck with open arms . The GM folks have continuously produced over size suvs and ridicously large 4wd drive pick ups that still get lousy gas mileage .This style of truck can get the job done in 95% of the rest of the world but not in the US. Thank You for keeping us safe Ralph Nader. NOT!!!

  • foolish car.

  • GM is presenting this as something 'new'? Cars like these have been around for decades, usually sold under the Daihatsu or Suzuki brands and equipped with little 800cc or 1000cc engines. They sure are cheap, but horrible to drive.

  • Hold on, GM used to sell crappy cars to developed nations and they lost a lot of money right? Now they think they can turn the company around by selling crappy cars to developing countries? Does that make sense?

  • china isn't developing..their economy is stronger than the US's right now

  • The mind set that items like this are unimportant is how the D3 got where they are today. GM has to move into every market. Over inflated egos need a reality check.

  • about time GM stopped selling $70k yank tanks to 96% of the rest of the world that doesnt want them. When you have a small business in asia you want cheap, simple, does the job.

  • HAHAHAHA ..

    This the future of GM.

    I have a question:

Why a boss or an owner of any kind of business will care wether the company truck is luxury or not??!! He is not the one who's driving it.

If they will sell this car in my country it will be popular for companies.

  • is saudi arabia? They only have luxury mercedes trucks over there, nothing less.

  • fahddoggz

You know nothing about Saudi Arabia

people who come from Europe and the U.S are always shocked of the percentage of luxury cars in my country.

S-class, 7-series and range rover are being sold here more than most of European countries.

  • You're an idiot and didnt understand what i was saying. BTW, I've been in all of middle east and lived in Dubai/Abu Dhabi for 15 years.

Thanks for perpetuating my joke even further. Yes they have S-class, 7-Series, range rover, porsche cayennes, ferrari F430's, Bugatti Veyron, and all kinds of other things. Congratulations. Yess you have a lot of oil and you can buy expensive cars, hooray. Our economy is based on more hard work, so we afford less percentage of those cars but more in quantity.

  • Very funny...hah

  • The zr1 in no competition this car would whoop that ass!

  • lol at civic interior + corvette flags on front.

  • LOL!

  • lol at 3:05, its explicite foreshadowing as to what will happen to Bob Lutz in a few years...you can also tell by the lassitude in his eyes...lol at him!

  • The design is from Daihatsu Hijet luton/ maxx pick-up truck... lol..

  • Like the guy in the video said, this car is primarily being used in developing countries where their expectations in cars is totally different than ours. For people who live in developing countries, this car can definitely meet or even exceed their expectations, it is affordable and practical by their standards.

  • looks like it would roll over easily

  • We don't want shit made for the chinese market, our standards are higher in the usa.

  • Mid-Engine! Woot! Woot! Put that thing around the Nurburgring! I call 8 minutes.

  • haaaaaaaaaa

  • Ok, ok I see the practicality in the developing world. BUT, there is no way I'm going to even consider buying that car here in America. If you've heard of the term "death trap", I think the Wuling Sunshine is a prime example of what a death trap really looks like. I'd feel more comfortable in a Mini Cooper than that. Good video.

  • He isn't talking about selling that car in America. America was only in the conversation because he was talking about the difference in the market for vehicles. The Wuling Sunshine is meant for developing/3rd world nations that, like he said, are primarily on two wheeled transport. Look for some pictures, you'll see a parade of tiny motorcycles with loads of chickens being driving around. This vehicle is for that type of person in that type of country.

  • I drove one to shuttle parts for aircraft. no need to spark up the 40ton yuke to go get a rivet gun...

  • Chinese products = cheap s***

  • sad thing is that it is the only thing you could afford, isn't it?

  • i bet that guy drove away for like ten feet then got in his vette zr1

  • this vehicle is used in china, by farmers for carrying their goods to markets, were they sell their daily gatherings to other people.

  • I would buy a Sunshine for running around the city.

  • Thanks for the comments everyone. We appreciate the feedback.

  • Did anyone actually watch the video it IS being sold to countries like China and India it may actually end up saving GM.

  • GM is doomed. This product shows how bad their marketing research team is. This piece of crap would not sell well even in those countries, least China. Go search Great Wall pickup track as a comparision, you will know what I mean.

  • why not a Ford Ranger? this is not more practical and it definatly isn't prettier, it's size doesn't matter even. Probably good for poor countries (tip to GM, Ford and Chrysler make lots of small dirt cheap cars and sell to poor crap countries! But for love of god not in US!) Japs, Indians and Chinese are pooping on the world!

  • See, now thats what a truck should be. People always say trucks are practical because "when I want to buy something, I can't, cause i have a truck"... As stupid as I think that sounds, its reality. This vehicle has the small engine needed for fuel economy(back and forth to work everyday) and the size capability of a full size truck. Thats all people need. Not these gas sucking V8's with 4 doors used only to carry one person around. This is the answer, like it or not.

  • I agree with the practical point, but this thing is fuck uglily.

  • Chinese cars sucks ass!!!

  • The day they suck dick, i'll buy one

  • ...pull out your checkbook then.

  • That just shows who much you don't know and/or aren't informed...

  • this old folk certainly knows nothing about China. We have tones of better pick up track with similar price. This is ...well I do not even know what it is. Looks like the kind of vehicle we produce 20 years ago. GM is really in desperation.

  • It features lead paint and is powered by 3 unwanted daughters that work for rice.

This is not going to save GM.

  • Nothing new there. Actually, there are trucks like that one being sold in the US, but they are not being used as basic transportation because the Government would not allowed it due to safety standards.

  • Subaru Sambar is much better

  • Bob Lutz = old shit.

if you get hit in that your D.O.A.

  • I'd love to see Hummers being traded in for Sunshines hahaha...

Bring your own crumple zones... i.e. your knees.

  • $3500 for a car?, I'd buy one..

  • I want 2, 3 if they put in a Diesel Engine and 5 if they go all electric.

  • there is already a dealer here in town of a vehicle that looks just like it but with a backseat

  • so are they going to make somthing like tht

  • austrailia is now part of asia ?

  • Market wise, yes.

  • gotcha

  • Ugly car !!

  • At 2:50 and at other parts he says that cars are safer and more comfortable than motorcycles, which are commonly used in countries he mentioned. I don't think he is really interested for those people safety or anything else. He just want to expand his company. Usually same price car and bike, with the bike you get more speed, fuel economy, easy transport (where the traffic is much). Sorry for the length of the comment...

  • For a roundabout service truck this serves that purpose very well.

  • China's productions ruin the world !!!

  • These little guys were all over my school campus. Look for Vantage Truckall.

  • Sucks

  • this is Daihatsu Espass, sold in many asian countries during 1994-1998 i guess..

  • No you fool! Scroll to the top of the page, lol.

Wuling Sunshine. Oh yeah... and watch the video while you're at it, lol.

  • why is every beautiful car not sold in the US?

  • lol

  • Hummer was sold to a Chinese Tool Company.

  • has anyone seen the crash tests of chinese vehicles on youtube? ; that would keep me from buying this vehicle alone.

  • WTF

  • make it a little bigger and ill get off my two wheeler they do sell those here but they are right side wheel and a used one costs about $5,000...

  • kinda like that truck

  • Dear GM, Please keep your current line of automobiles. Just offer more engine and transmission options. Make a Hummer with Diesel and you will earn my business.

  • isn't GM selling hummer to somebody in asia?

  • i think they already did.

  • yeah they have to a Chinese industrialist based company lol...

hummer were always shit imo anyways.

  • They served their purpose. I always like the way the H2 looked.

  • yea, too bad it'll be gone

  • They have good appeal, i agree.

  • 日本車の完全コピーだね!

  • Write in english!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh shut up!

  • fuck u piece of shit!!!...

  • Thanks for the laugh!

  • welcome to the world wide web, its WORLD WIDE

  • saying that this is a complete copy of a Japanese car doesn't help, you must tell japan to partner up with somebody.

  • I'm guessing most people didn't actually watch the video and listen to it, because all they are bitching about is how they hate the car, how it looks awful, they would rather die than be caught driving it etc etc. Well, its not for you, dipshits. Its for people in countries that can't afford a Ford Focus, cant afford a honda Civic. I know thats a hard concept for you to grasp, but some people dont make enough money to get those. That is what these cars are for. Simple, cheap. Thats the point.

  • Its a nice vehicle really, small trucks like this are all over Asia while we have these huge as trucks with 700 foot pounds of torque that could move a mountain LOL. These would be nice for small pick ups and delivers for sure.

  • The car is meant to be simple to reduce price.

I think that its a good strategy... anyways, its just mean to move shit around and not really to look pretty.

  • for $3000 - $4000 bucks. many people would buy it. Times are tough. If it's between this and my Chevrolegs.... This thing win lol

  • it was only a matter of time before cars had "made in china" stamped on them somewhere.

  • i would be embarrass if i drive that shit thing

  • You should check out the Suzuki Mini Mog, little 4x4 trucks like that, there awesome, and if you hit the brakes hard enough you can do a stoppie

  • who in the fuck would drive that shit

  • lol

  • Comment removed

  • "So guy what do you drive?" "A Wuling Sunshine" yea.........

  • Australia is not a part of Asia. It isn't developed either. I wonder how many negative ratings I will get for this.

  • Yeah I was about to write. And you wonder why GM isn't doing great; it's because they have d!psh!ts like this guy representing them. Lol this guy looks like he should be working at a used car dealership.

  • if the that trucks a rear wheel drive, I did put hayabusa motor in it.

  • looooooool

    thats funny

" it may be the VERY THING THAT SAVE GM "

    Pathetic

  • Australia is its own continent sir lutz but i know what your trying to say

  • cant wait for the version with the corvette engine in it : )

  • That thing got a Hemi in it?

  • When did this interview take place?

  • since when is australia a part of asia? someone assassinate this asshole.

  • BOB LUTZ IS CRAZY OLD VIETNAM VET

  • he's not even american you idiot.

  • GM?? THAT?!?!

  • i'd put a 350 in it :3

  • In that case a wheelie bar iz mandatory, lol

  • wat the FUCK

  • we use these around the plant but they have a 600 cc engine in them. 1ST!!!
