  • @cbr900rr919 This car has over 1000HP at the crank, and the engine work is probably in the 15k$ range, and there is no wayyy in hell you're gonna get 1kHP out of a V8 for less than 10k, unless it's a 572 and they cost nearly 10 grand on their own...

  • @CJDaTman 1000HP at the crank yes, which is like 800+rwhp, and 15k in only the motor, 5k for turbo/intake/exhaust, 5k for engine managment and fuel system, 5k for 3.2l stroker with pistons/rods/crank/etc..

    if would be expensive to have it tuned, but assuming you do all the work and tune it yourself, it would be about 15k.

  • @bshawn41 man the mk3's really are pretty cheap. They have gone up in price slightly in the last few years but they are still reasonable. A mint low mile turbo is worth around 7k max. N/A's are dirt cheap and then do whatever swap u want and have some cheap good fun. I got two mk3's for 2700 and they both were great running cars. RIP my 88' AUTO. Hit a deer around 75mph and pushed the radiator support back about 5 inches and the deer rapped around the whole drivers side.parts car now.

  • @mkIIIsupras Mine cost in excess of 20k. The engines usually need a rebuild, the cars need paint jobs, restoration work, clutch and brakes, all sorts of shit. They are old. And parts for them you can only get from toyota. And even hoses can be $100. They are not cheap.

    Nelson racing has a 2000hp small block with A/C and over 1000 dyno pulls on it showing no signs of wear. Any turbo motor is daily drivable when its not making boost. They even put one in a supra, minus the A/C watch?v=TkUTunWNL9o

  • I just noticed the nelson small block goes 147mph in the 1/8th, while this MK4 does 147 in the 1/4. Obviously the car is ruined for anything but straight lines including street driving, but its untouchable for what it was built for.

  • @pitbullsdog Lol wow you got to get away from the computer games! yes its a quick little engine but get real at 900 to 1500 is the top hp for this engine and it needs forced induction to get those numbers and I would bet nitrous also. The hemi put out over 600hp witout forced induction, just carbs and top hp for a hemi has been recorded at over 8000hp and that was a 60s drag car. show me a 2jz that can put out that kinda hp and I'll be impressed.

  • @68chargerlover yes but the V8's with 8000hp are the funny cars and the long skinny drag cars with the use of HIGH octane fuel. its where they get most of the power from. other than that they are just regularly modded 800hp v8's. so far imports have not majorly gotten into the funny car class. but, there is a import funny car that has 4000hp from an 4cylinder.

  • @JDMforever11 the v8s running 8000hp and going over 300mph were done in the 60s. So the imports can do well but the kings will always be the v8s

  • @68chargerlover yeah because the new V8's now use technology to a point where you cant get as much horsepower as the old V8's. i believe hennesy only got 500ho out of the new camaro, but theres old camaros pushing over 1000whp.

FULL interior, NO roll cage , fully drivable, AC as well, NO nitrous, full audio system and with street tires it runs ALMOST 8 seconds (in the 9.1's). and there are supras with OVER 1700++WHP dully drivable and street legal as well. the other thing is, you DONT need such a big engine to go fast. America is good with their huge V8's and superchargers, while Jap's are good with small 4cyl., v6 and turbo's.

Look at the top hp that can be attained from a imports vs the top hp from a v8. That will tell you which has more potential. Plus the muscle cars have an attitude and coolness that you just cant get from an import

  • @68chargerlover the evo DID NOT use nitrous and was on PUMP GAS. and this supra mk4 on the video is not at 1300++whp with no nitrous. and theres supra's in the 7's as well. titan motorsports supra ran 7.68 and went to burger king, boost logic's supra ran 7.58 at 195, and vinny tens supra did 7.30 spinning out at the start.

  • @JDMforever11 yes on pump gas with a bunch of boost. Any engine makes power with forced induction. Theres been v8s in the 4s since the 60s and going over 300mph, i'm no knocking imports i love the STI, they can get nice power an still great gas mileage. But the muscle cars are legends that you have to respect, and the V8s in them are still at the top, after all these years theres still no imports to beat the records set by them for all out power and top speed

  • @JDMforever11 Uhmm no the cars your talking about also need high octane, even a factory sti recomends running on premieum fuel. Those imports also have to run methonal injection. There were hemis putting out over 600hp factory right off the show room floor and ran carburation and pump gas, no forced induction. Sorry the v8 is and always will be the top dog

  • @68chargerlover the factory recomend that you use premium on an STI because its a turbo car. it goes the same as turbo V8's.

  • @JDMforever11 Like I said when your dealing with higher hp you want high octain fuels. The difference is you need forced induction on an import to get the same hp as a v8 gets without and just a carb.And torque is another subject a v8 makes way way more torque.

  • @68chargerlover hah...V8's are high compression to start. you cant turbo them right away because the motor will blow from the high compression. you would have to have the motor professionally built with forged internals. an NA build is more expensive too. as for an import turbo, the motor is built to take on more boost and more power. the 2JZGTE will take over 800++whp on stock internals.

  • @JDMforever11 imports are high compression also the forced indution creates high compression thats what makes power. A muslce car engine has high compression which is the same as adding tons of boost, its the amount of air your compressing just different ways of doing it. A muscle car has forged internals, forged crankshaft and block plus the hemi has cross bolting with makes it extra strong. Imports are mostly almuminum.

  • @68chargerlover imports are NOT high compression. the highest comrpession on an import turbo would be 8:5.1, thats not high. and the internals of the 2JZGTE are COMPLETELY FORGED.

  • @JDMforever11 forced induction does force air into the cylinder causeing the same as high compression its just a different way of doing it. a turboed car has to have low comression but after the air is forced into the cylinder and the intake valve closed theres a high volume of air fuel compressed. The muscle car engine is also forged, wonder where the japs learned that lol Pull the tubo off your import see how it does without the mass air compresed in the cylinder

  • @68chargerlover its a 1990 nissan 300zx . it probably has hesitation because the owner put on the wrong spark plugs. the VG30DE/DETT motor were designed with 1 plug in mind, they were NGK something, i'll have to look it up. theres a video on it.

  • @68chargerlover Forced induction wasn't meant to be the first course of action to make power anyway. It should be the last. There are big block cars that easily make 800-1100HP off of two 4-barrels. I don't see any inline-6 making half that w/o turbo(s). Lol

  • @fresh81steez exactly any car can be quick, but making it really fast is another thing. Also you have to look at the top potental of the engine, a 5 banger can be real fast but when it comes to being really fast the more cubic inches the better.

  • @PD19954 The 1uz is a v8, for one. and you don't see many 2jz, 1uz, 7m, rb26, or any other japanese motors in top fuel. imo, that is the highest level of performance you can reach. ALL of the top fuel engines make 8000+ HP, and are ALL based off of a Chrysler HEMI. therefore, that is the best engine on the planet for performance.

    And I agree that the body style of the MK3 is still SWEET. I get compliments on mine every time I drive her.

  • The MK3 is cheaper since it's older but to find one in great shape like i did is tough. And then you need an expert to mod it. It's finally at 600 hp with a Haltech ECU, and a tonne of mods inside and out and I've spent over $60k. The guy workin on it now has one even faster & it only cost him $15k but he has the experience, skill and knowledge to do it.

  • The MK4 is overpriced due to the Fast n the Furious. It has more mods & options out there because it's newer. With a 2jz the MK3 can run over 1,000 hp with a 1j at 800+ and with a 7mgte over 600+ so it''s all a matter of budget & desire. I love the MK3 but will probably pick up a nice MK4 one day too.

  • The theory on the Fast and the Furious is perposturous. People buy supras for their engines, their looks, or a combination of both. They are easy motors to make fast and can, like you said, withstand a high amount of power.

  • dont forget about reliablilty of the 2jz and the gertrac 6speed in the mkiv. you can sell that alone and get an mkiii easy. i paid 6k for mine and its one of the rariest mkiii's availible 92 teal targa turbo 5 speed and shadow grey interior. the 7m's only problem is lack of revs, head gasket, and supporting mods parts are becoming harder and harder to find.
