I wrote that comment just before you mentioned a knife that you carry on you. Good deal. Good luck, great video. Don't lend anything out to people and you wont need to re-supply your EDC ED.
You are ready for just about anything. I would suggest that you consider a firearm or at least a small edged weapon for self defense. Then you will be ready.
gr8 vid & bag! as a parent, i understand ur reasoning 4 not having a firearm/knife in ur bag. as a parent & gun owner, i would like 2 encourage u 2 reconsider that position (& if possible), even explore the option of placing a compact firearm secured w/either cable lock or zip ties thru the barrel/chamber of the gun. better 2 have & not need than 2 need & not have. just be mindful of ur child's/bag location @ all times. also teach them safety rules & proper firearms usage. Peace!
Ditch the plastic water bottle as these don't last long before they start to break down and become unhealthy. Lash out on a stainless steal bottle, it won't break down and make you sick and will last a life time. I've got 1 that cost about $20 Aus and it has a quality clip arrangement and a lanyard
Great ideas. I used to have a plastic box I carried around in my van when the kids were little. I had things like candles, water, food, suckers etc in it. I was always scared something would happen and leave me stranded alone with them somewhere. I haven't had anything like that with me in my vehicle for a few years now and want to do it again. I'm looking into a BOB type bag, or more like a get me home bag. I got a lot of great ideas from your video. Thanks.
I'm using my Swiss Army backpack (a bit bigger). I have found that the inner bag in 4 season GI bag or a larger, hardy bivy bag is smart too, especially if you stay at a friend's home or as an addition to whatever stuff you have in your car (in ours, 2 sleeping bags in each car, plus the BOB/GOOD stuff and sensible stuff). Folding / rolling solar would work.
One last thing: for USB charging, consider these too. You'll need to provide your own USB cables I think: Hand crank SOS charger (smaller footprint) or the highest dollar Eton radio would work. This thing is only $15: Etón American Red Cross CLIPRAY ARCCR100R_SNG USB Cell Phone Charger with Hand Crank LED Flashlight and this is $75: Etón American Red Cross ARCFR600R Solarlink Digital AM/FM/SW/NOAA S.A.M.E. Pretty awesome video. Seems like a lot but if that friend of yours need anything, and I mean anything they you're pretty much the go to guy. Lots of stuff in a pretty small package. @mostlymichaelcanada Thanks for the comment. Actually, if you go through some of the other videos on my channel, I try to do lots of testing and obtaining skills. Sorry if this didn't come across in my first YT video. I still have never needed to use the 550 paracord. I think a lot of YT people just like making tactical friendship bracelets and knife handles out of them. :) I would never want to eat an MRE for EDC. Yes, everyone's EDC systems are tailor made for their needs.
@TheUrbanPrepper :) I think you might be right about the paracord. It is handy though, if you bust a shoelace.
You have nothing to apologize for. Truly, thanks for sharing. Its to easy to criticize what others have done. I'm hoping to put up a video of my go bag, shortly. No doubt, it won't work for others and they'll criticize my efforts. Such is life.
@mostlymichaelcanada Please keep me posted when you finish your go bag. I'm always interested in seeing what others are using for their personal systems. Looking forward to talking more with you in the future.
You never have tried using that Space blanket. You should, see if you'd carry if after using them. I used one during an arctic emergency...it "helped" but really, don't count on them. They're mostly crap.
@mostlymichaelcanada Actually, I have used a space blanket before. :) Not the particular one that is in the video, but I have several in a variety of different locations. I like having it because it is lightweight, small and is multipurpose. I have the bivy bag for warmth and the space blanket could be used for a variety of different uses such as shelter, water gathering, repairing a broken window, used as a tarp, etc. It's so small and light, why not have one handy?
@TheUrbanPrepper I totally agree. I carry both a bivy and the space blankets together also and they could be used together or separate. Nice video my friend
@pac21989 Too much stuff in your opinion of what you think I do on a daily basis? I'm not sure how you know if it is too much for my particular needs. If I use the majority of the items regularly during a week (minus for of the emergency items, of course), and others appreciate when I have a particular item on me, does that mean that I have too much stuff or just the right amount? I went to your channel to see what your EDC is but didn't see anything. I would love to see what you use.
@TheUrbanPrepper well you said you work in an office. my edc is a slim wallet, keys and cell phone. thats ALL you need. but some people like yourself feel you need to schlep around a load of items and thats cool...
@pac21989 It sounds like you have your system all set. Since my channel is a preparedness channel, I don't think my videos will be of any interest to you. Best of luck moving forward and thanks again for your comments.
Nice set up, my EDC pack is so similar it isn't funny. Don't worry about those who think you're strange for carrying so much stuff on a daily basis, especially the obscure items like N95 mask, swimming goggles, etc. I'm sure at least one or two bystanders who were outside the WTC when it collapsed would have been grateful for such items. Ever since that day I've been more diligent in being prepared for such situations. Who would have thought something like that could ever happen?
Be careful carrying around that medicine (esp. the Vicodin) loose like that. It's a crime to have your medicine outside the containers and I guarantee you that if a cop found that, he or she would haul you in for some stupid drug offense. Still, most of the stuff in here is a good idea and I'll be putting my stuff in little containers soon. Something I would recommend is something we talk about in CERT--carrying around a laminated card with contact info and addresses of family and friends.
Wow, I've understand "prepare for anything" but this just seems like an insane amount of stuff to carry daily. I can't understand how you could possibly need all this stuff in an urban setting.
@mightywombat Yea... I started to write several things here in response to your silly comment, but I'm sure you've heard it all before, and are locked in to your..."go with none" outlook.
So...I'm fine with you not carrying a basic tool for survival...maybe you can run real fast, throw rocks real good, or maybe your one of those that believe surrender, and complete cooperation is the way to go...but why would you be relieved that others subscribe to the same stupidity?
Cracking vid very very informative and good items to have, may I recommend that you get a good quality utility knife, because like your SOL gear you don't know when you might need it. Keep um coming brother.
@MrBushLife Comments: I love the EEPC puter idea. That particular model has one of the longest lasting batteries yet. 6-8 hours depending on usage settings. I use that today, and just hook up a large screen to it...works great.
The only comment I got for yah is the Whistle inside, at the back. I would keep it near a front , easy to access part of your EDC. for Emergency communication use.Great Video , looking forward to watching the others..Cheers !!
@MrBushLife Great point regarding the whistle! This is actually my backup whistle. My main one is part of my on person EDC and is on my keychain. I still think the one in my backback will be moved up to an easier access point. Thanks for watching!
@PenguinMasterJedi LOL! I've never had a problem with the police on those items. I interchange those mints/candy for other similar items, just to mix things up a bit.
@IchBinDeiVadder It's more of a "convenience bag". Besides the items like the paracord, mask and goggles, I find that I use almost all of the items in this bag during the week.
this is a very interesting edc. nice to see your kit fits your needs its also very sensible. i live in wetsern wa and with the earth quakes floods landslides and volcanoes this is very smart. might i suggest write in the rain paper and pen. great stuff and i belive its available at lowes under a diffrent name but its waterproof paper. also you might consider a rain fly for your bag. even if its waterproof the rain is heavy in wa and you can never keep your gear to dry especially electronics
@dorringtonchancvelew Thanks for the tip. I've never seen that different brand of Rite in Rain. I don't have it with my EDC because it's too pricey for me to replace often. The rain fly is a great idea!
Great EDC. Glad to see a sensible pack with great items. About how much would you say it weighs, fully packed with a full bottle of water included? The concept of small bags within to organize is excellent.
What is The point of having edc? Are you preparing for a small war? A zombie outbreak? Never in my years have I come across a situation where I would need 95% of that stuff. I always carry some spare money like any sensible person would, so what's the point of carrying around supplies that would last you in the forest?? Are you afraid you are going to get lost???
Also, why do people stock up on a bunch of knives and guns? I'm all for protection, but why have enough guns for a sm
@GnomeGuardian Great question. I wanted an EDC because I was tired of never having particular items when I really needed them. I started making a list of items that would be handy to have close by for work/home/public. I use most of the items in my EDC Bag fairly regularly (electronics, office supplies, hygiene items, etc). I agree that some take it to the extreme when carrying zombie supplies and lots of weapons. I think most are gun fans initially and use prepping to justify this hobby.
let me share a tip wth all you fellow preppers. my wifes grandma told me along time ago, ditch the gauze and bandages,........( with permission) grab a handfull of the wifes um...." lady napkins" put some in your car and in your edc bag/ survival kit. they work much betther than gauze and are nice and neat in that tiny square package
Good job on your bag. Just a couple of suggestions, (someone might have already made the same suggestions so I apologize if they did) I would have your important items, such as the meds and whistle, in an outside pocket so someone, to include yourself, could find/access it pretty quick/easily. Also, some maps of the local area(s) would be helpful in case your GPS system isn't working.
I Agee with the modular system, I'm in the process of setting my bag the same way. The little bags from REI was a great idea, I know have my electronic "recharge" set up! Great job!
@therenechannel1 For the most part, yes. It's not always "on" me, but it's at my desk for work, in the car when I am driving, on the plane with me when I travel and in the living room when I am watching TV. So far, it has saved the day for me many times over.
im sure you are, but be careful with some of those prescription meds. legally you need to cary those with their prescription(ie the original bottle). i know some over zealous cops who would love to get you on that one haha just looking out for you:-)
Nice well thought out bag. I dug the Mt. Rainier kit. The goggles seem like they could be useful in a large number of weather situations. I may have to consider that. Thanks for the video

That Pygmy Falcon 2 is a nice, sturdy, compact pack, and the dual bottle holders are very handy. I like how with the support straps it stays tight to your back and doesn't flop around, very comfortable to walk with and durable. I'll have to update mine with some of your ideas, thank you for posting your video.
@mokyan7 Thanks for the comment! I absolutely love the Pygmy Falcon. It is extremely well designed and built, plus it is the perfect size for me to have enough gear without overpacking.
@BeautyDiva100 I've yet to actually use the poncho. I usually always have a jacket or umbrella available. I'm glad you liked the organization of the contents. I try to be consistent with the organization, because I am often unorganized in many other aspects of my life. Thanks!
12:28 haha. Hey ive seen a lo t of ppl with the Nalgene water bottles, is there anything "special" about them that's better than othere water bottles?
@TheUrbanPrepper Ok gotcha Im a systems analyst for a utility company and I do a little bit a programming and coding for data analysis and operations. Its nice to see other "techie" people who have an interests in preparation. Due to my occupation the majority of my EDC gear has to be business appropriate and accomodate work needs like a laptop.
I always recommend, for EVERY survival tin, are a couple of those styrofoam rings that come in CD/DVD spools. They're great if you have a blister on your foot; just put the hole over the blister and it pads it all around. Just my thoughts.
Just discovered your channel. Your style of videos is refreshing and real. You don't pretend to be someone you're not and you think in a practical sense. Keep it up!
great EDC its very useful to carry all those things inside a bag (so you have many more options) but you also might want to thing about carrying a few of the essential things on your person just in case your bag was lost or stolen in an emergency. Just a little something to think about. Great EDC again!
great video! im always trying to improve my EDC, mines like a half of that. got lots of great ideas here. I love that bag, what model of maxpedition was that??
your videos are great! thanks for the good quality videos. I started a few kits of my own and got most of my ideas from your videos! I as well am a Washingtonian and find your kits to be useful!
@TonicLime1 Thank you for the comment! I am glad that my videos have give you some ideas. That is SO rewarding for me. It's nice to meet another Washingtonian on YouTube! Let's continue to bounce ideas off of each other. Thanks again!
@ForTheWin1121 Thanks man. Don't worry about the people picking on you so much. You'll have the last laugh. I do keep my "prepping" semi-secretive from my family and friends unless they specifically ask.
Nice video! Understand your more urban environment, but maybe think about a packet of something like Gatorade and also a power bar, gel or 5 hr energy for an extra boost. Maybe a cheap Trac phone too. Also don't underestimate a few rubber-bands and paperclips or binder clips.
Great video! I just uploaded my own EDC video. I chose to make a really small EDC with just the essentials of survival (Urban/Sub urban/Outdoors). I prioritized lightweight and small size more than lots of items. Check it out if you want to at my channel. Have a good day! :)
Nice vid, as a dane its a bit hard to compehend that you need all this stuff on a day 2 day basis in the states, but its bette to have a need not than to have not..
@DL9619 LOL! Not quite. I'm a professional musician by night. That's my dual life. I may need to look into the pink leotard though. Might make for a fun future video. :)
This is one of my favorite EDC videos. When I got that bag(last year many) I thought it was going to be bigger thn what it is, and I had been having trouble trying to figure out what I could get in it. as I'm new to the concept of EDC and prepardeness. This video really has shown me a lot. Cheers! p.s. I'm digging having the wee netbook in that pocket, never would have even thought about that.
@CNLib63 Thank you for this comment. Yeah, that pocket works perfect for the Netbook. That is the most used item in my EDC bag BY FAR. Welcome to the EDC/Preparedness Club. I try to keep this hobby of mine fairly realistic and don't get caught up in the apocalypse, Mad Max, massive gun collectors, zombies topics. Getting gear becomes quite addictive. Have fun! :)
if you live in washington you have to have some type of water proof layer or layers. i normally always have a tent/poncho and a shell jacket. and i like the mt.rainer kit as well thats a smart idea. good set up man.
@JustInCase308 Good idea regarding the bills. I do have $2 in quarters. Do you think more is needed? I usually always have spare change rolling around in my pocket.
@TheUrbanPrepper I think $2 in quarter is reasonable. Having some $1's, $5's, and some $10's just make things a bit easier. Just in case the person on the other side of the transaction convenently has no change. I really enjoy your videos. I am over in the Gig Harbor area so alot of your planning efforts apply well to me.
I would 100% add a clean pair of socks and underwear. I have a car kit that I keep most of those items that you carry in your edc. But I keep in the trunk of my car. Socks I think are a must! Underwear optional but ya never know. LoL
@MunkeySpaz I've thought about adding both of those items before, but I usually have spare clothes in my car. I think I could definitely squeeze the socks in my utility/tools compartment. I've never had a moment where I really wished I had a spare change of underwear, but then again I've never been in a SHTF (literally!) situation before. :)
I would add a small lockback knife such as a spyderco deleca, they are ultra lightweight but give you the extra edge if all else fails. redundancy is important and if you need to grab this bag and go, the extra assurence of having a backup blade can be a big help. if your concerned about your child getting to it, small lockable bags are available and can do double duty for storing the controlled substances you keep in there. equally dangerous to small children. If you lose the key, rip the bag
MY GOD! That is alot for a EDC bag! haha Great video man, seriously awesome, and glad to see the goggles, and mask. Between that and the "big" eathquake we could have any day now... those are seriously great items to have.
Can I give you a sudgestion. Your Li-Ion batteries will lose their charge overtime, you should really carry some alkali ones aswell which take many years to discharge. Anyways, excellent EDC. Thanks Alot!
@myth90045 I absolutely LOVE the Pygmy Falcon II. It's extremely well built, not bulky, fits all of my gear and is extremely comfortable. I don't think you would be disappointed if you bought it. I think it would fit a 15" laptop, but not in the compartment that I have my netbook in. It would need to go in the main compartment. If you end up pulling the trigger on it, send me a message to let me know how you like it. Good luck!
Nice setup... I imagine it has already evolved. Minor recommendation: some sort of basic filter to use in conjunction with your katydn tablets. Alot of urban water in a SHTF scenario will be contaminated with things that purification tablets won't remove (chemicals, lead, etc.). You can pick up some pretty basic filters... as cheap as $10 (i.e. frontier emergency filter straw). If you filter before treating; you won't have to wait a full 4 hours eithers (15 minutes).
@MrHALOCOUST Thanks for the comment. Since making this video, I have hidden a Swiss Army Victorinox in my EDC Bag that I don't think my son will be able to find. :)
Very nice EDC and presentation. What I do is have a conventional bug out/survival bag in my car trunk and a seperate EDC backpack for work. That way if I really need to access wilderness survival gear, it's available in my car but I don't have to carry it around with me everyday.
Just FYI carrying Vicadin and all that not in it's original perscription bottle does count as possession of narcotics and if you have enough can be intent to distribute. This counts for the state of Washington, trust me I know. Great EDC though, gave me a couple ideas and some what not to carrys :)
great video, how about a couple of flares in case you get lost in the dark?

Who would have thought something like that could ever happen?
naming69 1 month ago
Be careful carrying around that medicine (esp. the Vicodin) loose like that. It's a crime to have your medicine outside the containers and I guarantee you that if a cop found that, he or she would haul you in for some stupid drug offense. Still, most of the stuff in here is a good idea and I'll be putting my stuff in little containers soon. Something I would recommend is something we talk about in CERT--carrying around a laminated card with contact info and addresses of family and friends.
angrynadya 1 month ago
Wow, I've understand "prepare for anything" but this just seems like an insane amount of stuff to carry daily. I can't understand how you could possibly need all this stuff in an urban setting.
paul65544 2 months ago
@mightywombat Yea... I started to write several things here in response to your silly comment, but I'm sure you've heard it all before, and are locked in to your..."go with none" outlook.
So...I'm fine with you not carrying a basic tool for survival...maybe you can run real fast, throw rocks real good, or maybe your one of those that believe surrender, and complete cooperation is the way to go...but why would you be relieved that others subscribe to the same stupidity?

@MrBushLife Comments: I love the EEPC puter idea. That particular model has one of the longest lasting batteries yet. 6-8 hours depending on usage settings. I use that today, and just hook up a large screen to it...works great.
The only comment I got for yah is the Whistle inside, at the back. I would keep it near a front , easy to access part of your EDC. for Emergency communication use.Great Video , looking forward to watching the others..Cheers !!
MrBushLife 2 months ago
@MrBushLife Great point regarding the whistle! This is actually my backup whistle. My main one is part of my on person EDC and is on my keychain. I still think the one in my backback will be moved up to an easier access point. Thanks for watching!
TheUrbanPrepper 2 months ago
@PenguinMasterJedi LOL! I've never had a problem with the police on those items. I interchange those mints/candy for other similar items, just to mix things up a bit.
TheUrbanPrepper 2 months ago
But the point is..... if you want to survive (strange word for an urban setting)..... you won't need that much crap. :D
IchBinDeiVadder 2 months ago
@IchBinDeiVadder It's more of a "convenience bag". Besides the items like the paracord, mask and goggles, I find that I use almost all of the items in this bag during the week.

this is a very interesting edc. nice to see your kit fits your needs its also very sensible. i live in wetsern wa and with the earth quakes floods landslides and volcanoes this is very smart. might i suggest write in the rain paper and pen. great stuff and i belive its available at lowes under a diffrent name but its waterproof paper. also you might consider a rain fly for your bag. even if its waterproof the rain is heavy in wa and you can never keep your gear to dry especially electronics
dorringtonchancvelew 2 months ago
@dorringtonchancvelew Thanks for the tip. I've never seen that different brand of Rite in Rain. I don't have it with my EDC because it's too pricey for me to replace often. The rain fly is a great idea!

Great EDC. Glad to see a sensible pack with great items. About how much would you say it weighs, fully packed with a full bottle of water included? The concept of small bags within to organize is excellent.

I don't get it.
GnomeGuardian 3 months ago
@GnomeGuardian Great question. I wanted an EDC because I was tired of never having particular items when I really needed them. I started making a list of items that would be handy to have close by for work/home/public. I use most of the items in my EDC Bag fairly regularly (electronics, office supplies, hygiene items, etc). I agree that some take it to the extreme when carrying zombie supplies and lots of weapons. I think most are gun fans initially and use prepping to justify this hobby.
TheUrbanPrepper 3 months ago

TheTater1984 3 months ago
Good job on your bag. Just a couple of suggestions, (someone might have already made the same suggestions so I apologize if they did) I would have your important items, such as the meds and whistle, in an outside pocket so someone, to include yourself, could find/access it pretty quick/easily. Also, some maps of the local area(s) would be helpful in case your GPS system isn't working.

@TheUrbanPrepper Ok gotcha Im a systems analyst for a utility company and I do a little bit a programming and coding for data analysis and operations. nosaj03 5 months ago
I always recommend, for EVERY survival tin, are a couple of those styrofoam rings that come in CD/DVD spools. They're great if you have a blister on your foot; just put the hole over the blister and it pads it all around. Just my thoughts.

great EDC its very useful to carry all those things inside a bag (so you have many more options) but you also might want to thing about carrying a few of the essential things on your person just in case your bag was lost or stolen in an emergency. Just a little something to think about. Great EDC again!
ElectricDetonator1 6 months ago
Fiskars type or Utility Scissors/shears come in really handy ... think about that.
Space Blanket can be cut into sections and you can use it to line cap and sox.
An entire roll of quarters might come in handy ... can even swing it in a sock, etc.
A shemagh is a very light and handy item ... see the vid on 101 uses.
A multimode headlamp (runs on 3xAAA batts).
A credit-card size fesnel magnifying lens (cost a buck at most drug-stores).
*MORE* lithium batts ... a dozen AAA and 8 AA.

JustInCase308 8 months ago
@JustInCase308 Good idea regarding the bills. I do have $2 in quarters. Do you think more is needed? I usually always have spare change rolling around in my pocket.
TheUrbanPrepper 8 months ago
@TheUrbanPrepper I think $2 in quarter is reasonable. Having some $1's, $5's, and some $10's just make things a bit easier. Just in case the person on the other side of the transaction convenently has no change. I really enjoy your videos. I am over in the Gig Harbor area so alot of your planning efforts apply well to me.
JustInCase308 8 months ago
I would 100% add a clean pair of socks and underwear. I have a car kit that I keep most of those items that you carry in your edc. But I keep in the trunk of my car. Socks I think are a must! Underwear optional but ya never know. LoL
MunkeySpaz 8 months ago
@MunkeySpaz I've thought about adding both of those items before, but I usually have spare clothes in my car. I think I could definitely squeeze the socks in my utility/tools compartment. I've never had a moment where I really wished I had a spare change of underwear, but then again I've never been in a SHTF (literally!) situation before. :)
TheUrbanPrepper 8 months ago
I would add a small lockback knife such as a spyderco deleca, they are ultra lightweight but give you the extra edge if all else fails. redundancy is important and if you need to grab this bag and go, the extra assurence of having a backup blade can be a big help. if your concerned about your child getting to it, small lockable bags are available and can do double duty for storing the controlled substances you keep in there. equally dangerous to small children. If you lose the key, rip the bag
ridgerunnersurvival 8 months ago

How do you like the pygmy falcon2.. IM thinking of pulling the trigger. Also do you think it can fit a 15" laptop
myth90045 9 months ago
@myth90045 I absolutely LOVE the Pygmy Falcon II. It's extremely well built, not bulky, fits all of my gear and is extremely comfortable. I don't think you would be disappointed if you bought it. I think it would fit a 15" laptop, but not in the compartment that I have my netbook in. It would need to go in the main compartment. If you end up pulling the trigger on it, send me a message to let me know how you like it. Good luck!
TheUrbanPrepper 9 months ago
Nice setup... I imagine it has already evolved. Minor recommendation: some sort of basic filter to use in conjunction with your katydn tablets. Alot of urban water in a SHTF scenario will be contaminated with things that purification tablets won't remove (chemicals, lead, etc.). You can pick up some pretty basic filters... as cheap as $10 (i.e. frontier emergency filter straw). If you filter before treating; you won't have to wait a full 4 hours eithers (15 minutes).

Just FYI carrying Vicadin and all that not in it's original perscription bottle does count as possession of narcotics and if you have enough can be intent to distribute. This counts for the state of Washington, trust me I know. Great EDC though, gave me a couple ideas and some what not to carrys :)
