p.s. 'it took so long to bake it'..? all cakes pretty much take similar baking times so this is obviously a lie. unless the cake was absolutely ginormous, which it obviously wasnt.
What is it about this song that confuses So many people. Does the word METAPHORE enter these peoples vocabulary ever?
The "cake" is the heart. The rain is the adversity affecting it. The icing flowing down is tears and pain .
Put it all together. and you get
Someones heart that has been so exposed and vulnerable as a delicate cake. The rain is the torments of a broken heart, and the Icing flowing down, is tears, emotions, etc.
secondly, its a TERRIBLE metaphor. who in their right mind would idly leave a cake outdoors? it could rain, as it has in this stupid song. the whingeing idiot singing this song blatanly DESERVES to have their cake ruined for neglecting it and letting 'someone' leave it out in the 'rain'. what, couldnt they take the cake with them? or just fucking eat the fucking thing?...
...if the cake means their heart. then obviously this idiot would not live for more than a few months, either because they put their life in the hands of others too much, or because whenever they make any food they DONT BOTHER EATING IT AND MAKE A FUCKING RIDICULOUS SONG ABOUT IT.
Now THAT'S funny!!! FINALLY the answer to that age-old question; WHO left the cake out in the rain, and was the recipe REALLY that good that someone had to get all bent out of shape and write a stupid song about it? Beautiful piece of music, too bad the lyrics are so stupid.
Since you were just going to leave the cake out in the rain anyway, you might as well have matched it up with the lyrics. It's supposed to be a GREEN cake, "all the sweet GREEN icing flowing down."
I heard this song used at a gay man's funeral... Superb, dahling! It was PURRRRfect

first off, you cant spell metaphor.
secondly, its a TERRIBLE metaphor. who in their right mind would idly leave a cake outdoors? it could rain, as it has in this stupid song. the whingeing idiot singing this song blatanly DESERVES to have their cake ruined for neglecting it and letting 'someone' leave it out in the 'rain'. what, couldnt they take the cake with them? or just fucking eat the fucking thing?...

It's metaphorical. OK, so i don't understand some of the metaphors. I still like the song... and I'm wondering why.

Were old men playing chess by the trees?
Qermaq 4 years ago
Nope, they were playing checkers. Or in the case of Donna Summer's version, Chinese checkers.
