What is it about this song that confuses So many people. Does the word METAPHORE enter these peoples vocabulary ever?

The "cake" is the heart. The rain is the adversity affecting it. The icing flowing down is tears and pain .

Put it all together. and you get

Someones heart that has been so exposed and vulnerable as a delicate cake. The rain is the torments of a broken heart, and the Icing flowing down, is tears, emotions, etc.

Metaphorically speaking.
