@jacob7inch Yeah well were a nation of English immigrants, so we are pretty close to you both genetically and culturally. All the religious zealots in this country originally came from England, the puritans came to America to escape from your society. They then proceeded to massacre the native peoples of this land, and helped shape a culture of religious bigotry and ethnic intolerance. You can see a similar type of behavior in the settlers of Australia.

@jacob7inch Now that's not to say that there are not a fair amount of Americans who still strive to preserve these outdated modes of thinking. I'm just pointing towards the origins of these cultural dispositions, and the vast majority of these attributes came from England. We are not all raving idiots. Even in the south you still find people who can understand the scientific method. I live in the bible belt, and guess what I'm not a Christian.

@georgesullivansparks Some can. I've heard that Daniel Davis' Niles accent on the Nanny sounded really authentic. Reportedly even some British viewers suggested that Charles Shaughnessy (who is British) should take accent lessons from Daniel Davis (who is not British).
Most Brits probably can't do a good American accent either. The accents are just so different it's hard to train yourself to speak differently.
I sometimes have a hard time telling whether accents are real or faked.

They can't copy English accent because they don't really know how does it sound like. Russians , for an example, speak way difrently than u can hear in the movies. And the movies prity much dictate how does a nation speak ( wich cant be right) so its har to imitate. Trust me i know people tought i was russian , italian and spanish . sorry for the spelling .

There is no such thing as a 'British' accent... it's impossible. Britain is made up of 3 and a half different countries. And all have DIFFERENT accents, it's either an English, Irish, Scottish or Welsh accent... cant be all at once!

That's not accent, that's just the way some people speak, usually because of a speech impediment. My sister, for example, can't pronounce the 'th' in 'truth' but can pronounce the 'th' in 'that' and 'the'.

@NDFJay That's great, I used to love Secret Life, but I stopped watching it, I just recently got into Doctor Who, but I am hooked to it! I also watch a lot of the talk shows, Graham, Jonathan Ross, Parkinson, O'Grady, Alan Carr, Top Gear, etc lol

The set up of the shows is great, over here talk shows become boring after a while, but people like Graham do silly things that keep you entertained!
