  • Nice work from the announcer. Is that Charlie Tuna or Robert W. Morgan?

  • brilliant

  • I can't believe me and my family used to watch these fools and think they could dance.

  • Dang, the SGDs could dance to polka if they had to I bet.

  • @chairmanofthebored1 ...this WASN'T the polka? Disco Polka?

  • @mwr686 Close, lol.

  • See, there are crappy songs from the 70's

  • Mr. Rats, or can I just call you BagO? Question, where were you in 1979?

  • ,,I was entertaining my homeless friends down at the railroad bridge where me and some circus employees where wondering where our next meal was coming from after the big Barnum & Bailey layoff.

  • Bring back the late 70's. I am on a nostalgia trip.

I remember the Gold Dancers and the disco era

, Beegees, Donna Summer and the rest. Music since then has not been the same.

  • Oh yeah .... the Bee Gees are magic!

  • I watched Solid Gold with my Grandpa...and Dance Fever with Denny Terrio .:)

  • Music Dancer is 100 x better than all of Rihana's and Chris Brown's songs put together.

  • damnnnn it is 'liquid' !!!! thanks bro

  • Great music.. no doubt... but the horrible arrival of 1980's disco cloths... and the stupid dancing..... So cheesy you have to love it... But seriously, 70's music rocks!

  • :50 to :56 is hilarious!

  • What about the rest of the countdown? This music is 100 times better than today's excreta.Entertaining and marvelous.Like music suppose to be.

  • Oh.

    My.

    God.

    They are the sex

    lulz :)

  • 1979 I was eleven years old and Music Box Dancer got me listening to the old am Radio I had and got me liking all kinds of music. No doubt, DISCO RULES and the Crap you hear today couldn't stand up to the likes OF ELO OR Donna Summers. Music was music back then.

  • I can't believe this is what we had before MTV.

  • Do you have the rest of the numbers? These songs were 100 times better than the crap on the radio now adays.LOL!

  • I have the rest, I just have not had the time :D

  • I thought I would never see this again. Thanks for posting. Thank God for youtube.

  • Solid Gold dancers...Oh Gawd, If there's a heaven above and a hell below, Why, God have you forsaken us by unleashing this plague upon us? LOL

  • I was 14 years old and messed by not listening to my parents and study for a career. My life is a mess and unemployed.

  • Music Box Dancer can kiss my ass.

  • The black girl was the hottest thing. Look at they she moves. I love it.

  • haha...classic..

  • This is a great clip. A nice time capsule of the music but the dancing is horrible... and how the heck do you interpret "Music Box Dancer" when you are wearing space suits.

  • True...But keep in mind that this episode of Solid Gold '79 was intended to be just a special back in January or February of 1980, however since the show earned such high ratings that it was then decided to be become a weekly series in the fall (September 1980). Thank God for that.

  • This is great! Who's the woman on the right with the bad hair? Usually I can recognize all the Solid Gold dancers.

  • The short-red haired woman on the right was just in the pilot episode only (Thank god cause she wasn't as good as the other dancers), as well as the dark skinned dancer w/shoulder length hair and the guy w/ the mustache.

  • That was really cool

  • I remember watching this. This was the series premiere of Solid Gold.

  • omg i was two when this came on tv

  • haha, i was 7!!! love to go back tho, some really good music was just right around the corner!!!

  • I remember all these songs, especially Don't Bring Me Down - my favorite song at that time. I was 7 years old.

  • Some of the moves are really awkward and cartoony like a fast forwarded tape. But I like when they do a slow number writhing sexily on the floor...

  • Hahaha... just stumbled upon this. I graduated in '79 - it really sent me back in time. Thanks for the smile!

  • im very impress by the quality of recording ( on sp of course!!!!)

    thanx for sharing mémories

  • You can't beat the old VHS machines. I have an RCA selectavision 650 and its recording/playback capabilities exceed even high end machines today.

  • Agreed! Smart collectors are staying with VHS all the way! And it's time tested. DVD is a virgin and defective fad. Scratch and warp prone, and breaks like glass. VHS quality is adequate. Takes a TREMENDOUS pounding. You can stand on it. Throw it up against the wall. Flush it down the toilet, dry it off, and play it another 20 years. DVD investors beware...

  • Do you have any more of the countdown?

  • I loved seeing this segment! Solid Gold brings back great memories to me. It is so cool seeing some of the veteren dancers who was in the 2-hour pilot episode who later went on and become regular dancers when Solid Gold went to a weekly show. Thanks again!!!

  • I can't believe the quality of this footage! Is this on Betamax?

  • Regular OLD VCR tape :)

  • So, you recorded this in early 1980?

  • That was fantastic!!!!Hope to see more!!!
