  • I like the music on the genesis better, but the gameplay is vastly superior on the duo version,it's too bad I dont know how to make copies of this games for the duo cd's

  • This looks uhm... interesting.

  • There isn't anything more manly than punching in the face anything that gets in your way.

  • Um, laffer, if you don't mind telling, how did you get this game to work? I'm assuming you use Magic Engine. So do I! But there's a problem: I can't find any ROMs for this game that work! :( Please help!

  • Yo The RoboticFerret I found a site that has all the Turbo Cd's PC Engine CD and Super CD's! They are all ISO's and they all work! Messege Me in my inbox and I will give you the Link!

  • Ok, but doesn't Magic Engine have to run ".pce" files? Or can you use ISO's if you burn them to CD-Rs and then put them in your disk drive?

  • OK here's how it works. You need to get SuperCD Card 3.0.pce. Then you burn the ISO file of whatever game you want. RUN the System Card 3.0 file and load the CD. Then your good to go!

  • Um, ok, message me with more details and a link, please! :)

  • or you can mount them to virtual drives with daemon tools.

also, use Ootake instead of magic engine

  • Yes, I've tried that with Daemon tools, but it wouldn't be permanent, so I just trashed Daemon. Maybe I'll just buy the game CD eventually. :P

  • Definitely has that Amiga vibe, down to the Scene elements.

  • I love this game. I love the Amiga version, but the music in the underworld level is better in the PC Engine version. IMO anyways.

  • The tree doesn't look like some crazy cyborg tree and they left out the well music. Bullshit. The rest of the music sounds like it was redone by some south african congo master who is obsessed with slap bass.

  • I do like the wee animations but it just doesn't have the spirit of the original C64 (I first play it on cart). Plus the story is wrong and it doesn't really explain why he's on a mission, and it looks like creepy horseman just puts a mask on him. But it looks okay.

  • The original was not on C64. It was on Amiga. :P

  • *checks* Ahh, so it was! Thank you for correcting me!

  • lol no problem :P

  • As Amiga maniac I really didn't like what the other versions made with main character. It isn't monstrous-goat or monstrous-dog... It is monstrous-human g*d d@mn it! :)

This version is great example of misunderstanding the complexity of original "Shadow of the Beast" storyline. Anyway I like every game conversion so I'll stop flaming now :D

    Great upload!

  • Then, can you please tell me the story of Shadow of the Beast? I have never reall gotten the story.

'Though I love the game and i think the music is really swell. =)

  • Original story is only inside original game manual. In short: The game's story is about a man named Aarbron who was kidnapped as a child and corrupted through magic into a monstrous warrior-servant for the evil beast lord Maletoth. The creature's memory of his human life returns when he watches a man which he later recognizes as his father, being executed. This prompts him to seek revenge.

  • Did this game come out simoltaniously on all platforms at the same time, or was there a platform it came out on before everything else?

  • Commodore AMIGA version was the first one released, just before the other platform conversions.
