I can compare players easily to each other based on a mathematical model of NBA averages. The other thing I can do is factor out for yearly differences and project how valuable a guy is indepenedent of the years they played.
Chamberlain is the #1 by far independent of years, and raw. Chamberlain avg. only 0.05 ppg less than Jordan but had 11 more rebs.

You could argue steals are more crucial that rebounds as a steal takes the ball away from the other team without giving them a chance. See?

He avg'd 38.3 minutes per game. If his scoring had fallen 0.48 pts/min he'd be down 18 pts per 38 minutes. In other words he'd be around 2 pts/game. Now he'd score more b/c of rules changes, but he'd also foul a LOT more. He'd come in around a respectable 8-12 a game... but NOT near 20.

@sk8ervzla not 100% sure but when he started winning the titles in 91-93 and retired the first time, I think most people put him up there. once he came back and 3 peated again with Chicago, it was all said and done. Lebron isn't even close to being in his league

Kobe is just as good as Michael Jordan. Jordan only - scored more ppg, shot a higher percentage, played better defense, rebounded better, turned the ball over less, shot a higher percentage in three's, rose to the occasion more often, and never quit.

I personally don't know why people think jordan is the BEST player. I honestly belive kareem was the best. This is in no disrespect to his airness who could fly pass and was the best mid range shooter in nba history and the 3rd best scorer but kareem has just as many rings record amount of MVPs record amount of all star apperences and is the number one scorer of all time and had the most unguardable shot and was as clutch as jordan. I just want to know why Jordan is the best. NO DISRESPECT!

@piggybankvillan; I doubt it. Jordan averaged 20 his last year in the league. That was in 2003. That's 8 years ago. In the last 4 years in the league he was scoring about 0.04pts/min less each year. He avg'd 38.3 minutes per game. If his scoring had fallen 0.48 pts/min he'd be down 18 pts per 38 minutes. In other words he'd be around 2 pts/game. Now he'd score more b/c of rules changes, but he'd also foul a LOT more. He'd come in around a respectable 8-12 a game... but NOT near 20.

Hate to break this to you but most Olympic high jumpers are non-Black and their individual verticals are 48 inches or higher. I'm not White.
MJ is way better than Kobe or Lebron James. Lebron James is a version of Scottie Pipen on steroids. Kobe would not be able to thrive like MJ if he played in the 80s or the early 90s. Only a fool would think Kobe is as good as MJ. Without comparing the stats, MJ is way more athletic than Kobe.
