Probably does, if he does 2x3hour sessions aday n is doing 15000m a session all at pace. he probably does 100k a week on average, then does 30k a day for a few heavy weeks. woteva he does he got wasted anyway.
It's laughable how the announcer says that Takeshi Matsuda swims 30km a day (!) in his training. Would be like an announcer saying a 1500m runner....runs 100km (65miles) or more per day as his training. Matsuda must have told that figure to an interviewer as a joke.

swim the middle 200 fast , but dont take the first 100 to easy, and the last 100 dont let anybody catch up and sprint the last 50
