  • they'rrrrrrrrrrrre great!

  • hahaha one of those looks like my geography teacher its funny cuz hes old haha

  • The effect remains beautiful. It looks

so real. Even though they're just projections.

The only thing they forgot was the bust's

    motion. :(

  • last time there was 4...

  • @DuckiePhatt no, there's always been 5 in the Haunted Mansion. Only Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris has 4 busts.

  • the new ones here in this video look worse that the originals i think theese ones look like stupid anamatronics! i likes the ones where they had an ACTUALL person's face projecting on the bust

  • @silverthehedgielover WTF? These are

still projections you moron! It's improved!

  • @Ruttie2 yeah i know that now i was on it last time i went to disney world so yeah i know that know i was being a moron XD

  • @Ruttie2 They don't look like projections anymore.

  • @chodiestchode Ofcourse not, else it would be stupid.

  • Danggggggggggggggggggggg

  • These ones look kind of lifeless compared to the originals. : \

  • Nimoy in the middle?

  • This looks very real and bettter than home-made ones.

  • these are better than when i went in 2000

  • Darxnx states below that the faces of the busts belong to the Mellomen, however while Thurl Ravenscroft, the voice of Tony the Tiger, was in the Mellomen, these are not the Mellomen. They are Thurl Ravenscroft, Chuck Schroeder, Bob Wright, Jay Myers, and Vern Rowe. Faces of busts and vocals.

  • I thought they were always interiorly-projected or maybe that's how it's always been at Disney World and this is the DisneyLand version...hmm.

  • they are in the Europa-Park in germany too....but only the first 3 of them

  • Yeah, you're quite wrong, there. All five of the busts are the Mellomen

  • how do they do it?

  • they have like a projector thing.

  • The singing busts used to be front projected, not sure if they changed that in the update.

  • A singing group called the Mellomen, who recorded various pieces of music for Disney over the years. The bass singer is Thurl Ravenscroft, who was best known as the voice of Tony the Tiger in the Kellogg's ads.

  • I went on this 5 days ago 6 times no wait haha in disneyworld its the bestt ride ever mp3 plz for the song

  • Can I bring an icecream and flashlight?

    Xd

  • one of those looks like my old science teacher

  • It looks to me as if the whole bust is now lit by the projection device, instead of just the 'moving' head area (for instance, Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris projects the faces but has the necks and pillars lit separately). It looks much, much better. :o)

  • As floating Leota has been re-imagineered using DLP projectors, the whole scene is illuminated in the field of projection, but the image contains black masking so only the busts recieve any light. If you capture the result in high speed video, you will see that the B/W image is composed of three colors red, blue and green, which our persistance of vision percieves as white. When the Haunted Mansion first opened, film projectors ran synchronized loops of black and white positive.

  • that ride looks ace

  • what do you mean?

  • he means its the mens faces on a video and its being projected on to their faces

  • OH I saw them there was definatly an improvement -nods-

  • I wonder what Disney spends on developing such technology. Who developes/maintains the busts and what is the job called officially? What's the technology called that's behind the busts?

    I'm just curious.

  • There called Imagineers in general, but i don't know the specifics.

  • The imagineers works to create the imaginations of new rides, including the audio animatronics and the new rides. They are the "thinkers" or the "inventors".

  • Where is the magic kingdom???

  • The Magic Kingdom is just one of the four parks in Disney World, Orlando, Florida.

  • thanks!!

i shall go there in summer XD

  • It's at Walt Disney World outside of Orlando in a city called Bueno Vista, Florida. There is four parks it's the main one. It's the only one you have to cross a lake to get to. You can search it to learn more about it.

  • Wow kinda wierd how the bust that looks like Walt Disney Is the Broken one and he is gone mabey it is symbolism.

  • It's actually Thurl Ravenscroft, who oddly enough is also the voice of Tony the Tiger. But that obe being the only one broken may be some sort of symbolism.

  • Low brow humor is not symbolic. It's a visual pun, way down low, like Thurl's voice.

  • what is the songs name

  • The songs name is Grim Grinning Ghosts

  • Thurl Ravenscroft is the lead singer in this, But I was told that a cgi face of Paul Frees was also included, as he is the main voice into the ride. Is this true?

  • No, the faces are all the same as before. However, the CGI face of Paul Frees was used in the Haunted Mansion film as one of the singing busts.

  • This is my favorite part of the ride. Thurl and the boys look great. Thank goodness they weren't changed with CGI or totally different actors. I would never set foot in the HM ever again!

  • the last itme i was ther in august they were still working on it but they looked like they tore half the building down is that true or was it my imagination i was like holy crap they tore down the ride but my parents were all like ur weird!!! so let me noe please!!!!

  • Nothing was torn down.

  • oh okay but was there a brace on the building cuz i saw guys up on a brace on the roof of the building??

  • They were just cleaning and painting.

  • okay well i will be in florida at like 11:30pmomarow so i will look forwARD TO GO!!

  • Wow they did kind of change it but its fun to see new ideas for the future

  • It's a subtle modification, but the difference is amazing! They debuted this in DL, too, when HM recently came back from refurb. It looks much better!

  • Wow, did they some how manage to get some physical chin movement in the blank busts to enhance the projection or am I just imagining that? Either way its an amazing difference!

  • They are using artificial shading in the original source media to give the illusion of more movement. In other words, when the chin "lifts" into a closed-mouth position, the part that really exists on the bust is projected with a dark color, hiding it from the rest of the face and bust. It allows for the faces to really look like they're moving, when there are really no moving parts at all. Pretty spiffy.

  • you lost me at artificial light shading... I dont get it, do you mind dumbing it down a bit =D

  • Nice video. The difference is suddle, but definetly there

  • good but I can't see the difference...
