  • If you like Joanna Newsom, please listen to my music! (Harp and voice)

  • I love the part from 0:10 - 0:24 Absolutely Intoxicating

  • Neal Morgan's so stylish. I love him, even if his own compositions are kinda wanky.

  • @Udovica69 she is currently 29

  • here voice improved soo much. sounds really awesome, but i kinda miss the old sound, too :D

  • What have we come to when we think anything over four minutes is a long song? Good grief. Joanna Newsom is an amazing, incredible talent. Who cares if anyone else gets or likes her stuff. You get it, you dig it. ENJOY THE RIDE...

  • am I dreaming or is it an angel singin?

  • isn't she the most elegant beautiful music artist girl WOMAN creature eveR?

  • isn't she the most elegant beautiful girl WOMAN creature eveR?

  • yes how do you get people on to her? its totally only a relaxed emotional experience. a private happening.

  • Wow...that cymbal crash @ :48 ruined it. Fire that talentless idiot.

  • your music is beautiful joanna.. my name is emily. i love it!

  • total fantasy

  • Just saw her perform in Osaka 2 days ago. She played this song and was soo great! :-)

  • where can i go for concert listings?

  • OMG ...I love it

  • BRAVO Joanna!! you're a true artist

  • I am starting to really love this girls music, that was awesome!

  • I seriously lawled at the cymbal @ :48.

  • uuuuu crash cymbal fail at :48 WTF

  • @nelson3300 Yes, cymbal fail, like the electric guitar crash on a recent video of Baby Birch. Much as I love her, she need to either get some classical musicians, or give these guys more rehearsals.

  • this girls got some serious OCD

    and she's the best

  • Why do you think she has OCD?

  • well id have to say its not necessarily what YOu think it is, but lets jsut drop it.. I don't see anything irregular about her playing styles. People do weird shit when they play an instrument, you put your whole body mind and soul into it! Its beautiful, which is why I love this woman!!!! peace and love

  • do you know what ocd is?

  • ocd isn't necessarely what you think it is.

  • Looks like she's just watching where the strings are to me. Gotta look at 'em to pluck 'em.

  • Her voice undertook such a maturation from Milk Eyed Minder to YS. It's much more mellow and filling yet with that odd articulation and pronunciation.

I don't think I have ever found someone or their music so fascinating. I can not express how amazing this girl is.

  • @FUZZYisBIG Sorry, her new album was akin to "THE PHANTOM MENACE." Almost nobody does three unearthly-talented albums in a row, but I hope she regresses to her first record entirely.

  • @opinioninflicting At first I thought the same. If you have the patience, you simply need to play it again and again. The album is just so enormous you literally need time to fall in love with all the various little bits. For instance, Only Skin is what, 16 minutes long? At first it's like woah, that is ALOT, but after many listens certain parts, such as the 'bones' part towards the end really stand out. Have One is similar, take California, that weird 'kah' bit, same thing. At first it's just

  • 2.) too much!, but then you listen more, and you being understanding the extremely subtle complex build up towards that. It's simply an album that takes patience. In her worlds pushing up will move something sideways. Without getting too detailed, music these days is designed too give shirt bursts of pleasure, a true appreciation of her last album takes work on part of the listener. but because of that, when you begin to understand the complexities, the reward is far more pleasurable.

  • She should be kept away from sexual intercourse like some monkish National Treasure. It's destroyed her!

  • worst camera work EVER

  • This is my favorite Joanna Newsom song. I listen to it so much. It's so lovely =]

  • the harp is lovely

  • Emily is my name, and I'm so honoured about that right now...seriousely...this song is ridiculousely beautiful. I can't even believe it. The most beautiful song I've ever heard. EVER. and I listen to music 24 / 7

  • she is as beautiful as her brilliant mind :]

  • love love love.

  • Although I would love to see her with an orchestra someday, I think I actually prefer these versions live. I saw her in this setup in Belgium a few years ago and I think less = more. It was so 'bare', everything just got enhanced by it... Hmmm, it's a bit difficult to describe it in English right now. :-)

  • what a talent

  • this is no 1 of my dessert island disks

  • Why it's so hard to find her? I mean, proffesional vidieos from some tv shows, concerts on dvd... I don't believe she wasn't doing any. She's so amazing, but so few people heard of her...

  • I really dig the heavy percussion with Joanna Newsom's harp. It really drives the rhythms home!

  • oh my god, chills

  • Who's that guy to the right? He's cute! :)

  • At times she sounds like Kate bush...Pleas don't kill me :D

  • omg she is TOO amazing, marry me Joanna!

  • oh btw does anyone know if this verion was recorded because it the best one ive ever heard

  • She looks as beautiful as her music sounds in this video

  • "Soon the solemn mood

Of her pure mind kindled through all her frame

A permeating fire: wild numbers then

She raised, with voice stifled in tremulous sobs

Subdued by its own pathos: her fair hands

Were bare alone, sweeping from some strange harp

Strange symphony, and in their branching veins

The eloquent blood told an ineffable tale."

-from "Alastor; or, The Spirit of Solitude', by Percy Shelley

  • wow......absoloutly beautiful

  • At 1min it's just an amazing part

  • this is just puzzling. she completely drifts off

  • It's gorgeous, awesome... even if this vids is not a great quality...Thanks

  • I saw her with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in August and she was mesmerizing. Her new material is showing great promise as well. I think her next album will, dare I say...transcend Ys...She is brilliant.

  • I could do without the guy and the falsetto. Otherwise she is fantastic

  • i agree... hard. I feel like the vocal support takes flattens the uniqueness of her voice, but some of the instrumental support works well...

  • yup ladykiller you tell them, sometimes i'm just dumbfounded at how she holds all those rhythms while singing she's absolutely amazing. gotta see her again soon...get my fix!

  • Joanna is doing an immensely complicated job just playing her part....al y'all shit talkers should probably take a step back and y'know....kinda look at whats goin on and y'know ......shut the fuck up....cause all of you couldnt form a power chord to play along with a blink 182 album....so yeah....just kinda shut up, right? thanks!

  • Appreciate that this song starts in G minor then modulates to different key singnatures, yet Joanna plays it impeccably on the harp and sings it virtually identically to the recording! Heavens knows what the rest of those losers are doing?

  • Nice :) Too bad only half of it and wobbly camera

  • omg I love how this performance just takes off at 1:40

  • Hard to turn others on to her stuff . . . Just about anything she does stirs up my emotions. Strange I find that even the sad tunes make me giddy. In every respect I appreciate her insane and peculiar beauty. Hope to catch her live someday.

  • shes so awesome. i love joanna ever since milk eyed mender.

  • How lovely. God, she is amazing

  • Trueeeeee :)

  • exelente artista muy bueno

  • anybody else want a Joanna Newsom, bat for lashes and Cocorosie concert to happen? I do....asap plz

  • A Genius !

  • The percussion just does nothing for the song. She blows me away... even with that voice

  • what'you mean "even with that voice" that voice is stunning

  • she sounds like she's trying to sounds like a kid and it can get very annoying...i think that's what he was trying to say...

  • Its one you either hate or love. It grew on me. At first it annoyed me coz it sounded a bit put on but it's so consistantly "there" it's just right for the music.

  • shes amazing but the percussion arangement in this is terrible. and im not talking about her harp playing. im talking about that guy.

  • Excellent performance on Joanna's part, beautiful song...but the drums get a little too loud I think

  • Lucky you to catch her show. I don't know a better song then 'Emily' in the last several years.

  • omg how sexy does she look here? yes of course the music is amazing, but she looks especially lovely here.

  • Oh my god @ 3:50!!!

  • I dream with the day that she come to Chile

  • AHHHHH I can't stand the backup singers! Theys holding her back!

  • I am so glad she exists. What a beautiful song.

  • even though i like her voce in the earlier videos, you can see an improvement with this performance even. i dont really care though. i think her voice is unique and i love it.

  • voice* sorry.

  • wow at the ponytail... hard to tell it's even her

  • Yeah, she looks so different with her hair up like that

  • Nice :) Too bad only half of it and wobbly camera
