  • may i reccomend you adding... yt:stretch=16:9 to your tags,,, it makes your video widescreen,, if your not sure what im talking about go to my channel and my video Attention has the same tag in

  • Suction cups work better to take off the screen

  • you know how to replace the battery ?

  • wouldnt you bend the metal case once your getting the glass out? coz i want to do it myself without it looking worse?

  • Mine doesn't have a crack in the screen, but it has a grey spot which looks like it's rubbed off from the inside. What would that be from and how can I fix it?

  • if i have an ipad 2 do i have to get the home button with the digitizer

  • while replacing my screen i pulled it off and the black plastic cracked inside but wont unclip from the metal clips. how can i remove the plastic without damaging the lcd?

  • its broken so brake it off

  • My favorite was parts 3-6, will there be an extended edition directors cut? This thing was longer than The Godfather and I still cant get the god damn ribbon on the Fing phone.

  • @bfinson5 That serious gave me a lol moment. :P

  • If you have a small suction cup that comes with most of these repair kits, you can simply pop the glass screen off in a few seconds, not 8+ minutes. BUT pop it off from the bottom so you don't break the ribbon cable.

If you are replacing the whole thing... well then just go ahead a rip the thing right off.

  • This guys shit!!!!

  • 5:59 that moment ... is horrible.!

  • You're bending it up, doing it totally wrong, you're a meant to put the "pry" tool in it, and then slide it around the case.. -.-

  • it seems like everyone i know that owns an ipod/iphone has a cracked digitizer -_-

  • BROKEN IPOD TOUCH ON SALE MESSAGE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED

  • When I put the digitizer, at the top left hand corner it won't go all the way down, how can I get it down?

  • Use a hair dryer on hot heat, heat the glass up to soften the glue used to stick it on, then it should come off the plastic bezel easuier.

  • If I dropped my 2g touch and the screen displays white but the ipod itself still works what is actually broken? like what should i look for to buy to replace it myself

  • can u use a ipod touch 2g for a ipod touch 4g

  • @hockey29dude No, the ipod touch has a different screen that is incompatible with older ipod's.

  • can u use a ipod touch 2nd gen 8gb digitizer to replace a ipod touch 2nd gen 16gb broken one

  • @Jason03p yeah you can

  • Dudeee, your awsomee :D!

  • what can i use in place of the tool im suposed 2 use 2 replace digitizer??

    answer ASAP

  • @Macaroni529 your dick if its small or a knife

  • Use a butter knife if you want to fix it for free. i did it and it worked to remove the screen. Then I used the part u hold to kind of hammer the sides back around the new screen. Thumbs up me if you appreciate my advice. :)

  • For 1 - Great job making videos to help others. Just some tips. Start at the top and place a item obstructing it fromclosing. then run the blue tool along the sides. Instead of trying to rip it up okay.. Good job though

  • Yay! Thank you!

  • the touch sensitive is the digitizer or the screen cauz i broke my digitizer but is not reponding ! plz i need help! i need to change mi digitizer? or mi ipod is gone! it's one ipod touch 2g!

  • @bigbooba67 Buy a replacement on ebay, they're cheap, and replace it as seen in this video. I dropped mine in water so im replacing the battery and digitizer, but the parts haven't come yet. hopefully itll work.

  • You're not supposed to force the screen up, just slide the tool round the outside

  • im thinking of buying a digitizer for my ipod 3g and i dont want to buy it with a repair kit if i dont can i still remove the screen with something and if i can what with?

  • I have tools that look exactly like yours, but when i try to popup the digitizer, the metal from the ipod start chipping off the plastic of the tool.

    What am i doing wrong?

  • I'm really scared to repair my iPod screen. ):

  • @daytonjuniors15 you probably should be.....i broke mine :( but then ordered a new screen and again replaced it.....lol

  • those blue and brown tools are guitar picks lol XD

  • i want an white iPod touch digitizer and button thumbs up for that

  • I give you 2 thumbs up. My daughter had me repair her ipod and the first video we watched had the guy run the plastic tool around the lens and it popped right out separate from the housing. In reality the glass is glued to the digitizer frame and it all took a ton of prying just as your video showed. Those other videos are being dishonest and faked.

  • god damnit man... I ended up cracking the glass because of you. Fuck.... There was no other way it's too delicate and glued on too hard. I was VERY careful, but the glass popped almost immediately as soon as I tried going around the edges. Fuck....

  • @ibex333 how is it his fault that you broke the glass?

  • does apple repairs this kind of problems?

  • @carlostron11 They do, they charge a ridiculous price.

  • if i live in el paso, from where can i buy a digitizer

  • Is the digitizer the part that makes it touch screen

  • I bought a new digitizer for my ipod and well i took out the broken digitizer because it totaly f*cked and made me mad lol. Any when i was taking it off i noticed a cable was attached to and i ripped it because i used to much force....does the new digitizer come with that new cable or am i f*cked?

  • @kskate91 ribbon cable always comes with the digitizer!

  • there is a total of 13 clips 4 on the left and right 1 on top next to the power button and 2 on the bottom next to the little connection port. so when you going to open first stick the pry tool in the then slide it to the left then you right

  • on mine .. what i ment to say

  • I think THe part you connect the Digitizer cable to the itouch is broken or gone

  • haha they sent him a guitar pick as one of the tools... way to improvise!

  • @soreskild me 2

  • lol u destroyed the poor original screen... it wasnt that badly cracked...

  • im a windows guy and my freind gave me a broken ipod, it works but the digitizer is total, but when he dropped it he made a dent in the side so the screen came out like cake

  • It seems to me these iPods are made as throwaway devices. Getting the digitizer screen off proved MUCH harder on my iPod, than on an iPhone 1, and the display got damaged in the process and the picture is shite now. Can barely be used, but will still play music, so I gave it to a friend who only wants to play music.

BE WARNED: IT IS EASY TO MUCK THIS UP.

  • guitar picks!

  • When you cracked the screen that was a fail.(like if you agree) but a way easier tool to use is a craft knife, not those cheap plastic tools.

  • is this process similar for the 4th gen?

  • 2:52 and if your screen is cracked youll probably crack it some more like i did LMFAO

  • dont get cocky i did and ripped the little cord ittears eaisily i dont need it but did this for fun and now need a new screen haha

  • thnx ma frnd

    god bless u

  • is the home button and circuit for the home button same as on the 2g as i have bought a new digitizer but i have no home button but my friend has a 4g he has cracked screen and will be getting new digitizer and home button

  • I just got an ipod touch 4th gen and the screen has a crack just like this one in the video is there any kits for the ipod touch 4th gen?? please respond

  • @wesblood007 search ebay, im in the same situation

  • the repair kit comes with guitar picks?

  • now the digitizer is $13 on ebay heres the link h ttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260711945533&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

  • I just replaced my touch screen, first thanks for the great video. The touch worked before. I replaced screen it powers up but doesn't respond to touch. please help me!

  • Just whip out a hair dryer to melt the glue hold the frame in. Makes it easier to pry out. M

  • Guys. Just buy an entire new front part for like $30 bucks it's a screen with button and Everything so all you have to do is replace the front part

  • so i have a 2g right but the touch pad stop working so if i buy a new screen for it will it work again??

  • i have a 2g but i bought a 3g screen will it not work on my ipod?

  • does the new digitizer also replace the light, because my light went out

  • @beast1419

    no thats only touch part..

  • how much does it cost if you went to the apple store and asked them to do it for you?

  • @1995a1995z go to amazon and look up ipod touch dramatizer, it comes with the screen and some tools. i got mine forrrrrr 15 bucksish. But do not go to apple, charge like 130 bucks for repairs, i called em one day and yea.

  • When the plastic tools aren't strong enough, but the metal tools seem too risky, this is when the other tools (guitar pick thing) is handy

  • Do they sell the stuff to fix it at stores or where

  • @TarereOnDeck ebay, about $10

  • water got in a crack of my digitizer and now the ipod wont turn on at all...do u think replaceing the digitizer will help

  • Can someone please tell me how i remove the ribbon cable w/out fucking up?

  • where can i get the new digitizer and screen?

  • I have 2 give u props on making a video where u actually show how hard it is to take out an ipod screen. Everyone else on here post these vidoes on screen replacement, but dont show u how hard it actually is, and will either already have the screen off, or the clips released. Making it look so simple. Those plastic tools suck and get cut up on the metal casing of the ipod. I used a razor blade, but dulled the edge of it.

  • the tip of the plastic tool broke when i was trying to pry the screen off?

    what do i do now?

  • Thanks for the whole explain of attaching the ribbon cable n stuff. my dad and I had a tough time replacing te digitizer and frame/bezel. You really helped us out. Thanks!

  • 2:22 finger

  • do they have the back piece?

  • @ericngo77 no

  • That "Brown Thing" is a guitar pick

  • Was that brown thing a guitar pick?

  • Lol dude, I was thinking the same thing!

  • lol the blue thing and the brown thing are guitar picks they are used to strum an electric or acoustic guitar...xD...i wonder why it came with two guitar pics???

  • good video, in my experience fixing these the danger in using the screwdriver is that if your not very careful you can damage the lcd screen while prying, very easily. Then is must be replaced and it's not as cheap as the digitizer.

  • Im buying one where my digitizer and frame is all already premade so do i just pop it in the ipod?

  • @davidx3601 yes you do

  • When you 1st took it off, you were sopose to push those plastic spoon thingies inside the corners until you felt the screen slowly go up from both sides then down, then carefully pick it up with the other blue thingy with a edge. See this was your 1st time xP I'm going to do this to take some dirt or idk what from the inside screen.

  • those plastic ones are crappy, i ALWAYS chunk them up haha

  • my lcd doesnt work what could be wrong.. :-(

  • @motherbord09 what do you mean by it doesn't work? What happens when you turn on the ipod?

  • The best job I've seen on these is with an xacto knife.. I was having a hard time like you at the beginning, watched another vid, dude does it in like 1 min. I ended up using a UTILITY KNIFE (stanley type, not a boxcutter, those break) because I couldn't find my xacto (typical...)

  • Dude, you're doing it completely wrong....no wonder you had so much trouble.

  • how do i fix my ipod touch 2nd generation backlight?

  • @MacBooker4444 By replacing the whole LCD.

  • @wardjee I don't think it is just that.

  • I wonder how the people at the apple store take off the glass.

  • @weinerschnitzelboy They have a tool, like a clamp with a suction cup, that mounts the ipod on and suctions the class right off. Easy.

  • u make it look so hard that I would never want to try this myself cause Id be afraid to damage my ipod. I think I'll pay to have someone do this for me. My ipod was stolen and the person scratched it all up and now that the police got it back for me I need to replace the glass screen that is all scratched up and cracked.

  • is it possible not to break the frame?

  • @Luckfatez Yes the frame is plastic and very very delicate. I broke mine and it had the be glued back together and now it looks like crap.

  • @stopidmunkey2164 DOES THE SCREEN COME WITH THE FRAME AND THE CABLE ATTACHED TO THE SCREEN??

  • so, wait, my ipod touch (2g) works just fine, i can play games and everything! it's just that the front panel is cracked. is the digitalizer the same thing as the front panel?

  • @inuyasha5114 Yes. Sorry for the delay. My notifications were not being delivered for the entire month of June.

  • I have a strip across the middle of my screen that wont respond to my touch. But everywhere else on the screen works perfectly fine. Would that be a digitizer problem??

  • @rae0028 Sounds like it. But I am not sure of the cause. Sorry for the delay. My notifications were not being delivered for the entire month of June.

  • Can you make a video on How to change/replace ipod touch 2g audio jack?....

  • Can you make a video on How to change/replace ipod touch 2g audio jack?....

  • best tutorial i have ever seen helped alot thanks man

  • This is the best tutorial EVER! Thanks so much, It work for my damaged Iphone 2g. Thanks

  • @CyberODC does this work if you CAN turn it on but cant slide power off ('I'm Guessing i just let power die or let it enter DFU mode and touchscreen doesnt repond') What about that Digitizer ribbon around the LCD screen how do take it off.

  • @prizes99live Something like that happened to me when some apps crashed. I just let it power itself down. Sorry for the delay. My notifications were not being delivered for the entire month of June.

  • The replacement part I bought said that it was a "fully assembled digitizer, frame, and home button flex",so what will i need to do to repair it

  • @yomegaman13 Very little. Remove old digitizer and frame then snap in the new one. Sorry for the delay. My notifications were not being delivered for the entire month of June.

  • Why did you make a video wthout prior knowledge. You did it all wrong, but I give you credit cause your not some proffesional showing how easy it is, you actually showed and average person's electronic stuggles.. Touche

  • @P0lntL3sS Someone had to do it. :-)

  • where do you buy the digitizer???how much???

  • @XxBoRiKuAsOxX

ebay around £10 or 13-15 dollars

  • 1:50 ish i think theyre guitar picks

  • 1:50 ish i think theyre guitar picks

  • the brown thing is a guitar pick no offence tho

  • does this damage the metal?

  • @caseylou1000 No.

  • does this damage the metal frame in any way?

  • @caseylou1000 No. Sorry for the delay. My notifications were not being delivered for the entire month of June.

  • What do i do if my ipod cant turn off..? wit for battery to die then do it?

  • @Otaybay Yes. Did an application crash? Sorry for the delay. My notifications were not being delivered for the entire month of June.

  • my screen is already falling out -10 dollars on the price :)

  • if my ipod 2gs screen cracked can i replace it with my ipod 1gs screen that quit working because of water damage? both are touches

  • @chey101293 Now -- they are different screens.

  • How much was the replacement screen?

  • @jrishere135 About $20. Sorry for the delay. My notifications were not being delivered for the entire month of June.

  • the screen on my ipod tough 2g is very very dark and the touch screen is unresponsive. would replacing the digitizer fix both issues?

  • @TheOmnipotentidiot Not sure. There could be another cause for the problem. Sorry for the delay. My notifications were not being delivered for the entire month of June.

  • @TheOmnipotentidiot It might have been exposed to water. Are the strips inside of you headphone jack white? If so this might be the cause of dim screen and unresponsive digitizer. But no replacement of just the digitizer would not fix the problem you would have to replace the LCD screen at the same time which is harder than the Digitizer!

  • @TheOmnipotentidiot no ur lcd screen burnt out so u have to go buy a new one if u havent already got a new ipod

  • @TheOmnipotentidiot it would fix the unresponsive issue on the screen.. but you would also need a new backlight.

  • Its a guitar pick at 1:47 =)

  • My iPod got wet and i wanna open it to dry it or something but without knowing it got wet i plug into my computer and it was also dead so who knows if it would ever work again it might of try to charge but being wet it must of damage itself so i wanna i open it but im afraid i crack the screen hehe

  • Just finished repairing my IPod Touch and it took me about an hour. Thanks for your upload it helped a lot! I found the tools that were provided useful. One tip though is to wiggle the screen out and not just pry it open with brute force. Indeed it is nearly impossible not to break the plastic frame, although I super glued it back together and worked like a charm. Heating up the frame with a blow dryer really helped remove the broken glass and the glue melted enough to be reused. Thanks!

  • do you have a link to buy all of what you suggest. I see a digitizer and some prying tools for 12 bucks but what frame are you talkign about? the entire metal shell?

  • @paintballgundown8 Search ebay for "ipod 2g Digitizer."

  • How much was the kit and the digitizer?

  • Lol You was opening the ipod wrong, Don't prey the screen off push down to release the clips.

  • is there a diffrence between genration of digitizer

  • I just pulled my glass screen off because it was not sensing my fingers. it was cracked. now from what i understand, if i just bought a new glass screen off ebay and put it on my ipod will work agian? Also how do i know if i damaged anything while pulling the screen off? i used a razor knife and a few flat head screw drivers now the LCD screen does not sense finger movments right?

  • can i have your old screen?

  • it is so much easier to use a very fine flat head/ flat blade whichever word you chose to use, just find the weak spots next to the clips....(clips:explained- you will feel the clips blocking certain spots around the itouch, those are the clips!) get as close to them as you can and pry the very very i mean very small screwdriver against the back plate [not towards the glass] make sure your deep enough into ipod when you pry if not it'll just do the same and crack.....hopefully this will help!!!

  • I think thats a guitar pick

  • i got my gfs itouch wet n then da touch screen stopped wrking n i was shitting my pants so i went out to replace it n it was gunna cost me 120 then i was like wait i should try to return it first to best buy lol then like 2 days later i tried it again n it was working i was so happy i did't repair it

  • II have ipod touch 1st gen and the opening tools don't fit into gaps

  • man, turn a damned light on already :)

great video though, very helpful and nice to see it done as i am likely to do (like a first timer!)

  • i just repaired one for someone else and then fucking dropped it and broke bothe the lcd and digitizer, fuck sake i want to throw shitty ipod touch into outer space. why are they so fucking delicate??? useless shite

  • I went through the same as this guy and was very nervouse at the same but I got it to work and look new! Ohh yeah I think that brown thing is a guitar pick?? Looks like one when I bought a digitizer so I got a free guitar pick. Haha
