This was actually the third recording of this tune. First was by Smoke (Mo-Soul 1971, 1971); the second, using the same instrumental backing track, by Love Unlimited (single 20th Century TC-2025 and on album "Under the Influence of Love Unlimited, T-414, 1973); and then this, which was done all anew. From what I could tell, this was also recorded at the same time as the recording of the vocal version of "Love's Theme" by Love Unlimited as on their "In Heat" LP (T-443).
Smoke consisted of Jackie Lee (a.k.a "Earl" of Bob & Earl) and Tracey Andrews; this was their only known record. The B-side, "Love Let's Be Happy Now," was produced by Bob Relf (the other half of the Bob & Earl duo); amazingly, both sides were arranged by White and Gene Page, though only the "Oh Love" side was produced by White.
One of his great tracks, absolutely wonderful. I remember buying this album as a US import prior to UK release (Sept 1974 I think), it was a far superior pressing than the British PYE ones which were awful. I still play it !

Agree that this is one of Barry's best tracks. He was on a roll at this time.

@musiclover59 - This turned out to be the only song that was recorded by both Love Unlimited and Barry White.
