If you receivers are running bit slow, think about delete some recordings, and take it off native mode. You won't get a replacement for receiver slowness. There is something else you can do but I forgot (:

Just ordered the HR24, can't wait. DirecTV cannot guarantee getting one so you need to buy it from a DirecTV retailer. If you buy from a retailer you are sure to get NEW equipment not used...
@InspireImages Sorry to hear that, but 2 things come to mind (1) I'm a regular guy, I don't work for DIRECTV and (2) did you actually call DIRECTV? They can't service your system if you don't tell them something is wrong.

I just ordered two new HR24's.....just wondering how you change the recording quality on these receivers? Is it just a choice between standard and HD? How do you change this feature?
I'd like to see how fast it switches from one channel to another. There's nothing more annoying than wanting to flip quickly to another channel, waiting through 2 or 3 seconds lag to leave the channel you're on, get a black screen for another five seconds, then finally tune the new channel around the 9- or 10-second mark.
It's so bad that if I have two channels I want to watch, the best way to be able to flip back and forth quickly is by using double play, but that's not always an option.
i work for tech support for directv, answering inbound phone calls. this reciever is pretty sweet and working good for now, but i am sure that in the future we will do a software download and mess something up with it.
