Its amazing how he isn't grey yet! Ringo had put out some great albums in 1970s. I always wondered why he took up singing and not joined a diffrent band after the break up? I read somwhere that Ringo was still on speaking terms with Paul after the split. He played on John's "P.O.B" LP and on a number George's albums to 1975. He didn't play on any of Paul's LPs until Paul's "Tug of War" LP in 1982. Paul played on Ringo's "RINGO" LP; "Rotogravure" in 1976 and "Stop and Smell the Roses" in 1981.
_continued from last comment_ ...Which is the job of a drummer. the sole purpose of a drummer is to give music a steady beat to lay on top of and to support the singer. NOT do crazy drum solos every 10 seconds or crazy out of beat fills that drive away from the song. No, Ringo has done the job amazingly which should be appreciated and never denounced because , after all, he has influenced many other drummers, including my self to pick up some drum sticks.
@MickeyLove look dude.. dont talk shit about The Beatles. because as a matter of fact "the greatest rock band of all time" can be said about The Beatles but only as a way to show that they are a really great band and changed music history. yet other bands are just as equal. its just an expression man. dont have to go all technical. opinions don't have any technicality. And Ringo is not a below average drummer. he is actually a great drummer. he is not flashy, and he blends with the song.
What the fuck's with Ringo's stupid bloody PUT ON American accent?! (And it IS put on, 'cos the silly bugger don't seem to be able to keep the bloody thing goin'!) He seems to constantly switch between Yankee and Scouse. :/
Rings definately has held up very well. I never get to see his eyes though. He's always got shades on.
George was the youngest and John being younger then Ringo by a few months. Ringo is definately the oldest, then John, then Paul by a year and a half then George, cut
@ivanabannana Can't believe he's nearly 70. Paul was my favourite but I liked Ringo. However, since his stupid comments over the past 12 months he has certainly gone down in my estimation and a lot of Liverpool people feel the same. Such a shame. Just wish he's kept his gob shut.

Currently negotiating a new contact for Thomas the Tank Engine to make him famous again, I can't think of anything else that Starkey was ever good at.
nah. He was good at a few things. Like being richer and more famous than you'll ever be. Also he was the drummer for the greatest rock band of all time?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
he was better at being richer and more famous than me? lol how old are you?
He was the drummer with Beatles yes, but they're not the greatest "rock" band of all time at all and besides, his drumming was adequate at best. It doesn't take much to be a better drummer than Starkey.
hey you the beatles is the greatest BAND in history and dont come and say that it is not true cause they changed the world with thier music and ringo is a great drummer maybe not the best drummer in your opinion but ringo is my role model and will always be. and if the beatles is not the greatest band then which BAND is
I don't recall ever dismissing the Beatles at all. You have obviously not paid attention to what was said. I stated that Starkey is a below average drummer who happened to be in the Beatles. The Beatles were a pop band of the time who progressed into other areas later, not a "rock" band really, not the greatest rock band of all time, there is no such thing, it only exists in the limited minds of those who prefer to categorize such things.
Any competent drummer could have been in the band
RE: Comments by MickeyLove01. It's not your opinions that are the problem mate, it's the way you express them, I detect snobbery and arrogance in your thinking; and a complete misunderstanding as to what makes great music. Maybe you're under the impression that it's just technical abilty.
The Beatles' music moved people, and if it leads them to over eulogize them- group or individual members - so what..? Ringo was the perfect drummer for the Beatles. Let It Be.
In reply to your question, you seem to have managed it okay...
I've got the feeling you didn't understand my points, and therefore resorted to childish comments.
So you may not understand my next point that a lot of success in life is due to being in the right place at the right time, but it does not diminish from any individuals contribution to the greater good.
I'm sure you're a cool dude, and has a copy of 'Revolver' and loves the drumming on 'Tomorrow Never Knows'.
It was your comment 'silly look on his stupid face' which revealed your childishness in this discussion. You can argue about technical superiority until you're blue in the face, but nothing will change the fact that Ringer was the best drummer FOR The Beatles. It really is that simple.
So in a way you've kind of got it right when you say their music never warranted a 'better' drummer.
A so-called 'better ' drummer would've f****** things up big time.
He does have a silly look on his face, he is known throughout the world for his gormless gaze.
I am not arguing about technical ability at all and your rather obtuse atitude is becoming tiresome, either that or you're american!
Any competent drummer could have been the drummer for the Beatles. Starkey made up for what he lacked in talent with humour, and then later alcoholic sampling. He played the clown because he was no musician.
You obviously do as you've replied three times to my comments. Listen mate, I'm not trying to change your mind.... you can discard Ringo's contributions to the Beatles success all you like.
But one fact remains:
Jon, Paul, George and Ringo trips off the tongue oh so well..!
XD You can't have a Ringo interview without Peace and Love!!!

What you mean is; don't comment any further if my opinion doesn't agree with yours. You sound like a petulant child.
You could always prove me wrong, explain in details what makes Starr a great drummer, what beats or tricks or even writing ability has he shown?

How can the phrase "technical ability" and the name Ringo Starr even be in the same sentence?
Let's face it, the chap was in the right place at the right time with the relevant stupid look on his silly face.

I hardly ever resort to childish comments, this only ever seems to happen when the recipient requires such a comment.
The Beatles music never warranted a technically superior drummer.
The comment was in response to someone who made claim to him being the best ever drummer, etc, etc
