Why is everybody hating on Def Leppard? it's an AMAZING band, i love them and if you hear albums like Pyromania or Hysteria you'll see what I'm talking about! So stop saying shit about them if you have no idea who they are and what their music's like!
i respect many groups def leopard not one cause all they do is put out horseshit gay lovesong albums that vivian campbell played for the is horrible a great guitarist with a crappy ass band
@gpotruch Have you even heard Def Leppard properly? They do have some love songs (especially during their later career) but albums like Pyromania and Hysteria are pure hard rock-mania with fantastic rock songs.
@GoodGuitarSolos Def Leppard sucks. Theyre not even rock, theyre pop. And dont give me any of that have you even heard them shit because i have. I know theyre terrible, even with a guitarist like Vivian Campbell. Def Leppard SUCKS!
@MrNumberonebass Shame that they were a rock band, stating otherwise would be like saying that Jimi Hendrix didn't play guitar: it is just silly and awkward.
@MrNumberonebass The album "High and Dry" rocks harder than anything Dio ever put out. Pyromania just proved how great they really were. And I kind of just ingore anything after Hysteria. Although, I still like it. Good music is good music whether its heavy or not. But, Def Leppard aren't the same band during High and Dry. During high and dry they were BETTER than Dio. Yes, way better!
@MrNumberonebass im afraid that the only songs youve ever heard from def leppard are pour some sugar on me and other song of their teeny pop era... explore a bit before assuming they are pop
IMO he's one of the most underrated guitarists EVER... i don't want to make comparisons, but i've never understood all this randy rhoads and dimebag darrell worship.... anyway his solos are among my all times' favourites.
@00665555 What? Dio didn't make any comeback because of Viv, he continued a marvelous flow of great music he had because he is Dio.
Let me tell you something: Rainbow wasn't great because of Blackmore, and post-Ozzy Sabbath wasn't great because of Iommi. These bands were Great because of Ronnie James DIO - King of metal and a greater musician this guy could ever be.
@CentraCross OK maybe "comeback" was the wrong word. Dio was always great. Great in Rainbow, Sabbath and solo. Viv accented Dio's greatness. I've been a great fan of both musicians. I was learning to play guitar in the 80's and greatly admired Viv's playing; as well as Randy's too.
@zenlikestate / What a shame he has turned his back on the best music and playing of his career! Does he even realize where and what era most of his fans come from?
@maxitee It's from Def Leppard DVD called 'Def Leppard - Visualize / Video Archive'. That Video Archive features their performances in Sheffield Stadium, also the one in the video!
@lstn74 If you didn't notice, I'm calling Vivian awesome guitarist and said that his best stuff can be found during his Dio years... Where the hell do people like you come from?
@MissEgasMoniz / I 'm with on that one. Thank God he kept his douche bag face shut when Ronnie passed and didn't try to take another cheap shot at him.
whats the name of the song that viv's playing at 1:19 on the following vido link watch?v=PtTKLo0fZ8g ......not this video. any help will be appreciated.
@turnbacktime If you are talking about the part at 1:19-1:22, it's the first solo in this video too: Amazing "Last in Line", my favourite solo by him!
The First video I ever heard Vivian on was Dio's last in line and I was blown away.. I love Dio and followed throught Rainbow, black sabbath and Dio but When Vivian left Dio the band just wasent the same. As far as I an concerned, DIO wasen't just RJD's band, Vivian was also a key member of that band. What is the thing that you remember most about Dio's first couple of albums? For me it was the Guitar work. I never heard anything like it before or since. Vivian was ground breaking IMHO.
I agree! I haven't been so interested in new Dio stuff, I've listened to some of his new songs, but something's missing.
Vivian's wild soloing and riffs were big part of Dio's lineup. I always think Last in Line is their best work, great clean playing in the beginning and the solo just blows me away!
Awesome! Would have liked to have seen some of the Whitesnake stuff, he was arguably on top of his game there. Only studio recording was a single mix of Give Me All Your Love though...
"Last In Line" solo inspired the hell out of me, I want to understand this wheel effect he's talking about. I got the Hammer on's pull offs and arpeggio sweeps but I've never mastered the wheel thing that is a big part of Vivian's style.
Without a shadow of a doubt, Vivian is one of the best rock guitar players ever. His playing and feel for the instrument are of the highest class. Great rhythm player too!!! To this day, his contribution to rock still blows me away, and I recommend any serious player to check out his work, because you can apply it to any style of music..
He has actually really hard solos to play, I was really surprised to find out that Last in Line is harder than many other guitar solos I've trained to play.
I've always thought that Viv had the best tone of the players in the 80's. Especially his rythm sound. He and Yngwie were my 2 fav players back then. I got to see them both together in Seattle on the Sacred Heart Tour in 85.
@michaels2boys Yea i had the chance to see him twice, and yes he was awesome, but his attitude changed after Dio discovered him. He was amazing on the albums he did with Dio , then his ego got larger than his talent!!! What a prick!
@gagebrwn...seriously, High and Dry...wow u don't know talent and what rocking really is...geeeeeez

Let's see how that would turn out.
