In fact, there was also supposed to be a special feature called Stop N' Swap which was supposed to tie these two games together. However that was dropped, yet the unfinished programming remains. Look it up on Youtube to find out more.

Yes, it's made by Rare. Hell, they even reused some of the sound effects. If you listen closely, you'll hear that Diddy Kong shares some of the voice files used for Kazooie.

Well, I can't say for sure, but they SOUND similar anyway.
