  • god learn how to shift, can;t stand it when amateurs bounce it off the friggin rev limiter!

  • I heard you're supposed to hit the rev limiter as much as possible before shifting, the sound adds 15+ hp.

  • Slow for the cone zone....douche

  • i must of missed the heavy accelerating

  • wow you fitted it with a 50cc making good use of that 9bhp by the looks of it !

  • that was literally the biggest waste of 19 seconds in my life

  • What's up rev limiter?

  • atom v8 is way better

  • most people are like riceeeeeeer riccceeeeeer if they hear a honda or other japanese. but in this atom they dont realise that it has a honda V-tec engine :)

    and honda OWNS :)

  • @supermotardmario Bitch Please! Every Japanese cars is really good, they are very cheap too.

  • @Vixhall what ? thats what i meant idiot, you are the bitch.

  • @Vixhall I'm really sorry, I was replying to wrong person.

  • muito louco

  • one of the fastest production cars in the world...

  • learn to drive

  • people! dont zoom the bloody car when its accelerating bcs it looks like its standing!

  • @danteoverlord ya ive noticed that to. you lose all reference for the actual speed its going.

  • do yu have to wear a helmet?

  • @SR20SSS nahh, but it sure is sensible to!

  • @crackerstolemybike Although htowngoonies has a limited and rather retarded vocabulary, your actually the main retard here. He is right, you are a waste of space and just another unhappy 20yr old virgin talking crap on youtube comments. Maybe you need the helment, retard.

  • @mankindsonly It's you're instead of your.

  • Gay

  • thats not a car its scaffold tubes on wheels

  • u have 2 wear a helmet 2 drive this thing? if so looks retarded

  • @htowngoonies faggot, no you dont.

  • @crackerstolemybike "faggot, no u dont" lmfao ur a wildman. wtf is wrong wit u. i was askin a question. i would smash ur lil bitch ass if i ever seen u. thats y u say the shit u say, cuz u know noone will see u. ur jus a youtube hero, big man behind that keyboard. fuckin pussy kid

  • @htowngoonies are you fucking serious? i said that because i meant it, its very fucking stupid to ask a question like that. and im saying it on youtube because thats most convenient. im not gonna come to your house just to call you out on something you said over the internet, when i can just type it right now and get it over with?

also stop pretending you are a hard man, you are weak fucking bitch and thats why you flipped out when i called you a faggot.

  • @crackerstolemybike it was jus a question. i ask becuz i dont fuckin own 1 n didnt no u fuck. ur jus a shit talker, u said it urself. so fuck u bitch. ur jus a waist of space

  • @htowngoonies im the waste of space? holy fucking shit. everybody, read htowngoonies comments, point and lol. you realise what a waist is right? and whats a becuz? ROFL.

  • @htowngoonies Unless you want some flies smacking against your skin...

  • isn't the atom 60k

  • shame the boy cant shift

  • lol the honda go cart. a taste of K20 power in a light weight chassis. looks pretty darn fun to me

  • nice rev limiter check

  • how many of you have actually driven an ariel? Y'all are all on this guys case without any knowledge that this car has a super light clutch and no torque and that aids to the fact that it revs super fast meaning before you know it (or trying not to accelerate hard) you are at the rev limiter. I guess everybody is Micheal Schumaker on youtube. please post vids of your track days and I will critique your driving.

  • @TheDealinDave it sure looks slow to me man what are the quartermile times on these

  • @Beatupstang 0-60 in under three that's faster than our 600+hp viper that is whats crazy. quarter drops off to 12+ seconds because of gearing and aforementioned lack of torque.

  • these are legal in the US?

  • That transmission could use someone with at least a little knowledge on how they work. Poor thing.

  • The helmet thing is so gay.

  • Is this a dune buggy or a car??

  • @dnaisinmybody it'a a car.

  • learn how to change gear

  • with that poor shifting and redlining, a moped might beat you off the line

  • didn't know they sold these to americans :S

  • @BOOSSHH we've had 3 show up here in Great Falls, VA

  • @DownShiftRecords really? i haven't seen any. i live in GF. where are you?

  • @BOOSSHH Dude watch top gear the British version they have all the sweet ass cars you can buy in america, they are kick the fuck ass

  • @BOOSSHH lol

  • @BOOSSHH we have a ton of them in colorado. but not many people buy them to slow for the cost

  • @BOOSSHH uh....they are made in america.....

  • @BOOSSHH - they've been selling them in the US for ages now.

  • Vtech just kicked in yoooooo

  • Going from riding the clutch to bouncing the limiter... reminds me of when I was 10..

  • @blackt0wer dude, shut the fuck up.... its a nice car! i dont see you driving a car you built yourself. SHUTUP

  • @mattcory619 Hey dumb fuck - I said nothing about the car, I was complaining about the driving. I pray that you're not so fucking stupid that you don't even know the difference between a driver of a car and the car itself.

  • @mattcory619 you do realize its a arial atom(a pre-manufactured vehicle) he didnt build shit. doubt if he could change the oil

  • @blackt0wer hahaha :)

  • the limiter kicked in because he missed a gear lol learn how to drive a stick ? lol

  • i guess that's what the limiter is there for....learning.

  • ricer shift

  • Nice blown engine sound

  • Why does this video have so many dislikes?

  • @wesintx crap driving skills? let it bounce off redline like a typical honda owner. I know it's not a honda, but if that's a new one it's a Kseries motor with a blower.

  • atom vs the trex

  • supercharged k20 ftw

  • Nice Go-Cart

  • even though you dont believe it, that car is as just as fast as a bugatti and a koennisseng or even faster thn those two cars.

  • @TheManny614 no the acceleration is just as fast as those cars. the top speed isnt there though

  • @TheManny614 Shifter karts out-accelerate all of them. Power to weight ratio.

  • heavy amnesia... thought he was driving his Caddy

  • tappin off the rev limiter at like 10k nice

  • damn some one teach this dude how to drive. save some clutch for tommorow.

  • Only pussys use front windshield in Ariel Atom :P

  • Sequential manual > Dual-clutch automatic > Manual > Slush-box automatic

Now you can all stop arguing and go back to looking at videos of kittens.

  • @luminaeus You, sir summed it up pretty well. High five?

  • well shifting on time will help ;)

  • I don't know if anybody in this argument races old fords, but over half at the strip I've seen are running built c4's. AKA a 3 speed automatic. They are easy/cheap to rebuild, very light weight, and you can run it through the gears faster then anybody jamming a standard through the gears.

  • @IGotYourBack91 i kno what u mean auto is faster in a straight line, quicker shifts,i dont think it will be much use on a road track tho.

  • @IGotYourBack91 The point of having MORE gears is to keep the engine running in the RPM band where it makes the most power. Fewer gears would require the RPMs to drop too far after a shift into an RPM band where power isn't very optimal.

  • haha driving automatic certainly does not mean you're lazy. Stick gets annoying day after day, and it even more so in the winter and city driving. The difference is speeds is literally less than 1.5 seconds in most cases so the automatic pros out-weigh the stick pros.

  • @nobrakesonthistrain Until you're going uphill and the automatic shifts after you've already lost a lot of inertia and engine power. Also shifting on its own in tight corners when you're ready to power out of the apex. Manual rules for people who know how to use them.

  • @wc4pwned no, actually semi auto are the best. thats why paddle shifters have replaced the H pattern. because the engine control is nice, but computers always shift faster than man

  • @Kawasakiforlife7 Manufacturer's torque converters will never compete with a good clutch. High-end converters are too expensive to put into factory vehicles. Even with the paddle shifters, if it shifts fasts, that doesn't mean it engages fast.

  • nice driving moran haha

  • @paweloproxa nice spelling moron, haha

  • Pitty he can't change gear

  • @ExecutionerThe He was drag shifting, didn't take his foot off the gas while on the clutch. Lots of people do it, especially with a Honda engine like this one. He just didn't shift very fast, or else the clutch was slipping pretty bad.

  • A dual clutch auto transmission is much faster than a manual.

  • Must be nice to be rich. At least some people aren't effected by the economy. In my case my job got sent to China, so people like this can save money and spend more money on shit like this when I can't even afford to eat.

  • Automatic transmission: Faster, more fuel efficient, more gears, and a great daily driver

    Manual transmission: Cheaper to manufacture

  • @jakubgt1 Manual Transmissions are not slower, they actually have much better acceleration times, and usually automatic transmissions have less gears thus being slower. Automatic transmissions are for people that dont want to be in total control of their cars and or are lazy. Manual is the way to go!

  • @Santacruiser411 I am all about driving manual, but these days automatics switch gears faster and smoother than almost anyone can shift manually.

  • @Santacruiser411

Drag cars only use sequential automatic transmissions

Formula 1 uses sequential automatic transmissions

Rally cars use sequential automatic transmissions

    2011 GTI 6spd 0-60: 6.4 sec

    2011 GTi DSG 0-60: 5.7 sec

Manuals are slow compared to an automatic, no human will ever shift faster than a computer.

  • @jakubgt1 and no computer will ever be more fun then a manual

  • he hit the rev limiter simply because he is a shit driver.....end of

  • Why are there so many dislikes? That was sweet! No he did not miss a shift that was what you call wheel spin on a dirty road because of the construction. Look at the rear suspension squat when he hits 2nd gear.

  • @172speedy that is clearly the engine bouncing off the rev limiter, but it does not mean he sucks at shifting all the time.

  • @EugeneF15 I never said he wasn't bouncing off of the rev limiter. Thats what engines do at WOT when there is no traction

  • @172speedy You don't know what you're talking about, it's hilarious

    !

  • @burnhambikerboy Dude go back to watching bike videos because thats all you know about.

  • holy shit what a terrible driver

  • Only Poof's have windscreens.

  • @89dieselpower. You should know your place before you start making such accusations. *badum tsss* fail.

  • On the topic of stick shift in America... It's basically like an anti theft device over here : )

  • If you guys look he was spinning on dust n such... just saying

  • This guys clutch wont last long!

  • thosec things are awsome

  • The whole point of having a manual is so you don't have to change at the same point and you can bang into the limiter to show off if you really want, you have more control. Only Americans post comments talking about how people 'suck at changing gear', the fact is a middle aged European woman can 'shift' better than most Americans (although now automatics are getting more common). You have to take a special auto-only test in the UK if you can't drive a normal 'stick', it limit's you to only auto.

  • @ImHereToAnnoyYou yea I heard about the strict testing standards in other countries like Germany and Australia, and I wish America were more strict.

  • @ImHereToAnnoyYou That generalization is completely absurd. The fastest 6-speed cars in the world are driven by Americans. One of the only two 7 sec stock trans cars is driven by an American, the other is not a Eurpoean. You're going to talk about Americans not being able to dive stick while companies like Ferrari don't even offer an stick any longer lol. This guy shifted just fine and spun second, his shifting is just fine.

  • @iPROFITDON You clearly haven't understood my point, there's nothing wrong with this clip, yet inexperienced people are commenting like there is because they clearly aren't used to driving manual transmission cars, perhaps like yourself.

The reason I say that is you're talking about drag racing where autos and semi-autos rule, and you assume I've said things I haven't.

Fastest car in the solar system is European with an English 7 speed DSG.

He didn't spin 2nd, he hit the limiter.

  • @ImHereToAnnoyYou You clearly misunderstand my whole point, or skipped the first sentence of my post.

The reason I say that is because I know smooth/powerglides and such rule the strip, running a 7 sec second 1/4 mile with a standard takes an incredible amount of skill, and are driven by Americans.

Assuming only Americans post comments like that is ridiculous to say the least.

Fastest stock car yes, but they're much quicker cars than that Veyron with a 6 speed, stock and modified

    Listen again

  • @iPROFITDON You're just copying what I said.

A 7 second 1/4 mile with a MANUAL 6 speed transmission and a foot operated clutch? So to get a 7 second time you'd have to be using maybe 5 of those gears, which means 4 changes. Pointless? Maybe. Mean you can change gear properly? Nope, not especially. It's not all about how fast you change gear 'on the strip', that is a typical US style stick comment

Yeah and a rocket is faster than a seagull, hold on whilst I call Big Whoop magazine..

  • @ImHereToAnnoyYou I'm not copying, just answering to you o:}

Yes, 7 second 1/4 mile with a standard stick manual 6 speed transmission and foot clutch in a street car. To run 7s you'll go through 4 gears just like any other car. Pointless? Is that a joke? No it is not about shifting as fast as possible in this case. You powershift a 1500rwhp Viper with a stock t56 and it's over for your transmission.

    A rocket isn't any faster when driven by a monkey now is it. :}

  • @iPROFITDON Ok, but changing gear on a drag strip is a straight forward situation in which to do it, literally! It's not like whilst cornering, braking or over a crest etc.

That Viper driver might not be able to drive a manual around a track very well at all, he may not even be able to heel-toe.

You could make an argument for saying rockets are nearly driven by monkeys ;)

  • @ImHereToAnnoyYou x} don't think we're going to fully agree here.

  • @ImHereToAnnoyYou Most cases it is about how quickly a smoothly you can grab the next gear however.

    I'm not going to argue with you on the proper way to shift gears x}

  • wtf windscreen? And that change, jeeez

  • I STILL have top comment? jeez...

  • @lambofreak98 wanna Donut

  • In Europe for example, where I am from, U do learn in the Driving School how to shift with manual transitions as there is the stick one.... If u kno how to shift gears with stick... then u also know how to drive automatic transitions....

  • genuine question, do most american drivers not know how to drive a car with a manual transmission? I only ask because people seem to make a big deal of it there (from what i've seen anyway). and if thats true, i wonder why they don't bother to learn, i'm sure they could.

  • @launchsquid From an article on AOL Autos "In 1985, according to Ward’s Communications, 22.4% of all vehicles sold in the United States came with a manual transmission. By 2007, the number had plummeted to 7.7%." Unfortunately, most people here either don't have the opportunity or desire to learn. It is considered more manly if you know how.

  • @launchsquid Good point! What is the answer Yank peeps?

  • Oh sweet, everyone in the comments section is Schumacher with a gearbox. Honored to be in your presence guys. I'm American you see, and there's a 3rd pedal on my car and it scares and confuses me. Do you guys offer lessons?? Please help.

  • You guys are going kinda hard on the stick topic. Although I've lived in the US my entire life, my family drives nothing but manual transmission.

Our 2000 Toyota 4Runner is stick

Our 2005 Infiniti G35 Sedan is stick

Our 2011 Ford Fiesta is stick

Right now I'm in the market for a 1980-'83 Datsun 200SX S110 in stick

or a 1970-'72 Datsun 510 Wagon in stick.

If anything, I feel more cars should be stick which would lead to what I would call "Natural Road Selection" if you catch my drift

  • @DownShiftRecords Get over yourself, driving stick doesn't make you cooler. It's a new age all should just be automatic, it gives the driver more attention to the road/safety.

  • @Necronaut wow it is the complete opposite. automatic gives you the ability to do everything else but drive. plus youve got almost no throttle control. and gurenteed an automatic would loose to the same car in a manual transmission.

  • @ihatecivicssomuch thanks for proving my point, its not about speed its about safe trips from point A to point B. sure manual is good for legal and illegal racing. but thats a small percentage of actual vehicles out there.

  • @Necronaut nah id prefer stick to auto anywhere. and i live in washington dc. prob the worst drivers in the country, yeah sure sometimes i wish i didnt have to dick with a clutch in stop and go traffic. but, eh. doesnt bother me that much.

  • @ihatecivicssomuch obviously it doesnt bother u if you drive one, u missed my point completely though o well.

  • @ihatecivicssomuch Ever driven a DSG? There are exceptions.

  • @Necronaut Spoken like a true ignoramus.

  • @Necronaut Not it doesn't you fucking idiot. Manual gives you more control over your car.

  • @motsew ok, for all you dumbasses who cannot read. i know manual give more control with gears and speed, but driving isnt all about that, actually its not about that at all unless you get paid to race. two hands on the wheel at all times gives you much more controll then one on the shifter. why do you think f1 cars have the shifters behind the steering wheel. you are all failures.

  • @Necronaut Yes because everyone who drives a manual always has his/her hands on the gear stick. I'll repeat what I said, "you fucking moron". Your point about F1 cars is also moot.

  • @Necronaut Tosser!

  • @burnhambikerboy probably the least offensive thing someone has ever called me. i guess i toss things a lot? like a ball player? cool

  • @DownShiftRecords Natural Road Selection. I like that :D! I totally get what you mean.

  • @DownShiftRecords I also have an 05 IS300 with a stick to go along with your G35

  • @DownShiftRecords I waaaay prefer a stick!

  • only americans would construct sentances like that. the correct way is "our 2000 toyota 4runner is a manual". Love to hear you ring a dealership up and ask "have you got any cars with STICK"? lol!!!

  • @RapidFoxProductions Who are you to talk about constructing SENTENCES? If you are going to be critical of anything you should be careful not to leave anything in your comment for others to criticize in return. I count four grammatical errors and a spelling error in your comment.

  • @RapidFoxProductions "Stick shift" is a common term used to describe a "manual transmission." We call it by both. Depends on who you're talking to. You're the retards that call "fish and fries" as "fish and chips", when they're obviously french fries. European cock sucker.

  • @wc4pwned Chips are different to Fries, stupid yank talking about FRENCH fries in ENGLISH and thinking he knows better then someone from Europe...

  • @mahargraham85 Oi! a chav fancied me mobile n nicked it mate! Bloody hell! I was off me tits n pissed me trousers! i was so nackered. came home proper and watched me telly in my flat with my mum! This is how you speak brit english :P

  • @blastofo Yes bruv, wen dem bloody septics gunna lern to talk proper rite like wot we do? you get me?

  • @wc4pwned You wanker. You don't know what you're talking about.

  • @wc4pwned Fries are not the same as chips LOL what a fucking yank idiot.

  • @DownShiftRecords in the uk automatic cars are quite unusal funny to think how one place its the nom and how in another its realy wired

  • americans should STICK with automatic *badum tsss*. great car though

  • @89dieselpower You should stop using this American website.

  • @SteelCityDucati everyone will stop using this website if the americans continue with their SOPA sh#t and all... you guys just can't be happy if you don't have controll over the entire planet can you

  • @89dieselpower At first, I took that with offense. Then I saw you were wearing sunglasses.

Still, that's a gross generalization - when it comes to manual transmissions, I've seen better drivers state-wise. Not that it isn't impressive in the first place - he was just a bit slow on third.

As for me, I prefer paddle shifters to a stick. It may not be as connected to the road, but it's better than letting the car shift for you during acceleration.

  • @89dieselpower Look whos socialist union is going belly up!

  • @89dieselpower When I saw *badum tsss* I thought of a turbo and a blow off valve at first.

  • I remember when I first drove a manual transmission.

  • why call a car mnufactureing company after a mermaid!?

  • In what state is this thing street legal?

  • @paullubliner i know it's street legal in california, i've seen one on the road

  • @butterfaceee THAT means nothing! What was it's licence plate number? It has to be either an old engine or an old chassis (pre1974) With an old engine you prove you built the chassis. In other words, unless you know about one other little secret, no these are not street legal in California.

  • @bmwfan4lyfe maybe, i bet its not good for it tho plus i dont think that has a honda engine in it correct me if im wrong

  • ohhh i winced in pain when i heard it redline... that causes sooo much damage to the internals

  • fail

  • zooming in and following the car on acceleration just makes it look slow like it did here!

  • I dont know if "massive"is the word to describe the acceleration on the video. I know ariel atoms have massive acceleration but it wasnt portrait in the video

  • @ricardonemez What is there a portrait of? Are you sure it wasn't more of a landscape type painting, maybe from the romantic era, I'm thinking Piccaso

  • Is that go-cart?
