I believe Nat Russell also helped the Australia Highlanders out on the way too, not sure wether this is true or not though. Can you shed any light alboyle?
@arn050686 Doesnt matter whether he helped them physically or not, his contribution to piping in Australia was phenomenal and all members of the band that have moved on to new things have brought a contribution to the bands they are now with, (Danny Boyle etc) and the ripple affect on the pipe bands of Australia is still being felt, Piping in all countries is getting stronger not weaker as a result of people appreciating something different that touches the heart on a deep level.
Inotings, the members in Aus High at the moment are David McInerney, PS John Young, PM Danny Boyle and myself. David Gilfillan, Alan Anderson and Mark Bowles have also played with the band helped along the way. Good times.
remember standin listening to this wi my toungue hingin oot...this band would cause damage today if they were still around...dream on aussie highlanders ul have to go some to reach this standard
Like you al. :-) Wernt you only 14 or something here? Big achievment at that age and great to see the highlanders with good numbers and playing well, band id really love to aim to drum with one day. Nat Russel really did do a great job with the vic police.
You can still see a number of their players playing in the ranks of Australia Highlanders and trying to continue the hard work. Great to see the vids! Great memories!
Thanks so much for sharing these. It's a real treat to finally watch the crowning achievement of one of my favourite pipe bands, whom I never got to see in the flesh.
Imo the best pipeband ever.
