People in the Church of Jesus Christ try to follow Christ's teachings. They believe we should love each another, help each other, and do good works. They try to help people who are not in their church in times of disaster. They believe in being morale and honest. Seems admirable to me whether or not you believe in all their doctrine. These young missionaries give up a lot to go try and do something they believe in and that is not easy for a 19 year old. Good for them if they live their beliefs.

@1x93cm While they put a good public face on the race issue, blacks are still at the bottom of the LDS celestial pecking order. The only reason the church now permits blacks to hold their priesthood is because the church was under pressure from the ACLU for years, BYU games were being picketed, and the last apostle who held out against it finally died in 1976.
Without that social influence, the church may have never changed its stance.

debate gets you no where when it comes to religion, maybe discussion but usually you end up being more confused especially if you get poked where you didn't want to and your negative emotions start to come into play. I've heard many stories where jehovah witnesses and LDS missionarys have a discussion and with an investigator and the JW's come out with bible bashing thunder, not to deny that they aren't good at it but usually the investigator ends up converting to LDS church, get the big picture

@plusmin09 god commanded the men who had the priesthood authority to command people to repent, this is in the bible. where do you get the idea that the LDS church treats women unequally? the LDS church does not believe in minorities, all are equal. if you truly studied religion you'd find that religion is logic but with an even bigger picture, that includes emotion as well, for example, cause and effect, if you do something good you will feel happy, do something wrong, you feel miserable

@plusmin09 as for black men, god will do what he see's fit to do in his own due time, like for instance, god waiting thousands of years before we had Jesus Christ, I won't claim to fully understand why it wasn't until then but if I were to guess, if god had a goal to build his kingdom, allowing black men the priesthood during the time of heavy racism wouldn't be a smart move, it's not that the church was racist, although at times church leaders have not said nice things about other people in

Comparing the necessity of both genders in our species to the prejudice in a specific religion only reveals the lack of exposure you've had to different cultures and thought processes.
