However the production team used the "Cybus" suits to save money. There was also talk of a new 'helmet' design at some point, but no go.

as much as I like these cybermen I think they show too much emotion considering their not supposed to have any. That's something the new cybermen have right that the old ones didn't. Although I do like them here even if they're a little off.

@firmuspiett I agree, 80s Cybermen aren't all that menacing and not really emotionless at all, but they're just such a fun villain even in otherwise rubbish stories (like Silver Nemesis, where they REALLY hit their nadir in being a serious threat, what with them getting killed by a slingshot and coins). I especially love the one Cyberman who finds the Doctor and the Master, he's just so smug to the Cyber Leader. "*I* have found the ones from the Tardis!"

@TsoLan1 The music cues aren't as well timed in this version though. In the original the music kicked in full as soon as they saw the Cybermen, and swelled when the Cybermen were marching towards the Doctor & co. Much better that way in my opinion. Plus they waited too long to cut the shots in this version, and seeing the Castellan suddenly pop up is very distracting.

I think the cybermen were much better in the 60s stories and the voices, more menacing and more electronic. I also found the cybermen in the 60s stories very powerful and also very, scary compared to the later stories such as Revenge of the Cybermen and the 80s stories like Earthshock, the Five Doctors, Attack of the Cybermen and Silver Nemesis which were not at all fun compared to the 60s stories which were fun and less violent.
