Been a devoted fan since 1996 after The Dark Saga.  Seen Barlow on the 2002 tour and Owens in 2004. Both were amazing. But Shaffer hit EVERY note - amazing.

First time I saw this guy when they first came in Athens I was staring like a fool with my mouth open...He was singing 101% like in the cd!!!!

Yeah of course Owen rules, he is fakn great and we love him...He is even far far better than Matt.

BUT....Matt is Iced Earth man!!! it's that simple, so why all the fuss?

I'd choose Barlow 10 times out of 10 over Ripper. Ripper is nice and all, but Barlow's voice is perfect for Iced Earth. And goddamned if he isn't BETTER live than on the records.

Matts range is ALOT wider then Rippers is, and has a better tone, IMO.

lol seriously, he may sound growly recently, but just listen to A Question of Heaven or their 'Priest cover The Ripper, you'll find that his voice pwns that of tim the ripper (not that tim was bad). Owens had only one mode: high. Barlow could growl low, roar, scream HIGHER THAN TIM COULD GO, and could do it all with a fierce vibrato. Besides, Tim's vibrato was fake, he uses his throat. Not to mention, he doesn't have a four octave range like Barlow does.

haha, here we can see it who is the better entertainer, and it´s not the long hair did him better on the stage. Ripper is just lazy on the stage, like anybody don`t know what he shall do before many peoples. Yeah,also the voice,it´s damned more powerful and with more eggs,hehe
