I love the singing this guy does. I first saw him in concert in Calgary about 11~ years ago and he was just playing with a piano and no other music and he rocked the house for *3* hours and everyone was engaged.

It's not "they" who add the effects, but the piano is electronic and you can add layers -- like symphony orchestra, etc. Anyone who plays keyboards can do this.

Actually "they" would be the sound engineer(s) who add the chorus effect to the vocal channel on the words "laughing like children, living like lovers" towards the end of this song and then turn it back off for the other lyrics that immediately follow. On other songs from this concert (listen to the end of "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me") the synthesizer element of the piano is on and then stops and comes back on during a song. I'm thinking there is someone who activates or deactivates it.
