I love this parade soo much!! I can't believe they took it away!! this was the best parade ever!!! why can't they bring it back?? they really need to bring it back so people who haven't seen it, can have a chance to watch such a magical and wondeful parade!<333
I love this parade! I actually was able to be in it one year as a dancer. It was a one time thing but man watching it is beautiful but actually being in it is just pure magic. I would love to be able to do that again :D
@skiny145 if by bring it ALL back you mean EVERY float that has ever been in the parade, that would be impractical for a few reasonsns 1) too expensive to build new versions of retired units. Parking the floats (at least at Disneyland between parades on a 2 parade night is somewhat difficult as there is only so many parking spaces available behind Town Square (between parades the floats park right behind Space Mountain
@Blu923the2nd - not often someone can stump me with a question. So I googled 'electrical parade disney wiki' to see some lists. Monstro did not appear in any of the parade lists. There is a Pinocchio float that comes before Elliot.
@ru42 Really? In my first edition book of Disneyland: Then, Now, and Forever, there is a picture of a Monstro float on the Electrical Parade page. Perhaps it's a really old, forgotten, float?
@Blu923the2nd - I see what you are talking about on p133. If it is Monstro I would assume he would follow the Pinocchio float and before the Elliott float. OK, dug up more info. Monstro appeared at the time of the America On Parade (so added 76/77) and was retired in 1983.
@Blu923the2nd he came before Elliot althgh that float was only in the parade from '77 '83 when Disneyland's version returned in '85 the Pleasure Island floats replaced it.
@Blu923the2nd when it was in the parade it came before elliott. (I'm *GUESSING* your talking about the "Pinnocchio Underwater unit which ran until '83 in California "84 in Florida) if you're talking about the lead float in the Pleasure island (which returned to the Anaheinm version of the parade in June 2009, that is actually a Fun BHouse Face
Wow, I really want to go back to Disneyland. I never got a chance to see this show because I was so young, and was already in bed. Can't believe it's been almost 17 years since was there last.
I saw this parade in florida when I was 10,I though it was the most awwsome thing in the world,I saw it again in Disneyland in 1988,then not again till 2001 in Florida again,I visited Disneyland(california) in 2005,and wanted to see it again, but it RAINED the whole 9 days I was there,so did not get to see it
god i miss this, i think the last time i was at any disneyland park, it was wat disney world in the early to mid 90s, but i do remember this parade and always will, long live the mainstreet electrical parade, and may it one day go back and stay on mainstreet.

To an exceptional child of 6 this was an absolute nightmare. I begged my folks to take me back to the hotel. It was like being forced to beleive in Santa again, but by a professionall death squad.
Death to all Disney trolls. The very worst sort. How does one kill a caracature of a human? The hate will take me to the top! p.s. all my thumbs down were by fat, stay at home (because they're useless)- moms. They're the only ones that could have possibly taken offense to my earlier and frankly, accurate assesment of the nightmare that is Disney. -and that includes unwed-male dorks of the dork persuasion. Don Bluth farts right on your eyeball.
I'm finding more and more that there's no parade at any disneyland theme park that can compare to this parade. The music, the lights, the whole feeling... it truly is a one-of-a-kind parade. Thanks for uploading this- i love it so much :)
i got the nes from a Cast Member who works in the parade. my question for you is, even if the float were still around why would it be going to Paris, The blue fairy doesn't have a float in Fantillusion
that float was only in the parade on '77 & '78 @ Disneyland ('77 only in WDW) there was another float that also used that music but a different arrangement. that float was the Birthday Cake float for Mickey's 60th Birthday (float only used at Disneyland)
This parade brought back lots of childhood memories when disney tickets were like 30 bucks or so to get in compared to the high jacked prices of today lol...and this electrical parade belongs back to DISNEYLAND!!!!...not california adventure >=/
Classic stuff right here..im 37 and will never forget this parade, brings back good childhood memories..the orginal set sits in the back of disneyland, i worked as a courier in 95 and got to see the back of disney for the first time in my life.. as a kid i always wanted to know what was in the back of disneyland..lots of people working let me tell you
OMG I'm tearing up just watching this and listening!! All the sounds, and little bugs and stuff, just so awesome!!! Brings back so many memories of when I was a kid!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!!!
If I ever hit the Lotto, I would go work in this parade for free. Or better yet donate my paycheck to admit kids into the park who were less fortunate. This parade rocks!
You have heart and good will towards man kind, that is to children.
When I was a boy living in Europe I dreamed of one day going to Disney. I had a book I would look at and imagine I was there. I now live in Canada and have been many times. Took my children when they were 7months and 2 years old. They can't wait to go back. The Electric Parade is one of the best parts about Disney. God bless Walt Disney for having the vision to create a wonderland that has touched so many!
Of all the attractions at the Disney parks, The Main Street Electrical Parade remains my favourite. Whenever I feel down, I log on ton youtube and watch the parade.
Im just like everyone here, I saw it when I was a kid and I have never forgotten how that parade made me feel like even now at 34 years old. It was such a joy to take my daughter to see this same parade that made me so happy back then and happy now when I think about it. Go Disney bring this back everynight!
OMG, it brings back so many great memories when I used to work at the park and being able to watch it every night. Now that I am married (to someone who used to work at D'land with me), and we now have a daughter, we can go back there and take her to see it!!
I saw the new version yesterday. I love the new updates and the new float was cute. And...spolier alert...they used the Dreamlights soundtrack, which the reason why they got rid of the Dumbo circus cause you couldn't incorperate the soundtrack to the dreamlights music.
that sounds like my dad when the original parade was there and my dad took me adn my sister to dland. lol. it is the best time to go on the rides is during the damn parades
when I got to disneyland/california adventure I stay till night there just to sea this and maybe right sorin or maulahale madness or AHHH FORGET IT I love it all there XD
in the newest version of the parade, the blue fairy is being replaced by tinker bell and the fairies, all of the floats are getting a "pixie dust trail" and the pinochio unit is being returned.
And look for me, I'll be the little boy riding the big green Dragon :P
I'm so sad :( She was my favorite and I thought it was by far the prettiest float. I heard rumors that the float might still be in the parade with the rest of the Pinnocchio unit. So hopefully, she's still there!
no i don't think so..here is what Disney released yesterday...... "Though the Blue Fairy float that used to open the parade has gone on hiatus, Guests with a keen eye will notice that the center mast of Captain Hooks pirate ship is now a foot-and-a-half taller."
HIATUS! That just means temporary! Hahaha there's STILL HOPE!
Wait, are they being sarcastic about the Captain Hooks ship? Haha I'm one of the biggest Electrical Parade nuts ever, and even I wouldn't notice that.
I remeber going to disneyworld and seeing this. That was the year they traded off its neat going to disney every year but still seenig something I will possably see once in my whole life. I like spectro magic better but this also made an impreshion on me.
Thank you so much! I have never seen the Electrical Parade and it is great to see it in itsentirety, wow it was ahead of its time, it not that different to Spectromagic and that started in 91. A real treat. Thanks again!
One of my favorite parts of this parade was when Pete's Dragon (whatever its name is) would turn "invisible" and Elliot would have the crowd say "RazzleDazzle" to get him to reappear...Did he do it this time, or did he stay lit up? Did you just not catch it on camera?
hopefully the kids today know who some of the characters are. we all know cinderella, dumbo, and alice from alice in wonderland, but do they know about king richard from robin hood and pete and eliot from Pete's Dragon. it would be a shame if kids today are deprived from these disney classics
i know it's so sad that some of the people i hang out with are like Walt Disney who? i'm just glad my mom introduced me to disney classics when i was little, and i will with my children in the future :)
Correct! Funny, but true. I worked in "this" parade back in the 80's at WDW. So much fun! Actually back then it also had "Small World" and Pinnochio units which you can see in a few posts on YT of the "old days." ;) Still one of Disney's best!
This parade is wonderful and bring back lots of memories! However, after having seen the amazing Electrical Parade Dreamlights in Tokyo, the MSEP really looks old and outdated to me now... I think it's time for this parade to step aside to a brand new one (no Spectromagic please...)
I was watching this one time in DCA and the4 peter pan clocktower broke down and whole parade stopped for a half hour! When the finally moved it out of the way there was a huge roar of the audience! It was very fun!
I haven't seen the parade since Sylvania began sponsoring it in 2006, thus changing the words on the Casey Jr train drum from "A CALIFORNIA CLASSIC". That stinks, but the parade is still #1.
This was a truly magical parade. I enjoyed seeing it many times at Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Florida. Although I also have enjoyed its newer replacement "SpectroMagic," the tune of this original is just joyful and infectious. You just have to smile. Thanks for the post, it brings back a lot of happy memories.
Dude, just imagine if you had shrooms before this. It'd be REALLY horrible! Hahah. But ya, can't wait to see this when I go next year. It'll be amazing!
well if tokyo disneyland get new electrical parade that mens in disneyland might get new one here why disney sea and disney california andventure are born same years in 2001 but differnet month we have wait from tokyo disney resort
wanna know what i dont like about this version and even though its just a little thing. i dont like the intro when it really introduces it and says the parade. the main street electrical parade just seemed to flow better. but other then that little thing its awsome!
I was sorry to see this parade leave Walt Disney World. I do enjoy spectromagic but, I think this parade & the sound track is just better. We knew this as "The main street electrical parade." I hope it comes back some day. Thank you for posting this. I thoroughly enjoyed watching. Jim
I love the opening, "In 1972, the creative spirit of California combined with the magic of Disney to bring to life a parade unlike any other. Since then, it has spanned three decades and three continents. We invite you now to enjoy the return of this glittering classic that has brightened the hearts of millions."
The voice actress is Kat Cressida. She has an AMAZING vioce! She also did the voice of Alice on the Alice in Wonderland ride at Disneyland Park
I heard that rumor too, and if its true I'd probably be at the park everyday to see it haha. But, I also heard a rumor that they were replacing the Blue Fairy with a Tinkerbell float, which is completely not ok.
They're placing all this hype on tinkerbell because kids these days don't watch pinnochio. That, and well, They've pretty much burnt out the whole disney princesses thing...
I didn't watch Pinnochio as a child and I still loved her. I think thats what was so special about that float, you didn't have to have loved Pinnochio to love the Blue Fairy float.
Lucky. I just came back from disneyland and I saw the fireworks show at the disneyland park. The fireworks were cool, but next time I think i'll go see this one.
One of my favorite parade theme music backgrounds. Brings back a great memory of myself at the Disney World electircal light parade. Is it still in Florida?
Florida Disney World has something now called Spectromagic. It's completely different. It has, for example, scenes from Fantasia, among other things. It uses a lot of fiber-optic lights and a completely different soundtrack. Tokyo Disneyland's is also completely different, and uses a "remixed" version of the original theme music. Search "Dreamlights" if you want to have a look.
I remember when I saw this at Walt Disney World back in 1999 or so. I left whistling the Baroque Hoedown. It has a way of never leaving your head! It is very very catchy!
Thank you ru42, this brought a tear to my eye, seriously. I haven't been here since '98. I heard that Disneyland made several changes. I don't mind as long as they keep the classics.
But even watching fireworks on here will make me tear up!!! It just makes me SSSOOO emotional! Haha even when I got on Soaring over California and they show the fireworks I tear up!
Disney is the BEST thing ever, the magic will always be there no matter what!!!
Haha your not alone!!! Lol I think what gets me the most is the holiday fireworks... I mean with the 'snow' and all!! Haha I'm getting emotional just thinking about it!!!
But the electrical parade is NOT excluded!! So many memories so much tears!! hehe
I come here atleast twice a day to listen and watch this video. I've seen this in person back in '96 with my entire family while on vacation in Disney World. I'm so sad that it's not there anymore but hey we've now got Spectromagic and Wishes and I love them too, but this parade holds a specail place in my heart. I'll be in WDW in about 24 days for two weeks with my husband, and two little girls and best friend. It's such a magical place, that's why we go every year. This will be my 25th visit.
Glad to see this Parade back in california, brings back lot of memories....from sounds of the Intro comentary, sounds like this video was filmed the night it returned to Disneyland to the new park Disney's Califorina Adventure.
I love this parade soo much!! I can't believe they took it away!! this was the best parade ever!!! why can't they bring it back?? they really need to bring it back so people who haven't seen it, can have a chance to watch such a magical and wondeful parade!<333

HIATUS! That just means temporary! Hahaha there's STILL HOPE!
Wait, are they being sarcastic about the Captain Hooks ship? Haha I'm one of the biggest Electrical Parade nuts ever, and even I wouldn't notice that.
thegreengirl1 2 years ago
Ru, this is by far the best video of the Electrical Parade out there. Thanks!

,Las cabalgatas espectaculares e impresionantes.Pero Disney tiene musica mucho mas bonita para este espectaculo, la musica es un poco impertinente.

I remeber going to disneyworld and seeing this. That was the year they traded off its neat going to disney every year but still seenig something I will possably see once in my whole life. I like spectro magic better but this also made an impreshion on me.
mike122448 2 years ago
Thank you so much! I have never seen the Electrical Parade and it is great to see it in itsentirety, wow it was ahead of its time, it not that different to Spectromagic and that started in 91. A real treat. Thanks again!

One of my favorite parts of this parade was when Pete's Dragon (whatever its name is) would turn "invisible" and Elliot would have the crowd say "RazzleDazzle" to get him to reappear...Did he do it this time, or did he stay lit up? Did you just not catch it on camera?
kittykitty0204 2 years ago
i think this is based on irish jig music.
polkapete 2 years ago
yeah, combined with stereotype English music.
kittykitty0204 2 years ago
hopefully the kids today know who some of the characters are. we all know cinderella, dumbo, and alice from alice in wonderland, but do they know about king richard from robin hood and pete and eliot from Pete's Dragon. it would be a shame if kids today are deprived from these disney classics
potatonut 2 years ago
i know it's so sad that some of the people i hang out with are like Walt Disney who? i'm just glad my mom introduced me to disney classics when i was little, and i will with my children in the future :)

Geeker1982 2 years ago
Correct! Funny, but true. I worked in "this" parade back in the 80's at WDW. So much fun! Actually back then it also had "Small World" and Pinnochio units which you can see in a few posts on YT of the "old days." ;) Still one of Disney's best!

does it still go?

It'll be interesting to hear how they work the Dreamlights version of the soundtrack into this this coming June

This parade is wonderful and bring back lots of memories! However, after having seen the amazing Electrical Parade Dreamlights in Tokyo, the MSEP really looks old and outdated to me now... I think it's time for this parade to step aside to a brand new one (no Spectromagic please...)
bplombin 3 years ago
I was watching this one time in DCA and the4 peter pan clocktower broke down and whole parade stopped for a half hour! When the finally moved it out of the way there was a huge roar of the audience! It was very fun!
crazycaterpilla 3 years ago
I haven't seen the parade since Sylvania began sponsoring it in 2006, thus changing the words on the Casey Jr train drum from "A CALIFORNIA CLASSIC". That stinks, but the parade is still #1.
the69chevykid 3 years ago
This was a truly magical parade. I enjoyed seeing it many times at Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Florida. Although I also have enjoyed its newer replacement "SpectroMagic," the tune of this original is just joyful and infectious. You just have to smile. Thanks for the post, it brings back a lot of happy memories.

Dude, just imagine if you had shrooms before this. It'd be REALLY horrible! Hahah. But ya, can't wait to see this when I go next year. It'll be amazing!

wanna know what i dont like about this version and even though its just a little thing. i dont like the intro when it really introduces it and says the parade. the main street electrical parade just seemed to flow better. but other then that little thing its awsome!
zerodatguy 3 years ago
I was sorry to see this parade leave Walt Disney World. I do enjoy spectromagic but, I think this parade & the sound track is just better. We knew this as "The main street electrical parade." I hope it comes back some day. Thank you for posting this. I thoroughly enjoyed watching. Jim

Sadly, I went this past year and they didn't have the history opening. They just started with, "Ladies and gentlemen......"
OneWorldTour 3 years ago
I love the opening, "In 1972, the creative spirit of California combined with the magic of Disney to bring to life a parade unlike any other. Since then, it has spanned three decades and three continents. We invite you now to enjoy the return of this glittering classic that has brightened the hearts of millions."
The voice actress is Kat Cressida. She has an AMAZING vioce! She also did the voice of Alice on the Alice in Wonderland ride at Disneyland Park

I heard that it's coming back to Disneyland Park for the 55th anniversary in 2010. That's just a rumor, though.
kile1994 3 years ago 3
Oh my gosh I would DIE if that is true. I miss this so much.
thegreengirl1 3 years ago
I heard that rumor too, and if its true I'd probably be at the park everyday to see it haha. But, I also heard a rumor that they were replacing the Blue Fairy with a Tinkerbell float, which is completely not ok.
thegreengirl1 3 years ago
They're placing all this hype on tinkerbell because kids these days don't watch pinnochio. That, and well, They've pretty much burnt out the whole disney princesses thing...
chinchow76 3 years ago
I didn't watch Pinnochio as a child and I still loved her. I think thats what was so special about that float, you didn't have to have loved Pinnochio to love the Blue Fairy float.

One of my favorite parade theme music backgrounds. Brings back a great memory of myself at the Disney World electircal light parade. Is it still in Florida?
boymettsgirl2007 3 years ago
Florida Disney World has something now called Spectromagic. It's completely different. It has, for example, scenes from Fantasia, among other things. It uses a lot of fiber-optic lights and a completely different soundtrack. Tokyo Disneyland's is also completely different, and uses a "remixed" version of the original theme music. Search "Dreamlights" if you want to have a look.
kansaikitsune 3 years ago
Wow. I guess I'll have to beg for California Adventure tickets.

I remember when I saw this at Walt Disney World back in 1999 or so. I left whistling the Baroque Hoedown. It has a way of never leaving your head! It is very very catchy!
jasobres 3 years ago
Thank you ru42, this brought a tear to my eye, seriously. I haven't been here since '98. I heard that Disneyland made several changes. I don't mind as long as they keep the classics.
