No, he talks about how the movie was met with reservation when it debuted because it pushes a very anti-consumerism message and that's not something the networks liked.

I'm trying to understand what your problem is with that. That's the whole point of 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' - all the kids are wrapped up in wanting to get presents and it depresses Charlie Brown because he has this notion that Christmas is not supposed to be solely about that. Isn't that something most people agree on regardless of the political positions lol?

I never saw this movie, and don't plan on it. Hence my more dubious approach to Kim's review.

poipoi, why are you wasting YOUR time? What I did was in the past, and it's over now. I did it out of boredom, and due to the fact that Kim can be rather lame and annoying with his movie reviews.

That is not "false stuff". Look at his review of "Brothers", which was the last straw for me. "Waaah, waaah, it didn't talk ENOUGH about how bad war is!" I'm a liberal who hates war and STILL that annoyed me.

It's origins are Pagan. The Roman Catholics took over the celebration centuries ago, and decided to mark the celebration as the birth of Jesus Christ... since the original reason for the celebration was the ending of winter.

There is nothing about Christmas or it's practices in the Bible. Especially that we should celebrate it this way... considering that the story has his birth around the harvest, which isn't the winter.

Sorry due... it's a pagan celebration you've been involved in.

I never noticed until this year, my kids have been watching it while I frantically bake cookies for my ungrateful in-laws, and label presents and general running around like a headless chicken... It has been in the soundtrack of my afternoons for 3 days (multiple episodes in loop, really my nanny for these past 72 hours, LOL). I have a greater appreciation then when I was a kid watching it escaping my parents going crazy with all the preparations:) Emos keep it real.

I remember how we celebrated St. Nicolas day at the 6th of December, where Santa is living in the forest, brings nuts, fruits and chocolate. On Christmas the Christkind comes to bring the presents.

However my mom spoiled the fun by telling me from the beginning that it's all not real. St. Nicolas is just a guy who wears a costume and the presents are from grandma and not from the Christkind.
