  • I am also a Boy Soprano, I never knew one can become that famous by being a Boy Soprano

  • I can make a DVD copy of this clip and 'The Treble' for anyone interested. Just e-mail me.

    glasby.robert@gmail.com

  • Wow, thanks for sharing this!

  • It's also a lot to do with training methods which have changed over the years. Very few people know how to train boys voices now.

  • Its actually quite rare to have a treble that lives up to 16 years old anyway...

    what a gift

  • @platmosic true..( although I misunderstood your comment at first hahaha....i thought they die early XD )

  • "I usually do it in the back of trains and cars and things....the homework I mean."

    Lol.

  • It was pure chance I managed to record this years ago. i just happened to have VCR going early in the morning and captured it by chance.

  • This Aled Jones is not gay at all. He is married, and he and his wife have two children. However, Aled Haydn Jones, who is six years younger than this guy and is a BBC radio personality, is openly gay. They are two different people.

Why do we even care who is gay or not? Live and let live. There is enough homophobia in this world.

  • He was a charming boy and he is a charming man. And he did become a television presenter as he hoped. Meanwhile, yes, he's a married man, a father, etc., but people always (in the case of a man) resort to the same old homophobic invective when they want to be foul and abusive. All over Youtube it's the same. I even saw a channel about a golfer, good grief, and there too his detractors use the same crazy homophobic insults. It has nothing at all to do with homosexuality. And it's sick.

  • He's still a great singer!

  • Hi.

To all of those people that think it's really easy to sing like Aled Jones used to, IT'S NOT.

Maybe you can hit one or two high notes, but this kid had something called a NATURAL TALENT.

It's pretty impossible to have a clear and pure voice like that.

If you think you have a voice as just and beautiful as him, well I think you could share it with the rest of the world, and if you don't, well shut the hell up and you're juste jealous.

  • Please do not post rude and offensive remarks here.

  • I could only wish I can sing this good....

    *sigh*

I wanted to be male soprano too....

    ^^

but alas, my time has come and gone...

  • I was impressed with this young man. The world could use a few more just like him.

  • soo much more eloquent, polite, and humble than today's teenage stars (at least american).

  • Aled was a great singer then and he is now, as well as coming over as a very nice person. I don't think Aled will ever be out of work either a a singer or presenter.

  • He is so wonderful) he is shining)

  • It's not unusual, Rick, for a boy to keep his singing voice that long if he's well trained. It's remarkable just how many rude comments this video has received. obviously jealousy.

  • Just because he's different, doesn't make him gay.

  • He was 16 and his voice still was not broke!.. lol

  • Well he has become a presenter! What a champion Aled was and is. If only our "rock stars" were half as decent as this man....................................and talented, dare I say!

  • Please,

I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and I never saw nothing such nice like this boy singing with a contratenor voice.

    How old is he now?

I will apreciate all informations about him.

People speak about gay or not gay, who care about this?

Only stupid persons that are more preocuped with small things can miss the beautiful and angelical sound coming from inside this boy.

    Congratulations Aled.

  • @tenorjacques Aled had his 40th birthday at the end of December.

There are many Aled videos on YouTube, both as a treble and as a baritone (and, very unusually, singing treble/baritone duets) As for the nonsense about gay / not gay, he is married with two children

  • @tenorjacques Thank you for answer me about Aled. He is one person blessed by God, that is the reason because he sings like a bird. All the best to you and Aled, and to the persons who likes music as well.

  • Glad he came back to sing again and did more recordings, a great talent!

  • Seems like a nice boy that grew into a nice man.

  • I can't uderstand why anybody would want to be rude about one of our very finest performers both then and now and a very nice man as well. Probably jealousy.

  • LOL at 80s paxman..

  • Bob has just removed 23 rude and offensive comments about this video. If these users are not prepared to be polite they will be blocked from posting on this page.

  • what a fine young man. Kids these days are not like this.

  • Better to quit on a high note rather than a low note.. lol..

  • He seems very humble and awesome.

But LOL at "completely unspoiled" (coming from an American)

  • He does it in the back of cars and trains - the homework I mean! Classic!

  • @munchobuncho435 ummm with practice anyone can sing high???? I cant believe people dont know this.

  • he seems like such a nice kid with really good manners

  • Detailed comments can be sent to glasby.robert@gmail.com

Also for news of my new releases

  • Hi; I'd be glad to respond to your comment but can't see the one you refer to. can you resend it please.

    Bob

  • BobGlasby, Im looking forward to your reply to my last comment. Dont keep me waiting.

  • Gosh, what a bright, intelligent young gentleman. It's a pleasure to listen to this talented person singing and talking. He got a generous share of gift and talent. The rest of us will have to struggle and admire.

  • very nice voice unbelieveble

  • wait a minute, this cannot be 16 accept 65 to retire

  • What do you mean by 'normal'? What IS the norm nowadays pray tell me?!

  • What a charming, unspoilt lad! And seemingly very intelligent and mature for his age. His voice is incredible.

  • @periperigord

You're very accurate on all counts, Periperigord. Aled was all of those wonderful descriptions you've noted, back when he was a boy, and now at 39, hasn't changed in his outstanding qualities. He's a very astute businessman who manages his own career, and remains as natural, unspoilt and charming as he was all those years ago.

Oh yes, add in his delicious sense of humour and his genuine kind and caring nature, and you have an authentic picture of Aled Jones.

  • Susiemv, thanks a lot for your comments and Aled update. He sounds a wonderful person indeed and an example to us all!

  • polite i supose x

  • See Wikipedia:

In 1988, O-Level qualifications in the UK were replaced by a new system, the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE). This meant that the final O-Level examinations were taken in 1987

  • They didn't have O levels in 1987

  • Apparently they did...

  • @gobbygirl77 Yes they did - I took them!

  • Oh yes! He is a beatiful, white boy, whit a wonderfull voice and a gorgeous blond hair. I bet you he was a fine student.

All boys hsould be like him.

  • Yes they/we did. O levels stopped AFTER 1987

  • You still can see Aled perform - as an adult of course! - He is meant to be doing a tour next Spring

  • gosh so polite and mature.

  • Wait. Hailed for 50 years? He was 16 o.O

  • It means that there hadn't been a better treble than him for fifty years.

  • Good one, I laughed myself silly.

  • well in that case texas must be seriously lacking in people who have genuine talent and need not conform to social expectations

  • his manners are so cute...so unaffected by his fame

  • So, how did he do on those O-levels? LOL

  • He passed with 6 B's and 4 C's if I am not mistaken :)

  • no As? How hard are the O levels?

  • O Levels were much much much harder than the 'GCSE' exams that are sat in this day and age.

And no, Aled did not pass with any A's at all.

  • O Levels were much much harder apparently. My Mother took O Levels and she told me that they were no walk in the park.

  • Where did you get that info?

  • Are you refering to me revealing the grades that Aled past with?

    Emma =]

  • Yes.

  • Aleds Autobiography =]

  • I remember watch Aled sveral years ago when he was doing what you see in this video, and it was shown on A&E here in the USA, and i made copies and distributed them free so folks could enjoy his talent. Wonderful that he held to his talent and stayed with this " in the service of the Lord" and has a daughter, hopefully she will become a Sarh Brightman herself come day. (from New Jersey, a long tiime fan_

  • amazing voice... what is he singing in this video? it's beautiful I'd like to hear the rest....!

  • In this economy mess, I down-sized and gave them away what was left. There was a lot of

interaction with his mom, in his Welsh tongue plus the records that got him awards. Specific selections have faded in my mind now @ 70. Buts his voice was dominant. No junk and I as so glad ClassicFm gave him a slot in his adult broadcasting, un-like Charlotte Church's debacle in life.

  • ooh, you had videos of him speaking to his mum in welsh? how cute! do you know if they are on youtube?

  • search "Aled Jones" and "The Treble" (a documentary which was made about him) It is in 6 parts, I think and he and his mum speak in Welsh in that

  • He is singing "Hear my Prayer" by Mendelssohn - he recorded it in the 80s - the CD was reissued in 2008.

  • I have watched him in some videos with Libera. I can see in him, at the age of 16, the dignity and presence that he has as an adult. He has such modesty, and so much talent.

  • Amazing voice

  • He is married and has a little girl.

  • and a little boy, too

  • and an inbetweener

  • he is one

  • hahahaha :o)

  • If he's gay, how come he's got a wife and two children?

  • @sonho1234 ...they must be gay too then...thats how gays are born......

  • @sonho1234 Loads of people do that, but that's not the point, the video is about music, nothing else.

  • Funny, what they said about Aled wanting Terry Wogan's job and now he is singing The Little Drummer Boy with him, for Children in Need...Let's get them to Christmas No1.

He was so sweet in that interview.

  • Lol i like to do it in the back of trains and cars.......the homework i mean so funny

  • That's Jeremy Paxman!

  • i bought this guys cassette back then and still play it regually in the car, no cd in our classic.

  • Excellent ! Thanks heaps for this !

  • I'm now going to upload highlights from 'The Treble' - the 1985 TV programme about Aled.

  • I'll look out some more videos of Aled when I get back home in October. Heep watching the space!

    Bob

  • And now Sally Magnusson and Aled Jones both present the same programme, Songs of Praise!

  • Thanks for posting this! I have great admiration and respect for Aled and his voice and also the person that he is. :)

  • Thanks so much for posting this. He was an amazing singer and still is today with his fabulous adult voice. This clip is one reason why I love YouTube. I would never be able to see this clip otherwise and never heard this interview.

  • Aled is a Legend, he is a great example & a role model to many boys in England. I c him as a successful person with a happy family right now:).

His my favorite British singer & presenter.

    Go Go Aled Jones:).

Greetings from hot summer Sunshine State, Orlando, Florida U.S.A.

    CHINO

  • Thanks for your comments. I'll see what else I can find!

  • pls give me a reason why u hate Aled Jones:).

    CHINO

  • What on earth has Aled done to you that you "hate" him - "hate" is a very strong word. And why look at videos about him if you "hate" him?

  • Come on, he's not that bad. lokitrix, why do you hate him? Not saying you have to like him, 'cause everyone's entitled to their own opinion..... without others scolding them about it.

  • He's not English though - he's WELSH lol!

  • and what has that to do with anything? He was, and is, a superb singer, and yes, a very proud Welshman. So what?

  • My post was a response was a reoly to a post which said Aled was a good example of a successful Englishman, so I was just pointing out he was Welsh not English. However this post I responded to seems to have disappeared - very strange.

  • Ah! Ok - sorry. I could indeed see nothing about Aled being English, either. And people seem to want to come on Youtube and make such

silly and sarcastic (and ultimately pointless!) remarks and I thought this was another one!!

  • lol. Bangor is a small city in Gwynedd, WALES. It was in the cathedral at Bangor that Aled started as a chrositer

It is not the same as the Bangor in Co. Down in N. Ireland.

    Google it.

  • my bad

  • :-)

It's an easy mistake to make. It's so rare to have two different towns sharing a very unusual name!

  • That's funny. Bangor, County Down is my vey loyalist birth town in Northern Ireland "God save the Queen'" Aled, as you say is from the Principality!

  • WHAT?

  • Oh come on, you all know he's from Bangor, Maine :)

  • He's from Bangor in Wales!

  • The same way my dad's friend is from Canada, but his parents are Ukrainians. Aled is from Bangor, which I don't know if you got the geography right (I'm not British), so I'll take your word for it. But his roots are Welsh, he speaks Welsh to his parents...... I think.

  • He is Welsh, he was born and bred in Bangor, Wales.

  • A young Jeremy Paxman too!

  • And Jeremy being postive!!!
