I grew upo with her she lived four house down, Her Brother Gary and I hung out. She was different even as little kid, I remember her when she got her flat top and combat boots back in the 70 and would shock the neighbors even then. When we played with our GI Joes, she didn't want to play with Barbie!;)
In the Sixties someone minted the term "Protest Singer" and, she may be the one still living that the best. She's bloody funny too and gentle when the subject nneeds that treatment... Loves her!... :)
when i saw her opening up for lone justuce in 85, maybe 86 or so, she introduced herself as "just your typical, all american, jewish, lesbian, folk singer".
Not all do, mrpernell27. But Drag Kings DO get lotsa play these days, and they keep it clean, if u know what I mean. U see, dicks are just dirty. Sorry, but that's a cold hard fact (excuse the pun). Dicks are like VD-dipsticks - they get exposed to alot of nasty crap easily. Just ask yer healthcare provider. Whereas strap-ons can be easily sanitized for a girl's protection - or so I've heard. Anyway, WHO WOULDN'T WANT to date Phranc - SHE'S A HELLA-CUTIE! She looks alot like my ex-boyfriend.
THANKS for this Blast-from-the-Past posting. Actually, this track first appeared on her 2nd album (1987's I Enjoy Being A Girl) and not on Folksinger. Boy, I miss Phranc so much. Good 2 hear that at least she's still gigging around LA. Love ALL her music (early punk stuff, too), but Tupperware just doesn't thrill me. MY FAV PHRANC SONG: 'I Like Charlotte', her lovesong to Go-Go Char Caffey, circa 1980. also: OUIJA, RODEO PARAKEET!
Not all lesbians do. Maybe you only notice the lesbians who don't look ultra feminine - there are lots who are - but really, who cares? Why do some straight men date blonde bimbos with fake boobs who look like monsters? Everyone has their preference - perhaps time should be better spent just respecting everyone's choices and not trying to fit them into some narrow little gender box.
"One of the Girls" on the album "Folksinger." I doubt any video of it is on here, as hardly any old Phranc songs are. She does have her own page here, though.
I WISH I had more footage of Phranc. I have a music video for "Bloodbath," but I don't think YouTube would let me post it.
I used to drive a shuttle bus from the Anaheim Hilton to Disneyland, and we played Disney music for the passengers. I snuck in Phranc's song "Toy Time."
You know Phranc has her own channel, right? Check it out. Also, in my video page, Phranc has a brief appearance in the "What's Up America" report.
Unfortunately that's all I have from Phranc. I wish I had more - she's great. I first saw her as the opening act for The Smiths in the mid-80s and was blown away.
The only other Phranc video I have is "Bloodbath" - and its already available here on YouTube (uploaded by someone else - just do a search for "phranc")...
You know, this reminded me that Phranc kissed me once at the Hong Kong Cafe. I think she was trying to lure me to her Prisoner: Cell Block H/ Frankie Doyle watching party.

why do lesbians date women that look, act, sound, and dress like men? can someone explain that to me?

I saw Phranc open for THE SMITHS in the mid 80's....what a show!
There were a handful of hardcore lesbians shouting sweet nothings at Phranc the whole show! I laughed so much, it was great!

Yeah - that's the first time I saw Phranc - opening up for the Smiths at the Universal Ampitheater near Hollywood...
One of those rare moments where the opening act blows you away! I love Phranc!

Phranc is a Prisoner fan? That's cool! That only makes me like her more.
I cried when Frankie Doyle got shot by the police.
