  • I visited the catacombs (in Italy in 2010)....hauntingly beautiful....whether you visit for historical or religious purpose it's a must see in Rome

  • 2:21 it should be a crime someone that attractive is a priest

  • @zOMGLaserGunzPewPew Why? He has a wife.

  • @nikoz78 I didn't know orthodox were allowed to have wives.. I guess that make sense because it doesn't say in the bible for priests to not marry like in the catholic church.

  • i don't know why but i allways start crying when i enter in a orthodox church

  • @PunisherFromTheHell Why because you like the faith or hate it?

  • @BayAreaOrBust i don't hate it, si simply start to cry, like cuting onion.

  • @PunisherFromTheHell I mean what in particular makes you cry?

  • @BayAreaOrBust the light, the beautiful smell, the songs, everything.

  • @PunisherFromTheHell it makes me cry too. You know i also cry over the fact that the Ottomans and Soviets destroyed the hcurch

  • @BayAreaOrBust Destroyed the Church? The Soviets tried to destroy the Church for 80 years, and committed genocide against 20 million Orthodox Christians. The Ottomans had 400 years to do so. And yet, here we are, still standing today. That, my friend, is a genuine miracle.

  • @nikoz78 But you have to think it over, Orthodox Christianity could've been larger and more widespread (like the Catholic and Protestant Church) if it wasn't for the early Catholics, Ottomans, Arabs, and the Soviets!

  • Alright I'm just Christian I go by the bible but I'm curious on where to get a Hebrew/ Greek bible and the languages on the people of that time I think going based on the original bible would put a end to false denominationalism

  • @DreamingOutLoud33 Orthodox are pre-denominational. Their Church is the original church, proven by historical record, and recognized by historians world wide. The Orthodox Church is the very church who put the Bible together. It's their book. To this day they read Koine Greek. The Orthodox priest today has an UNBROKEN line of succession all the way back to Jesus Himself (another fact recognized by historians worldwide). The Bible is written in Greek. The oldest Old Testament known is in Greek.

  • @nikoz78 Your statement on the oldest OT is not entirely true. The oldest OT writings are those of the Dead Sea Scrolls which have been found to be written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.

  • @vlambert100 Actually, it is entirely true.

  • @nikoz78 Then if documented proof is so important to your Church. Then tell me why achaelogists have shown otherwise that the Dead Sea Scrolls were written in these three languages. If you do a Google search on it there is a wealth of sources that clearly state that these Scrolls were written in these three languages, and are the oldest biblical manuscripts that scholars have dated. I have even seen pictures of them from the Qumran area that are clearly written in Hebrew.

  • @vlambert100 Although further studies are continuing on the Dead Sea Scroll, right now they are accepted as the oldest manuscripts.

  • @vlambert100 The Dead Sea Scrolls are just a tiny fragment. I never said the Old Testament was not written in Hebrew; just that the Septuagint is the oldest know COPY of the OT. The DSS shows the Septuagintal translations are quite reliable and, gives new authority to the Greek translations against the Masoretic text. Scholarship based upon the new information provided in the Dead Sea Scroll thus supports the millennial old tradition on use of the Septuagint by the Orthodox Church.

  • @nikoz78 Oh yeah, they're just a tiny fragment. And yet there have been 382 different manuscripts found, and scholars think there are even more than that. And you're right about the the Septuagint being upheld by the DSS because scholars have determined the reliabilaty of the MT with the DSS too. The fact that the MT lines up with the DSS is a better miracle of God preserving his Word.

  • @nikoz78 And you clearly affirmed in your previous statement that everything you said was true. Even the OT being written in Greek.

  • @vlambert100 Only an idiot would believe that the Old Testament was written originally in Greek. I never implied that. I said the oldest KNOWN COPY was written in Greek. The Hebrew alphabet itself derived from Greek anyway, as proven by Jewish scholars like Professors Joseph Yahuda and Saul Levin, who demonstrated with scientific accuracy that both Hebrew AND Arabic are Greek in origin. But, yes, obviously, the OT was written in Hebrew, not Greek.

  • @nikoz78 I've read reviews on this Joseph Yahuda and they are not favorable. Also, one person commented that his claims are no different of the LDS saying Native American languages are related to Near Eastern languages. In addition, reviews of this his book also claim he is showing a bias for the Greek language. The author finds assonances between Greek and Hebrew, but then has to come up with the

most contrived explanations for how the two words, unrelated in meaning, are actually related.

  • @vlambert100 That's funny, because Oxford University sure took him seriously, they even published his research. He clearly demonstrated the relation between Greek and Hebrew. Spent his entire life devoted to proving it. There was a huge Israeli black-out of his research and data, for unknown reasons. In fact, the story of how this research caused a scandal is fascinating by itself. Politics, I suppose.

  • @nikoz78 You know it's like when the professor Morton Smith of Columbia Universtiy published that he found an authentic manuscript called The Secret Gospel of Mark. The reason why he made this claim was because he wanted tenure and he was a homosexual. However, the scholar Stephen Carlson showed it was a fabrication and published it in The Gospel Hoax: Morton Smith's Invention of Secret Mark. You also have to remember not all university professors agree with each other.

  • @nikoz78 In addition no historian takes The Secret Gospel of Mark seriously anyone, although you still have fools trying to say these fabricated Gnostic Gosples come from the ancient past.

  • @vlambert100 'Hebrew is Greek," Joseph Yahuda, 686 pg, 1982, Oxford. Synopsis: Having great knowledge of Hebrew, Arabic, Old Testament and the Koran by heart, Jahuda studied the translation of the Septuagint and Homer. He made a detailed comparison of these languages over the course of 30 years. He then published this book in 1982. The work of Yahuda has been analyzed by Davlos. He convincingly demonstrates that 90% of all Hebrew and Arabic words and various symbols are Greek.

  • @nikoz78 And that Simcha Jacobovici makes the exact kind of claims to. And his documentary Exodus Decoded was shown on the History Channel.

  • @nikoz78 Also ancient history doesn't favor a Greek origin as Herodotus claimed the Phonecian Cadmus introduced the Phonecian alphabet which gave rise to the Greek alphabet. Just because someone claims they use science does not mean it's true. For example Simcha Jacobovici in Exodus Decoded tries to give Israelite origins to the island Santorini. However, most historians and biblical scholars find major errors with his assumptions and do not take him seriously.

  • @DreamingOutLoud33 a brilliant Idea! message me and I'll suggest a good site to get a good multi lingual bible. I'm orthodox, but I think its splendid to look for yourself. My support is yours.

  • I am Romanian Orthodox and proud of it! :) thumbs up to this video!

  • i am a greek cypriot, and i am proud of my religion..

  • Hey! Father Michael is in this video! 2:06

  • @ibsd Considering that the Orthodox Church WROTE the Bible (yes, the Book Itself is an Othodox/Byzantine Church text), I'd logically assume that they know full well what they are talking about. It's like telling the Orthodox Buddhists that they have it all wrong, and your New Age Buddhism is actually correct. Absurd.

  • @nikoz78 Various early Christians wrote the bible. The current Orthodox Church and practices is a political structure that came much later. The "Orthodox" church didn't write the bible but did decide which books were authentic in their opinion out of all the various Christian texts floating around at the time, but the core was pretty much universally accepted.early on.The Orthodox church teachings either contradict those texts or just isn't in there. First step though, respond to my original

  • @nikoz78 Thats funny the jews wrote the old testement Christianity didn't even exist at the time. Back then Christianity was the same thing until 1054 when the East and West broke from each other having the title of Catholic West and Orthodox East I think. It was the early christians that wrote the new testement and not all of them were in the eastern part. The Byzantines didn't exist in that time LOL

  • @TheProjectblah The oldest known copy of the Old Testament is written in Greek (the Septuagint). The Greek-speaking peoples of the Roman Empire in Greece/Asia Minor were the same as when the Roman Empire became Christian (Byzantine). The "Byzantine Empire" is just the name of the Christian Roman Empire, the unbroken line of Emperors remained. Wrong. The New Testament was put together via the Nicene Councils, in the Greek East, in Greek Asia Minor. Byzantines were Greek. They didn't exist? LOL?

  • Excellent, this is answering much of my questions! I was raised as Catholic and still am, but I'm keeping an open mind! Awesome!

  • i just dont believe that jesus was god......i relate more to islam in the sense that they have "prophets" that were sent down to spread the message of god...............idk.......what do you guys think i should do.....i was the real orthodoxes to write and explain why its best to be an orthodox...id like to be unbiased as possible

  • @MRob I do realize you asked for an Orthodox point of view but not sure you can get anything more unbiased than a Protestant’s. I am not willing to say Orthodoxy is ‘best’ as I think whatever sect that teaches the fundamental Truth and leads you to our Lord Jesus Christ, who will teach and intercede on your behalf to the Almighty Father, is the ‘best’ one. Why Orthodox? Orthodoxy has done just that for over two thousand years. It is the original Church as founded by The Apostles...

  • Cont:and to this day its headship is Jesus Christ. To my understanding scripture studied (Bibles used) are versions based on the original Hebrew and Greek (Old Testament) and Greek for the New Testament as opposed to the Latin Vulgate. It is indeed straight forward and practical but focuses on God’s love for us and our relationship with Him. Another very important aspect is Orthodoxy rightly does not teach salvation by Grace or Works alone. Again it teaches the fundamental truth in a non...

  • Cont:non judgmental and practical way. Or so a fool like me has come to believe ;) I strongly encourage you to seek the answers as I notice you do not believe in the Divinity of Jesus and that is important for you to look into if I may add. May The Holy Spirit guide you on your journey. In my humble opinion you’re asking the question you have means He already has begun! ! May our Lord bless you and keep you! Ask and seek and the answers will be revealed.

  • @ ALL for MRob:**If I have misstated or given false counsel on Orthodoxy please someone who knows more than I correct me.

  • @alanscottbl Your answer sounds like a very Orthodox response!

  • @ukerkater You were kind enough to answer my question a while back: God bless! I pray at a small fundamental Church in the U.S. I give praise for the wisdom I have gained from Orthodoxy as well. Seems to my limited mind that the differences are primarily cultural and dogmatic. Even the theological seem insignificant compared to the agreements. I don't believe in the unnecessary wall sometimes dividing us. One God, one Love, one people? idk May our Lord have mercy and bless us all! Peace!

  • @alanscottbl In my understanding, you hit the core of what the Church teaches us, the new commandment that Christ gives to us to love one another. It is not for us to judge and despise one another. In my view though, I think that differences between Christian groups are more profound and not simply cultural differences Orthodoxy in fact encourages the expression of faith in all cultures--heterogeneity is not a threat .

  • @alanscottbl Cont...Differences in dogma also can have very profound implications. Being Orthodox, for me, means that I cannot turn away from the teachings of the Church because I see the beauty of Truth in them, but I also must try to avoid looking down on those who are searching for Truth in their own way. Peace to you.

  • @ukerkater Your words ring very true to me Sir. Perhaps worth mentioning that I was not referring to all Protestant denominations. I’m afraid many have wondered very far from fundamental Truth. I also foolishly used the word 'dogma' (oops lol) I meant 'doctrine' specifically those Church rules which are not always God's written word. That might be more of a Protestant thing though? ...

  • @ukerkater cont... None the less your points remain valid and I'll consider the ‘profoundness of differences’ more seriously in my own personal growth. Presently I guess I simply consider myself a Christian seeking Truth wherever He shall reveal. I am thirsty, and often weary I must confess ;) TY for your insight. Glory be to God!

  • @radclayson hey man if your an athiest do you...be happy

  • Hello, I am a protestant that has received much truth and wisdom from The Orthodox faith. Could anyone please help me with a question: Does Orthodox Christianity believe in Demonic possession?

  • @alanscottbl yes

  • @beastclaw33 Thank You! Forgive my delayed reply!

  • @alanscottbl its k;)

  • @alanscottbl Yes, we believe that it can occur if we leave ourselves open to it...of course, Christ frees people from possession ...Biblical examples in Matthew, Mark and Luke. It's not really something that we focus upon, rather we see Christ as healer of body and soul.

  • @ukerkater Please forgive my delayed (very delayed) reply of thanks. Without getting into the reasoning the question was extremely important. Still is to some extent. Anyway thank you for replying (beastclaw's too) and please forgive the rudness of my delayed appriciation. God bless!

  • witch came first.. Orthodox or Catholic??

  • @ResTrNbSC Orthodox, by FAR. In fact, Orthodoxy IS the original Church.

  • @nikoz78 really?? how do u know??

  • @ResTrNbSC It's a historical fact. Study Byzantine history.

  • @ResTrNbSC Study Apostolic Succession too. Like royalty, you can trace the ordination of the priest at the Orthodox Church today all the way back to Jesus Himself. This isn't based on faith, it is a very well documented historical fact. Study Byzantine history and you will find that the Orthodox Church itself put the Bible together. So the Bible itself is an Orthodox text. Literally. The key is to study Byzantine history, something deliberately ignored by the Catholic West and Protestants.

  • @FazopTheWizard but what about when Jesus told Peter "You are Peter the rock, and upon this rock you shall build my church"?

  • @nikoz78 The original church in jerusalem was Jewish Christian.

  • @nikoz78 proof please?

  • @ResTrNbSC

    To understand better:

Christians in the primitive church fighted for the ORTHODOXY of Faith, the correct teachings of christian faith among heresies...

In 1054, the Patriarchate of Rome, one in equals of FIVE, broked with this Orthodoxy of faith and become a religion know as Roman Catholicism, a broken and not apostolic brench of Orthodox Christianity!

    Christ is among us brother!

  • @ResTrNbSC orthodox cristian is catolic church.....catolics mean apostolic many roman catolics dont know what this greek word means ...and all orthodox churches are apostolic...and orthodox churches is unchanged since 2 000 years...roman catolics took diferent path in great schisma.....we stick to same fait and rules for 2000 years

  • @ResTrNbSC Don't listen to him. First everything was the same church, united. Then it was divided to Catholic and Orthodox. Then when the reformation came, catholic church was devided to Roman Catholic and Protestant church... then there are also many different subreligions to protestant. like calvinism etc..

  • @ResTrNbSC

From the begining all churches that signed under the 7 ecumenical councils were catholic orthodox (catholic is greek for "universal", orthodox is greek for "correct belief"). In short, only with the schism of 1054 and later on the siege of Constantinople during the 4th Crusade by the knights (though the Pope prohibited it) the relations between the Eastern and Western church were heavily deteriorised and we can start talking of Catholic and Orthodox denomination as we know it today.

  • @ResTrNbSC niko78 sounds totally brainwashed by Orthodoxy. Truth is Orthodox and Catholic started at the same time. Mostly when Christianity was made the official Religion of Rome by Constantine with the church in Rome having the most political clout. Until they split in 1054ad. The most powerful in Rome became the Catholic Church and the other churches became the Orthodox Church. Couldn't beat them by killing them so he took over the christian movement.

  • @ibsd actually ... Constantine established the Roman capital in a city called Byzantium in 330 AD, Constantine only got baptized before his death. The Edict of Milan was passed by Constantine and Licinius in 313 AD which only allowed religious tolerance throughout the empire. In 1054 when both sides claimed the both title orthodox and catholic. It was theodosius who made it the official religion of the state in 381AD. But Constantine was a patron of the church.

  • @TheProjectblah Even though it was no longer capital of the Roman Empire it still was considered

'first among equals. You are right that it Theodosius was who made it the "official" religion, but it was Constantine that ended persecution of Christians and hijacked the Christian movement making it "universal" and "of the right opinion". Thank you for your clarification.

  • @ibsd Constantinople was, in fact, the official capitol of the Roman Empire for 1,100+ years.

  • @ibsd Ironic, you are the one who is brainwashed (western bias). There were five Patriarchs, the Patriarch of Rome tried to take over; the other four rejected him. When the "pope" removed himself from the brotherhood, HE removed your church from the original, and became a heretic. The Patriarch of Rome had a place of honor, not universal jurisdiction. If the thumb removes itself from the hand, it in not in itself the hand! The Patriarch of Constantinople is now the "First among equals."

  • @ibsd Another historical FACT, is that the Patriarch of Constantinople is, literally, the last renaming OFFICIAL office of the legitimate Roman Empire. The Ottoman Turks allowed it to continue, and still it remains, unbroken! The Catholic claim to "Rome" is really just silly at best, and historical fraud at worst. "Catholic" is a Greek word meaning 'Universal.' You are not Roman and you are not the true catholic Church. With the internet, your lies are easily refuted now days. Truth!

  • makes me proud to be orthodox

  • I'd like to say clearly to all as the up-loader of this video: I'm am NOT a scholar, expert, historian or priest. I do NOT represent the Church in ANY official capacity. I would NOT choose myself to do such. I'm just a dude who is Orthodox and uploaded this video. I will help answer questions to the best of my ability. My son is to be baptized today, and I thought of these videos and how I may have turned away the curious by my amateur level of debating with non-Orthodox. Seek official sources.

  • @nikoz78 God bless you brother! you are an instrument. Don't be made to feel apologetic for supporting your faith. If people don't like it, they can watch something else. Also, congratulations on the baptism of your son! God bless you all!!

  • It's so sad how little people know about Orthodoxy. I'm not Orthodox, but am seriously considering looking into converting when I come of age.

  • i would like to become orthodox, but i do not have a car, and the nearest orthodox church(by car) is 30 min =/ ??

  • The body was under the direct control of the Spanish monarchy. It was not definitively abolished until 1834, during the reign of Isabella II, though it had ceased effective operation sometime earlier after a long decline.

  • Various motives have been proposed for the monarchs' decision to fund the Inquisition such as increasing political authority, weakening opposition, suppressing conversos, profiting from confiscation of the property of convicted heretics, reducing social tensions and protecting the kingdom from the danger of a fifth column.

  • The Inquisition was originally intended in large part to ensure the orthodoxy of those who converted from Judaism and Islam. This regulation of the faith of the newly converted was intensified after the royal decrees issued in 1492 and 1501 ordering Jews and Muslims to convert or leave.

  • The Tribunal of the Holy Office of the Inquisition (Spanish: Tribunal del Santo Oficio de la Inquisición), commonly known as the Spanish Inquisition (Inquisición española), was a tribunal established in 1480 by Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile. It was intended to maintain Catholic orthodoxy in their kingdoms, and to replace the Medieval Inquisition which was under Papal control.

  • the melancholy music is rather distracting

  • @foxdragon84

Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world." I hope your not thinking your orthodox buildings are the kingdom? As people we r part of the kingdom of God which is heaven! Repent from your pride and religion. Religions= Islam Judaism ? Are u in that pool?? Plz answer

  • @chrisadrumz

Study the Spanish inquisition and use sources from where it happen ... Catholic priests didn't run around pointing who to kill ... A lot of it had to do with conquering Latin America.. I'm not even catholic

  • Thank you for this. I am a Mexican American convert from Texas. Orthodoxy has brought me face to face with My Lord Jesus Christ. His love is fully manifest herein. God bless you, brother.

  • @Xeres123 God bless you too, brother!

  • @Xeres123 yes i hear of orthodox christianity spreading through the Mexican community! God Bless you my brother in Christ!

  • @Xeres123 awesome im Mexican American and my chrismation is this sat. Christmas on the old calendar!

  • @neutralissy Man, how are they better?

Orthodox has been around since 33 A.D, Catholics since 1050's A.D.

Catholism was a branch off Christianity because a ruler of Rome willingly separated himself from the Orthodox.

Christian Orthodox didn't start the Spanish inquesition, and Historians say that the Spanish inquesition was arguably the most horrific era of Catholisms' past. I'm not saying Orthodox are better, but Catholics used questionable methods on trying to spread the word of God.

  • @neutralissy catholics lose too much followers who become atheists, cause you cant teach,we orthodoxes dont lose followers and teach well the truth of god and jesus

  • But the Truth is only one, and is found in the only Church founded by the 12 apostols. The Orthodox Church. Orthodox =The Right Faith Ortho = Right,Unchanged Dox = Dogma,Faith All the thousands of so-called christian churches starting with Catholicism lost Apostolic descendence. They are anathematised, because they changed the Faith

  • Catholics left us, and after them, the protestants split from them and drifted farther away from the true essence of Christianity, and then the anglicans, penticostals, baptists, etc, etc.... Now there are hundreads or even thousand of so-called "christian churches".Catholics are the origin of all the sects today. It is a saying... " There were three Great falls in history: 1)The fall of Satan 2)The fall of Adam 3)The fall of the first Pope in 1054! "

  • ORTHODOXY is the only true religion! All the other so-called "christian churches" changed very very many things in Christianity.. Catholicism changes and ajusts doga every day(a metaphore, but you got the idea). Orthodoxy has remain pure and unchanged since the 7 ecumenical councils at the dawn of Christianity.

  • the world greatest, proudest, bravest and oldest nation are orthodox

  • @foxdragon84

I think so... Because pride is a sin! Your also tying yourself on something in the world instead of the kingdom of God.

  • @solf08 what is the kingdom of God?

  • is my pride of belonging to the orthodox church a sin?

  • @foxdragon84 I hope not, becuase I take too much pride for belonging to Ethiopian Orthodox Church.

  • it makes me sad that more people dont know about orthodoxy. i m proud of my heritage in a long line of christians and i feel like screaming from the mountian tops. it feels like there are only so many of us and i want to share our apostolic tradtions and our catholic church for it was passed down to us from jesus christ himself through the apostles. i feel like ask any protestent " who began your church?" and they will say rev. so and so and then when they ask who started mine i will say jesus.

  • @dragongolds

Orthodox priests r allowed to marry?

  • @solf08

    Yes.

  • From the early Church Rome, along with other Patriarchates, enjoyed a primacy of honor (NOT universal jurisdiction). In 451 it was listed among the five great Patriarchates. Like the thumb is the most important of the five fingers Rome occupied the position of senior honor, because it was the capital of elder Rome. However, if the thumb separates from the rest of the hand it is not in itself the hand. Thus when Rome separated from the other four Patriarchates IT was in schism, not the "hand."

  • do u guys even eat kosher?

  • This is very informative and interesting, I can see why my father became an Orthodox Priest it is the true root faith and I thank God it still exists, Hallelujah!

  • Why revolved around the Greeks though?

as to say that the Ideology which is known as Christianity was obviously introduced to Philistine, Land of Tripoli, Anatolia etc.. and there is no historical collection of the first Christian Orthodox believers from (example) Lebanon; who were one of the first people to follow the Christian Orthodox faith.

Yeh, the Greeks created & Publisized the Holy Bible, but wasn't the Holy Bible created a few hundred years after Jesus Christ's era?

    Explain please.

  • @chrisadrumz because constantinopole was the center of eastern christianity for many centuries and Grecee continued to have an important role in Orthodox Christiniaty even after Const. fell.its just a cultural influence.

  • @beastclaw33 Cheers for that, bud.

  • @Krisafnisa By they have some Hristological dogmas that don't match those of the first church. We however don't have such dogmas.

  • Easter eggs is old world Babylon when their priest sacrificed humans, babies and dipped eggs in blood. "Easter" comes from Ishtar. Do Jews see The Passover as an Egyptian female fertility goddess? I think not

  • @IExposeMormonism Term Easter does not come from Ishtar, though it is still paganic. It comes from Eostre, or Ostara an old german pagan goddess. Term easter appeared in northren europe in the seventh century, when it was derived from Eostre. Before that term Pesach was used in Hebrew, and Pascha or Anasthasios in Greek. There is nothing paganic with Orthodoxy.

  • @RabMaksim My research shows Ishtar. But I may have a reference confirming you. I have to find it. Amy Rogers, in c. 1826 was prosecuted/framed for rape. His family is a major influence is the Episcopalian Church, I think. He describes his trial, overturning the conviction, how the perjurers did it, what happened to them, etc. He "swears by all the gods....." which didn't surprise me as he was a Freemason. In the back of his book is a definition of words like Easter. I think he agrees with you

  • @IExposeMormonismTo be truly of babylonian pagan origin the term would have to have evolved in the Middle East or Asia Minor in the days of early Christianity. However this is not the caseThree languages the Christianity was initialy spoken on have reffered to it as pascha or the from of it.Hebrew Pesach,Latin Pascha Greek Anastasi. Most european languages preserved such term: French Paques Dutch Pasen Swedish Pask Wells Pasg.Only English/German use Easter/Oester derived from Old German Goddesss.

  • very well done and laid out

  • Hail to orthodox Christians ! ! !

The only possible way of salvation ...

Serbia, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria, Georgia,

  • im a christian orthodox.. and i dont wanna be it, is there a way to remove it?

  • Your comment that "Can you prove that God does NOT exist is not based on logic. It is what we call a "Straw Man Argument". That being said, there are MANY historians that doubt the very existence of a "Jesus" but rather a fictional being conjured up by authors of several hundred years after Pilate of Jeruselem circa 35 Bce. So much for your silly rebuttal.

  • @beerman1957

Historians seem to be in a consensus a Jesus did exist. why would everyone religion recognize that Jesus existed if he didn't? Half of those religions are very hostile to each other.

  • Do you find a trusted wife gettop5.info

  • ZZZZZ/......z...z..z.z..z

  • greatings to all my orthodox brother all around the world from thailand

  • Yeah but what does that say about what y'all believe as opposed to other denominations? I didn't get much of an explanation.

  • @CupisHomines "Yeah but what does that say about what y'all believe as opposed to other denominations? I didn't get much of an explanation."

Whats there to explain? We are PRE-denominational. We were here first. This is just a simple historical fact. The Bible is a Greek Orthodox Church text; we created it and put it together. Most of the New Testament took place in Greece (Balkans/Asia minor). Corinthians, Galatians, Philippians, Colossians, Thessalonians, Revelation, etc.

  • @nikoz78 I was always told the bible was in hebrew and the Greeks were asked to translate to Greek.

  • Comment removed

  • @CupisHomines dont know, but somehow i'm thinking there's more to being a Greek Orthodox than what's presented here. More interested in doctrine and ritual. Not so much on social issues.

  • @CupisHomines as a bit more of an informative answer really if you want to learn what we believe, your gonna have to go to an orthodox church and find out, or get a good book I really liked "The Orthodox Way" its written by one of our bishops I believe and its gives a very good overall with out beliefs.

  • I'm shocked so few people knew what Greek Orthodox is.

  • I am orthodox.

  • @MGD230 There were, obviously, ethnic Greek followers of Christ in Greece itself....otherwise why would there be a letter to the Corinthians or the Thessalonians, or Phillippians?

  • @makari03 I meant to say "letters" not just "a letter"

    peace: Fr. Philip

  • I am Antiochian Orthodox Christian. I really like your video, which is very well presented. Thank you.

  • Only true Christians are orthodox Christians. Greetings from Bosnia.

  • God Bless you my Orthodox brother, great video, keep them coming!!

  • Only after the schism with the Pope, Constantinople was deemed successor

to Rome as the centre of True Christian Empire.

After the fall of Constantinople, Moscow took on the mantle of the "3rd Rome". Dont get me wrong I love the Greeks and what they have done in history and for the Church

But dont let nationalism harden your heart.

The Church of Christ has no nationality the Holy Spirit descended unto the Apostles so they could spread God's word

throughout the WHOLE WORLD in various languages.

  • Before you call anyone ignorant Christianity was legalised in 312 Constantinople was built years after that & when referring to Rome as the centre of Christianity, view it in terms of Patriarchal See not, geographical

capital. My bad in not explaining.

Because Apostle Peter (and him being seen as first among equals) was the first Bishop of Rome it was viewed with higher authority (reason for the Western Catholic's stubbornness & arrogance before the great schism), Constantinople was 2nd etc.

  • @grishka153 Rome was seen as first in honor because of its position as the former capital of the Empire. That does not equate power over others. St. Peter also founded the Church in Alexandria (and he is called Pope too) before he founded the Church in Rome. Why isn't Alexandria seen as the head of the Churches then? Because the Churches are equals.

The important thing to remember, though is that JERUSALEM was the first center of the Church.....

  • @makari03 Yes thats right, I was referring to the "Third Rome" & succession of Byzantine Empire. Rome was 1st, Constantinople 2nd, Moscow 3rd. The whole point I was originally making was there's no 1 nationality (i.e Greek) that claims Orthodoxy @nikoz78. Just because majority of people in the early Church spoke Greek (as 1 of many languages) and the gospels were written in Greek doesn't mean that the Church is Greek. Like the world now communicates in English, doesnt mean we are from England.

  • @grishka153

It was not just the Greek language. The early Church was in fact developed in Greek lands: Corinth, Thessaly, Macedonia, Asia Minor, etc. The Byzantine Empire, at it's core, was a Greek Empire. During it's time it was known to the West as "The Empire of the Greeks." Two Greeks from Constantinople created the Russian language so the Rus could read the Bible from their own tongue.

  • @makari03 Oops... Meant to say St. Peter founded Antioch. St. Mark founded Alexandria. Busy day.

  • For 5 years I have been questioning the existence of a supreme being. Though I have been atheist, I have had many doubts if I was 100% true. I could not show proof God did not exist, and neither could a Christian. So now I must study Orthodox/Evangelical Christianity once more and choose my path

    Russian+Slavic+Armenian+Greek Unity.

  • @varoujanx666 You will find that no one can prove God. And each person will tell you a slightly different thing called God. The only God there is lies within you. The word GOD means "enlightened" and does not mean PERFECT.

Just remember there is no evidence that this Jesus Guy even existed.

  • @beerman1957 Can you PROVE that God doesn't exist? I didn't think so. Also, there is plenty of historical evidence that Jesus existed. Are you joking? The Pagan Romans kept records, there is even one of Pontius Pilate (governor) writing to Cesar in Rome explaining the "upstart Jesus" and even describes him leaning against a tree talking to a crowd of people. That Jesus the man existed no historian could seriously deny.

  • If this is a true Christ like religion they will protect the gay, zoosexuals, furries ETC, as well, by their fruits ye shall know them, and fight for their rights so hate does not hurt them anymore in the world. If this church is true they will protect them.

If you condemn the zoo who portrays the loving fruits of my Savor, I will not call whoever a christen. Are you connected to the scribes and Pharisees or are you connected to the disciples who were guileless, and all loving?

  • To be Christ like is to not condemn anyone. A christen is meek, forgiving, 7x70, portrays the fruits of Gods spirit to whoever Galatians 522-23, Does unto others what they would want others to do unto them. Are peacemakers not war mongers. Are not cruel to nudists. Jesus is the Holy Spirit.that guides whoever into all truth. Communion is Christ spirit being you becoming flesh, blood. Not simply eating bread, drinking,-wine. When that happens whoever will be Good even to their enemies.

  • @grishka153 Wow, you don't know anything about Christian history!

  • @grishka153 Learn history. Lets deal with facts. If Rome was the first "protector" the why was Constantinople the Roman capital when Christianity was legalized? I mean, if Rome was the "sacred protector," as you ignorantly claim, the why was Christianity OUTLAWED in Rome for it's entire existence as the capital of the Roma Empire - until the capital moved to Constantinople? lol

  • @grishka153 you are wrong. rome was not the first center/protector of christianity. there were 4 centers of christianity and each of them administered by a bishop: the bishop of rome, the bishop of constatinopole, the bishop of alexandria and the bishop of antioch. peter was bishop of antioch long before he was bishop of rome. so according to your logic antioch should be the center of christianity. but it is not so. because all the bishops were equals.

  • @adijarca it was the bishop of rome who in his blind quest for power sought achieve supremacy over the other bishops. but all he achieved was that he separated himself from the other bishops.

orthodoxy is the true church not because the patriarch is the successor of saint peter but because the orthodox church has not changed for 2000 years. it is just as the apostles left it. on the other hand catholicism "modernized" by adopting the heretical teachings that further empowered the pope.

  • @adijarca I was explaining the concept of the third Rome.Rome was the first capital of a christian empire then moved to Constantinople soon after & Apostle Peter only spent 7 years Bishop of Antioch as opposed to 25 years in Rome & Antioch was not a capital of an empire

Personally I believe Jerusalem to be the centre of christianity & the world. The whole point I was making @nikoz78 is Orthodoxy is not just Greek, as you said "4 Centers", actually 5 including Jerusalem

  • @grishka153 Rome was never a Christian capitol during the Roman Empire. Constantine the Great (a Serbian) thought that Rome was too pagan so moved the capitol to a little Greek town called Byzantos (later renamed Constantinople in his honor). Thus the LEGITIMATE unbroken line of Roman Emperors continued for another 1,100+ years in Greece (which at the time was five times the size of modern Greece.) Constantinople was the center of the Christian world.

  • I'm Russian Orthodox and I love it :)

    God Bless you all!

  • We are Or†odox !!! We Serbians...! <3 <3

  • The sole purpose of Orthodox Christianity is the salvation of every human person, uniting him to Christ in the Church, transforming him in holiness, and imparting eternal life. This is the Gospel, the good news, that Jesus is the Messiah, that he rose from the dead, and that we may be saved as a result.

  • If you are a Roman Catholic, you have already left the Catholic faith, yes? Catholic means universal, Something can be universal without being true.
