  • "Rachel Maddow, now there's an impartial figure."

Ms. Maddow also stated on-air that there is no preamble in the U.S. Constitution, so she's also not very educated.

"We all know", blah, blah, blah, shaming language, blah, blah, blah. Jeez- have they no reasoned argument?

  • While I feel that between the GOP and the Democrats, the GOP is the lesser of two evils. The notion of always choosing the "lesser evil" makes me think that the trend of our republic will be that of a slow suicide.

  • You hit the nail on the head! We have got to stop picking between these two parties and start doing what's right for our country.

  • Thanks but they never lie. If they did the left would take them apart. NRO is one of the finest sources out there. They're conservative about their claims and have excellent investigative reporters. S, I doubt you've ever even opened up one of their magazines before. You know who lies? The left. Theirs is an emotional truth which is no truth at all. Fox? MSNBC doesn't even have a news hour. It's all leftists posing as journalists. Rachel Maddow, now there's an impartial figure.

  • That's inaccurate. You have created a straw man. For shame. You are also a liar as I did not embrace any statist principles. If you do not understand something you should ask to have it explained to you not form a mistaken opinion. I never said I was a "neoconservative." What I said (below and not here) was that what that person called a "neocon" was simply a desire to preserve the country, and such a desire is not "neocon" but perfectly normal. If you don't get it just ask.

  • Further, I don't condone any foreign adventurism, I'd close 100 of our bases in foreign countries, and I would never use soldiers as social workers. However, we must fight and destroy our enemies and there's nothing wrong with that. That's what successful countries historically have done. Supporting a strong military is a precondition for having a country. There are all sorts of libertarians and I am not an anarcho-libertarian which you may be confusing with ALL libertarians. .

  • They can say what they like in the jargon, but the idea behind hate crime legislation is that certain people are more valued by society than others. If you and I get in a fight and I call you a f-g I can face a special penalty along with federal charges for hate merely by calling you a name. It's absurd. The bill is also stupid because the killers of Matthew Shepard got life without parole and needed no other sentence. It's a way of making some citizens morally superior to others and is sick.

  • @pinegrove33 not that this adds much to what you are saying but recently there was a group of about 30 black men were arrested for video taping beatings in Denver. All the victims are white and yet it isn't a hate crime.

  • I am not White. However, I honestly believe, all but a small minority of Whites, would be in any position to defend themselves if the angry, violent and criminally minded ghetto residents were unleashed. It is only a matter of time before compounded poetical, economic, social and military misadventures bring down the US in a world shaking boom. Whites will generally be defenseless.

  • the poll numbers for your party is so low that anyone can win.

  • Yeah, they're already falling apart on the left. What you call neocon is simply a desire to defend the country. The Democrats see world unrest and want to blame us for it as a rule. That's an electoral loser in the long term. The Democrats have no ideas. They can only criticize and make accusations based on imaginary racism, sexism, etc. They're pathetic.

  • Good job, good commentary, and good objective of making VDH better known. VDH is one of America's most insightful and incisive pundits.

  • i have that shirt

  • the peace through superior firepower t-shirt. i should have posted where i found it.. especially since it's nearly got me killed a few times, spread the wealth i say.

    website: "life liberty etc."

  • "It is a problem that both 'sides' of the American politcal aisle always seek to grow and centralize."

Yes, I agree. Although I do not classify myself as a modern liberal, I have strong objections to the Patriot Act. But yes, Obama is violating a lot of civil liberties as well (Matthew Shepard Act, for example). The preponderance of those in Washington are pro-big government, which is basically another way of saying anti-liberty for the common citizen. It's time the people speak up.

  • The Matthew Shepard Act was what ultimately destroyed my support for Obama. So apparently, my life is now less valuable than the lives of homosexuals. What did they do to earn such special protection?

  • If you are a man then your life is also less valuable than a woman's via V.A.W.A. You can thank the vice president for that one. But I am sure the President supported it. If you are white then you are less valuable than any other race via The hate crimes law. But that is what happens when a liberal is put into office.

  • Not to mention it allows federal retrials for rape accusers - including false accusers - when state jurisdictions declare a not guilty verdict, in violation of men's 5th amendment due process rights and protection from double-jeopardy suits.

It's not just gays that are getting special protections, it's women too. But yeah, it sucks.
