IMPORTANT...your first fly kick is done as your arms entre the water, the second is done at the final extention of the elbow, at the bottom of the pull phase
You need to work on lifting your hips out of the water and yes, your second kick is much too early. Also keep your head as close to the water to reduce drag. Also, your head should go into the water before your hands enter. This should increase your speed greatly! Good Luck!
I cannot believe all the specific details you people give when his mistake actually pretty basic: is the second kick. it is too soon. you must lift the legs during the pull and kick during the push. the first kick is ok. once you have coordinated the kicks, then work on wave motion and etc.
As BgirlPeacock is saying this stroke is all about the wave. And you arent doing it as you should...Actually you need to work the most on the as*.He should come of the water as soon as your head hits the water..So you are making the hit with the arms then you are making wave with the head and then the as* need to come out side of the water. If this isn't happening then you arent making the wave properly. And don't bend your knees so much you need to work on 1 kick the other one is coming naturally.
@InTheMiddle95 And i saw something about your legs. You are making it very difficult for your self..What you are doing is that you hit the water with the arms then make 2 dolphin kicks and then recover this isn't a mistake but it will be easier for you if you make the first kick as you are doing it (when you hit the water with the arms) Try to make the second kick right before you make the recovery with the arms that will help you come out of the water easier...
Looking good so far! Pretty amazing you can do a 50m straight! The way I learned it? It's all about the wave. Chest-hips-legs-feet. Weigh the Wave more than anything. Everything will follow. Try not to bend your legs as much, also putting your feet together (like dolphin's tail.) As someone mentioned below, head first, always, followed by your arms. I breathe each time. Oh, and watching great flys definitely helped lots! Keep it up! Remember, wave! Show us your progress~
I suggest doing some half length sprints. I bet the faster that you go the better it will look. Your butterfly stoke is a little slow to have to be really efficient. I also recommend working on your stream line and using more hips instead of legs. This will also help with the kicking portion of butterfly.
you can do butterfly but it aint good, i think you're not really doing the right dolphine..try not to overbend your knees, don't push it too hard, and try to watch the videos of michael phelps or, try to get "go swim lesson" vid..good luck, keep it up, try hard and i believe you can do it better.. =)
Keep your legs together and don't bring them out of the water surface. You're just kicking with your legs, the point is to move your hips and the legs should follow. Your arm movement is OK but try not to bend your elbows. One more thing - head goes first in water then arms or you'll just sink like you do.
You are bending your knees way too much. The force in your dolphin kick should come from your hips not your knees. so just focus on moving your hips and letting the kick follow through the rest of your legs.
i don't think u are doing the dolpin kick. ur just doing a hard kick. ur hand movement is no bad, ur breading is good, but ur kicks is the problem. ur doing fine at everyting but ur kick. i been swiming for 2month and i can do the better fly really good. it's not that hard. practise on ur kicks. i'm making a video soon.
Thanks for share the error stroke.

You bend your knees too much on both kicks and your second kick is definitely too early. Kick your arms in, kick your arms out....

you got no dolphin kicks. your upper and lower body move sepearetely, not in unison
papapumpy 1 year ago
another way to see it would be that you are making the second kick before you start the stroke, when is the oposite: stroke, kick

You can't make body like a wave. So leg and your body don't compare.

Coordination is perfect! You just need too use your arms and legs together and stronger while you put your head outside.
Never bend your legs more than 90°.
Anyway this is very nice, there are not many people who can swim as you do;)

33 seconds in long course
31.9 seconds in short course.

When you are pulling (hands in the water), make sure you have high elbows and are catching the water, not letting the hands just slip by.

if u want me to send you a video i can.
my 50 fly time is 33 seconds so yes im pretty fast ..im 15

no offence dude, but you look real heavy and real slow!
zimonslot 3 years ago
I think the main problem is in your kick, don't bend too much your knees.
