  • I remember a good time in 80's.

  • Ouch...the poor scooter!

What a top tune from a top band. Never got to see The Jam, but got to see The Style Council a few times tho! Fooking Bostin

  • Loved Style Council, Weller on lyrics and great voice, DC Lee, what a singer and Talbot with the Hammond Organ. An angry band in the 80's who identified Tory/Capitalism and greed and had beliefs in their music. X Factor Sh*** etc, please take note!

  • Absolutely.

  • one of my favs what a choon

  • recorded in Woking, love this.

    xxx

  • Will someone please post the version of this song by The Jam? It is on their Extras album, issued in 1993, which I can't find anywhere...Thanks mates...

  • I found it on Rhapsody on "Gold" which has a lot of excellent stuff by The Jam.

  • his real name is john william weller

  • i used to go to parties at this hall in Woking!!!!! happy days!!!!!

  • proud to be a mod peace.

  • reminds me of the nights at annesley miners welfare.great times thanks for posting

  • Join the club fellow mod. Same age mate, got this on casette.Happy days eh?

  • It's a TV175 Series II to be a pedantic git...

  • Another quality Council tune.

  • This was one of the best songs ever in the 80's

    and the video is coool

  • Funny thing - I went to a wedding today and I needed a suit, so I went to the shop and bought an Italian mohair charcoal grey three button slim fit number. I got out of the shop clutching my bag and then realised - I'm 40 not 20. Since then I've been looking out all the old videos...

  • walked past a retro clothes shop in belfast the other day and there was a classic harrington jacket in the front window . Im in my late 30s but fuck it im going back for it next week . Ive earned the right to wear it .

  • sta prest , ben shermans , fred perry and headbutts - all the birds thought they were in dynasty...what the fuck . Still rocked though..suicide was unheard of .

  • fuck me im now offically old . Great tunes though , back when music had soul and you actually had to fight for the music you followed

i am victor meldrew..everything was better back in the day and we were cooler than you whippersnappers with your rollerblades and playstations

  • well, some younger kids are cooler too.....

and though I'm too young to remeber this song, I like it alot and all the other weller stuff too!^^

  • what chords was Weller playing in this song it is not easy to figure it out.....

  • Its a simple c# and Dmin.

  • my dad likes this song wooo

  • Dj Gary Crowley on the decks in this vid too.

  • Great song. This was the one of two that Weller wanted as the last Jam single. In the end he went for Beat Surrender because he thought Solid bond was a better song and wanted to do it solo.

  • i guess weller was pretty well off by then if he could afford to drop lambrettas like that.

  • Fancy a cup of tea down the caff?

  • sharp suits!

  • Thanks so much for posting up this joyous tune! My 45 is somewhere in the loft but I remember when I first bought it, I played it over and over - drove our kid mad... Weller can do no wrong in my eyes.

  • Thanks loads for this post! I am 45 and have never seen it before. Obviously-PW looks tight!(always does) and Mick holds it down too!(hats are BACK)No worry about that scooter-Weller gots cash for the fix-up!

  • The days of good old fashioned values, fantastic music, laughs and fun. Damn it even the weather was better then !

There was no RnB, Kanye West or other profanity based music....

Life was better al beit we had Thatcher...I'll stop there other wise I might bus a blood vessel..

  • Bloody hell, how cool can one man be

  • Weller looks sharp as f..k in this.

Shame he drops the scoot though!

  • The Council at their best...Ah to be 14 yrs old again!!!

I bought the gatefold single of this in 1983. :)

  • weyy filmed at wokin footbal club!

  • the version the jam done on extras is much better.

  • I concur enthusiastically ;-)

    Cheers...

  • the best Council Song In My View

  • is that place by woking train station

  • i thought it was thanks theaceface keep up the good work

  • Wasn't that Gary Crawley as the Dj...i could be wrong though

  • It is.

  • still a class song and video always makes me chuckle

  • Why, oh why dump the Lammy like that Paul?

  • Eddie Pillar at 1.57 and I claim my free Brutus short sleeve. Suedeheads....ha ha ha!

  • this is one song that always cheers me up if i'm low! x

  • Love the pink sox ......NOE !

  • my uncle had his 50th birthday party here,

& yeah, the dancing wasn't much better !!

  • i luv this song:

funny how all the old songs sound so much better! x

  • Not sure about the dodgy dancing in the background though, what a bunch of muppets

  • I like the subtitles on this video, with its Cockney accents and slang.

    -MINESWEEP

  • this is how we party, down in woking, surrey - oh yeah! x

  • Great song picks me up for lousy day at work!

  • Piller is on screen about 1.55 mins in (Mick T moves him out the way). I was in it as well (at the end as well as the dancing scene - which knackered the continuity as we was in the flashback and the 'now' scene!). Filmed at Woking FC.

  • I heard Eddie Piller is in this video, where is he?

  • A perfect antidote to this cack weather!

    Absolutely A1!
