LoL, 1000 HaHa. iPad + Fore Flight + Bad Elf gps. Way less than 1,000 and works great, I have 2,000 gps system on my iPad. PS. Bad Elf plugin gps is perfect for my wifi only iPad, 10m accuracy at FL320!
You don't need to try and make Ipad work as a flight tool. Ipad II costs $599 then you have to buy a external GPS, then all the many software, none of them do everything you need, so you are looking at over $1000! Then you will still not have everything you need. OR you can just buy an EFB, I have a VFRpad, it has everything built-in, no update costs. I paid $425!
Great stuff thanks for the info. i think when I make mineI'll reverse the knee board so that the info on the face of it will be viewable on the back side. Other than that I love the idea. I wa slooking at the garmin 696 but seeing how the ipad works with foreflight I can save thousands of dollars in both initial costs and updates.

i just hooked up my iPad to kneeboard today, I have the same kneeboard except I ended up spending 0$ because the clip you drilled off actually very conveniently and securely clipped my pre-existing iPad case to the kneeboard
I've made one so that it works on both my fix wing and the flex wing aircraft, thanks once again
