If you listen closely, there is a clue in "Get up and Go"--"He traded with a dealer with a pick up truck and was looking for a medium load". Some thought this meant a spiritual person of the occult (medium), but in fact, it was a large load of Darjeeling Tea, which most of the youth back then drank in large quantities, trying of curse, I mean of course, to expand themselves to somehow emulate the Rutles with insight and creativity. But Ron and Nasty were so far ahead of the pack. They knew it
Notice the hidden clues in the last verse? See, Dirk is Deaf, and The Rutles left clues in their songs and albums. The last verse explains the car accident that left him deaf. Also notice on the cover of Sgt. Rutters there is an open hand behind Dirks head, which is sign language for "Hello".
I ahte to admit it, but their best songs were influenced so heavily by drinking tea. I think they drank tea heavily before they went to India. They were heavily into tea byt the late 60s, but can you blame them? Everyone was drinking tea by then.
Hard to believe watching this, that Dirk and Nasty's solo careers would be so crap. Dirk's singles in the 1970s were particularly dreadful. Remember the following shit?
Bland on the Run
Mull of Flat Tires
The Bog Chorus
I think all that tea ruined his songwriting ability
ROTFLMAO !!!! I love the Fab four , and as a beatles fan from way back AS a kid in the 60s and 70s this is a trip ! a spoof on the apple roof concert XD !!
wish I had the MP3 of this tune its VERY well done !
The ending is what the Beatles wanted to happen to them. They thought the cops dragging them off the roof whould have been a great ending to the Let It Be film. But, as Ringo said in the Anthology, "they just came bumbling in... 'You've got to turn that sound down.'"

these came out after 1960s the rutles copied beatles as a parody, stop making up fake dates rut4. the beatles made all the songs first and the rutles copied them as a fun parody believe me im 49 i was in this era. i belever rutles were 1975ish
Here's a trivia fact - you know why this wasn't on the vinyl version of the soundtrack?
John Lennon told them to remove it. (Lennon actually had some say in what songs appeared on the album, and warned Neil that he would probably be sued for this.)
Most of the great guitar work on this movie/album was performed by the late Ollie Halsall, who worked with Neil (Ron Nasty) Innes and John (Barry Wom) Halsey in a number of bands.
I was referring to Lennon's actual licks in "get back" but i love Ollie's work. I am a huge Rutles fan . . along with Paul Simon, Mick Jagger and George Harrison.

I agree with you, sort of. It's amazing how he did this without the rest of Monty Python

Let's" get up and go" get this show on Broadway. It would be a favorite like CATS.

The only thing missing is an African-American, modelled after Billy Preston, playing the electric piano.

Yes, Get up and Go is actually very similar to Get Back. Quite astute of John Lennon.

Stop pretending you know these facts. John warned Neil that Paul or the record people would sue him, he was all for Get up and Go
