The ENTIRE game is stupidly hard. Ever make it to the speeder bike level? It's damn near impossible unless you have every single part memorized. And for the 2nd player, it is impossible. A bug prevents them from completing it.

This is called "Dying so many times in the past that you have everything memorized at this point". That's how I eventually cleared Level 3 (the bike level). Never did beat the game though. I much prefer the NES sound effects and music, though. Still, nice skills man :)

I love Battletoads for the NES. The graphics look pretty good for this game. Unfortunately, the sound and music moved in a backwards direction as far as remixes go. I always remembered the sound effects reminding me how hard a hit was, whether it being from ramming the opponent with my horns or kicking the shit out of him.

On top of that, it's got that Genesis effect that makes everything sound like aids.

That rumor is fake. Battletoads is owned by Rare, who is now owned by Microsoft so it's impossible.

Seriously? Dude, Nintendo doesn't own Rare anymore. Microsoft does. There might be one on the 360 due to a petition. This has nothing to do with God. Unless if someone like Sierra or Activision buy the rights to the game, then it could be possible for it to be on the Wii or even the PS3 but that's not the case so no. Good opinion though. ;)

The Genesis version, despite having a better palette, is just plain uglier than the NES version. It doesn't make sense! Perhaps they spent more time polishing the NES version and that's why I like it more. Plus there are so many animations that are cut off in this version.  EXCEPT for the snake's corners. Those are way better.

That is your personal opinion. The Genesis's sound chip is great. The difference between it is SNES is a digital sampler, while Genesis is an Analog FM Synthesizer with one channel that can do Digital Samples if necessary. The sound chip in the Genesis gets a bunch of crap thrown at it though is because the quality of sound depends entirely on the quality of code running it. If the code sucks, the sound is going to suck, this is why Street Fighter 2 has such bad voices on Genesis.

The sound chip did NOT suck. as the poster below me answered correctly, there is a huge difference between FM Synthesis and Wavetable.

There are plenty of Genesis games that put shame to their SNES ports music wise, and vice versa. The SNES may have had a 'superior' sound chip, but two things come into play here. 1: It's all about the programming, and 2: the SNES was newer than the Genesis. FM synthesis was the de facto standard then.

How do you figure? In the Genesis version, you can't destroy the instant kill gas jets and propellors in the elevator shaft stages, and there is no secret warp in Rat Race- that alone makes it more difficult than the NES version, I'd think!
