Hmm, I use a garden hose for that type of thing, it knocks the hornets out of the nest and I meet 'em on the ground with a fly swatter. If the fall doesn't kill them they'll either drown or face the swatter. Plus, it'll knock the nest down in time.

Hmm, I use a garden hose for that type of thing, it knocks the hornets out of the nest and I meet 'em on the ground with a fly swatter. If the fall doesn't kill them they'll either drown or face the swatter. Plus, it'll knock the nest down in time.

It seems common to label all stinging insects "bees". From a health perspective, proper identification is essential because if someone gets stung, telling the medical staff it was 'bees' could result in the wrong treatment (in the event of allergic emergency).
Also, their nest is just a 'nest', not a 'hive', as that is the term for a bees' home only.
I hope your buddy is okay, because sending him there (with allergies, yet!) is fairly terrifying.
