  • It is so true. But some religions now teaching kids murder, is planting bad cause for them, this is so wrong. Repay is they always have troubles too. But, they do not understand this.

  • Hello Quy4life, I have translated this video to my understanding. I hope that others who are reading this help correct any mistakes that I make.

In addition, you can email your queries to amtb@amtb.tw for further clarifications on your enquries. =) Have a pleasant day ahead!

  • With reincarnation, we often hear about a few aspects that is associated with the prior. In particular, Karma. As the proverb go, "You will reap what you sow when the time comes." But many of the people devote themselves to religion with the intention of doing good in their current life in order to reap the benefits for their next. In their minds, they think that it doesn't matter that they suffer in their current life and instead, putting their efforts into helping others.

  • However, their motive for helping people is to ensure that the good that they have done in this life will be translated into rewards such as a better next life, that the benefits will go their offsprings, greater monetary wealth in the future. If the purpose behind doing good is with the intention of getting benefits, wouldn't the action of doing good lose it's initial purpose?

  • This is also not a bad thing altogether. But if one does the above mentioned, it will mean that one's knowledge in religion is only on a superficial level.

  • And so, his rewards for doing good is also as follows.

Limited. The benefits of doing good follows one's intention of doing good. If one does good without thinking of any reciprocation, then his rewards will be limitless. However, if one does good with an intention of benefit, then his rewards will be limited. Without thinking of reciprocation, one's intention will equate to a limitless space. And so, your rewards will be limitless.

  • If you are doing good for the sake of your family, then your benefit will only be limited to the size of your family. If you are doing good for the sake for the society, then your benefit will be limited to the size of the society. If you are doing good for the sake of the world, then your benefit will be limited to the size of the world. So, if you do good without any thoughts of reciprocation, then the benefits of doing good will be limitless.

  • We should be in the pursuit for the purity of one's heart through religion. And so, one should not have a boundary for his actions or intentions for doing good. And most importantly, never to have the intention of benefiting oneself only. If one were to have that intention, then one's good karma will be subjected to a limit.

  • Host: I believe many of the those who are vegetarian and recite Buddha's name should reflect if they should be in the pursuit of a greater meaning of doing good in order to obtain greater wisdom and not to limit oneself in the purpose of doing good. Through religion, we hope to seek to discover one's true nature (in Buddhist beliefs, everyone is born with a kind nature) so that we can be the happiest person, despite many obstacles.

  • However, that being said, there are many people whom are unable to fathom the way to happiness even if one watching the program now or even if they are able to acknowledge it at the moment, but once they leave the environment that preaches what was being said - to think more about the greater good of the public and live with a contended and grateful heart - the feeling of being lost may once again resurface.

  • Perhaps it may be a kind of illness or a kind of emotional or mental influence for instance, depression. It is a condition that is very serious that makes them feels like a constant struggle with the devil every night, tearing their souls apart. Constantly feeling that one is the most insignificant person in the world and so the action of suicide follows.

  • So how can we help those people facing this problem? I mean, it's not feasible that we seek help from you (Reverend Jing Kong) to talk to those in need everyday to console them. And so, how does one help those facing depression so that they could also live their life happily?

  • In Buddhist view, we talk and focus a lot on affinity. In affinity, we can link the subject back to Karma. The key for the happening of Karmic relations is affinity. If affinity is not present, Karmic relations will not occur. This is why Buddhist teaching values much importance in affinity. Karmic relations: if you are doing good deeds, then good affinity follows and then you will reap the benefits of what good deeds you sow.

  • However, when one encounters bad affinity, then the good deeds that one does will be suppressed and the bad deeds that one does will be evoked by the bad affinity and one's bad karma will surface. This is the truth. As what Buddhist believes, everything is emptiness (just like a dream), the only thing that is does not subscribe to the above is Karmic relations. And so, why does Karmic relations differ when everything includes the prior?

  • That's because when one reaps what they sow, Karmic relations cease to exist and thus leading to emptiness. We can illustrate the above by using the example of planting a peach tree. The seed of the peach is the cause and when the seed becomes a tree, the seed is gone and so is the cause. When the tree bears fruit, it signifies the effect. And when the fruit drops onto the ground, the cycle happens again.

  • And so, we can say that Karmic relations will always exist due to it's 3 traits. First, the happening of Karmic relations will always exist. Secondly, the cycles of Karmic relations happens endlessly and thus will never cease to exist. Lastly, the causal effects of Karmic relations will always never cease to exist: Good deeds (cause) will have it's rewards (effect); bad deeds will also have it's due effects.

  • This is the truth and how the world works. This is not man made and so Buddha said, everything that happens in the world is due to Karmic relations and it applies to those of other worlds (other dimensions).

  • To put it into perspective, everything is due to Karmic relations and so, Buddha teaches us to do good deeds and never the bad as you will reap what you sow. The first lesson Buddha teaches: One must not do bad deeds nor make enemies with anyone. If you were to make enemies, the resulting outcome will be endless revenge on each other.

  • And in the event that we meet those who wants revenge on us, we accept without the slightest thought of anger nor hatred. For those that bully me, I accept with happiness. If they were to hit me, I will let them be. If they were to scold me, I will not engage in a quarrel. I will always treat others with appreciation, love and honesty. If one were to abide by that behavior, the other party will inevitably be touched one day and change his perception toward you - that you are a good person.

  • And through this, perhaps the both of you could become good friends because the other party has have never met a person with such an behavior. In the end, they will think that we are most reliable. People must use sincerity to treat others in order to change them and never to let the emotion of hatred to lead us to hurt others. That doesn't solve the problem between two and in fact, cause more problems.

  • i need subtitleeeeee. =[

  • Actually many things are hard to tell, for example, have no resent to those who done very evil things to us. Most people really hard to do that. But, hopefully we finally can be able to do that and can bear the unfair and learn this hard course. It is so hard.

  • 净空法师还是没有解答主持人最后说的那个关于忧郁症的问题啊。谈了半天因果报应什么什么的……

  • @mukangcheng

    法师已经讲解了!

  • 法师已经讲解了!

  • @mukangcheng
