this guy has come a long way. going from a heroin addict to an alcoholic and is all i now so far. if u like i recommond his autobiography called Clapton
The guy that says "Remember Duane Allman" is totally right. Clapton is overated. Allman made Layla and the entire album what it was. Listening to Clapton during the piano solo is the perfect example of a solo with very little emotion, it just goes no where.
It's amazing how Claption never mentions Duane and what he did for the song and record. Clapton is a great guitarist, but falls a bit short of the true great innovators. He even stole that piano solo from Jim Gordon.....
That's ridiculous. The entire Derek & The Dominos record was attributed to all of the musicians involved. Duane Allman would never have had such a canvas to paint his notes on if Clapton wasn't around. This video shows that Clapton can certainly pull his own weight without Duane. Allman didn't even play on the first couple of sides on that album. The album was destined to become a legendary recording whether Duane was there or not.

innovation with being high?? wtf, do you know how much music he made and he also changed the way a guitar should be played. you forget that his career was only 3-4 years. and hendrix also made clapton go of stage because hendrix played killing floor so fast and "crazy".
You're another moron. The state of rock guitar was changed forever by Hendrix. He did things in the studio that had never been done before, he changed the state of stage performance, and made the world aware of jazz-like improvisation in rock music, much as Cream did. He also worked the groove like no one else in his day.
well first off i think that you are all idiots com[aring clapton to hendrix. their styles were just to different. they were both innovators of the instrument. And to saying that clapton isnt as good as he used to be is stupid. i saw him in june and he was incredible. he played better and tighter with his band than i have heard on any live recording from the 70s plus back then he was drunk all the time.
CLAPTON PLAYS WITH PASSION UNLIKE TODAYS MUSIC, MAN!!

Clapton originally dreamed of the song sounding like his acoustic version, but this version proved to be much more popular at the time.
i don't mean to be an asshole, but where the hell is the duane allman style slide guitar solo, it with the piano accompanying it is what made the song, i can't believe it this version just plain sucks pretty much without the slide solo, great tone on the piano and guitar, but the version of the song just ain't for me at all, i love the slide guitar solo from the original.
Eric Clapton is such a shitty guitarist. Tom Morello is way better. Clapton just wishes he were an old black man with a giant dong (Clapton has a small penis).
u r on drugs, they aren't even in the same genre catagory. Cobain was too f---ed up to sing like he should.that is why clapton is still alive and cobain isn't DUH
um well clapton was pretty "f--ed up" too although Clapton is far better and cobain is dead because Courtney fucking Love or CO-CO or watevr the fuck she calls herself now
I tend to side with Clapton being a bit better then Jimi. It's hard to say that one influenced the other, since they both were in their prime at the same time. We can't say how influential Jimi would be at this point today since he passed away so you, but Clapton has been so influential that he has to be #1 on the top guitarists list.
For one, he's still alive. Yeah, it's a horrible thing to say, but there is no telling how Hendrix would be playing to day.
So, Clapton at 63 sells out any venue that can get their hands on him. Would Hendrix do that today? Probably, but we will never know.
Clapton took the style of Blues, and studied it from the Masters. He then mastered it himself, and might be solely responsible for the popularity of blues today. He
i agree. back in the day, they were both awesome. but if hendrix was still alive he may or may not be as good. clapton even admitted that he's not as good as he once was. so who knows

Absolutely. Some of the things that Hendrix pulled off on stage were beyond what a human should be able to do. I also feel that a lot of his playing was too fast and unorganized. It was his style, he played what he felt at the time, and it was very good.
That being said, Clapton has to be the most versatile guitarist ever. He's done everything from serious blues, to blues rock, to country rock, to rock and roll, to jazz, to complete unplugged albums (which sold best).
How can it be that six blokes can turn out such unswerving brilliance? Some performances have highs and lows, others maintain. This one just gets better and better.

How can it be that six blokes can turn out such unswerving brilliance? Some performances have highs and lows, others maintain. This one just gets better and better.
