Who gives a shit about this hopeless poor excuse for an NHL team and their shit players. They suck shit. Let's cheer on Canada's team the Canucks!! Go Canucks Go!! Here we come Lord Stanley!! Get ready!!
Id hardly say I was proven wrong. Seguin is having an amazing year in his sophomore season. Seguin could easily turn out to be the better player. Not to mention Doug Hamilton and Jared knight. Also since the Trade the Bruins have won the stanley cup and are currently 1st place in the east. The leafs are yet to make the playoffs and are clearly a worse team than Boston. Plz enlighten me on how we won this trade ?
@jayvardy Put words in my mouth? Where did I say we won the trade? That's first. Second, I'll go ahead and say we won this trade because...well, he's the god damn leading goal scorer in the league. He is top 5 for points. He is 24. he hasnt even reached his full potential. Yes, Seguin is good, and he'll probably get better, but we needed a scorer, and we got arguably one of the best in the league. And dont give me this miss the playoffs bullshit, that has nothing to do with Kessel.
i dont get y all bruins fans r making fun of kessel u didnt make fun of him last year when he was on ur team so buck up look at last year u guys were in first with kessel now u ur team is in 5th barly. 4 points and they are in 9th so u can say what u want about kessel but he made the bruins alot better last year
who is this Phil Kessel? i didnt see him at either of the boston games. all i saw was this pussy who cant play defense and got mad becausehe got planted on his ass a couple times, im gonna go watch Bruins in 2 and see if he shows up for that game too.
Why in the world would you put a natural goal scorer as a fucking defence man? Maybe that's why he sucked as a fucking shit head Bruin. So go back to your baseball/ basketball town, and suck something. You shits should be happy he's gone right? No more shit defence? So just shut the fuck up.
?????? U can have your Phill the Thrill!!! U guys are still shit!!!! 5 straight years NOT making the Playoffs!!!! And you can count on another top 5 pick next year for the Bruins cuz the Leafs are gonna shit the Bed again!! BTW Thanks for Hall or Seguin! Oh and i almost 4got thanks for Rask....LOLOLOLOLOL Golf Leafs Golf!!!
What a fucken joke your francise is!!! The Leafs should join the PGA tour with all the golfing they do!!! GO BRUINS!!!!
for now..the sens are coming lol they have been back and forth for a while lol but boston is better than the sens no doubt but im hoping the sens keep it close.
I am a Bruins fan. And i think....that we miss kessel. He was our main man, the face of the bruins. Look at us this year we arent half the team we were last year without him.
Well, if you look at it this way.. If Toronto keeps this up.. the Bruins will have two extremely high 1st rounders in the upcoming years. I honestly think Toronto overpaid especially if they are not getting immediate results this season. Still.. it's early in the season.
I just posted a Bruins season preview and it somehow snowballed into being mostly about this exact topic because I think the Bruins are overrated by most pundits now that they've lost Kessel.
I am very curious to see how Phil does without Kessel. By no the defensmen of the league know his one deke (inside outside) that is becoming less effective. The Bruins with the return of Sturm, Recchi for a whole season and Patrice Bergeron coming back to full form there should not be a problem making up for his 36 goals.
I think you Leafs fans will ultimately be delighted with this trade...even if the Bruins use the picks to get better, thats in the future and Kessel is already the real deal at 21........... the kid is so skilled and REALLY exciting to watch.....he's a proven commodity, very underappreciated by the Bruins brass. Komisarek is a cock tickler and I hope Lucic beats him unconscious once and for all. Good luck.......Original 6!!!!......Fuck Montreal!!!!
uh bud, komisarek has proved already that he isnt very talented, but a player who goes out there to take penalties. The leafs basically handed the bruins taylor hall because we all know they are coming last, and they are gonna give the bruins next years 1st overall too.
Hey Bruins fan here. First off, wanted to say that remind me of sxephil here on youtube. Second, Kessel was one of my favorite Bruins and we're going to miss him in the scoring department. At the same time, the Bruins have enough depth that I think if we were to remain uninjured we won't have a difficult time compensating for those goals. I feel like Phil's a really great fit for the Leafs and I'm happy for him. Sucks he's still in our division though. He's going to be a real threat to Thomas.
think about it: you do not have first or second-round picks in the next draft, and no first-round pick in the draft after that. nice going sacrificing even more of your future for a quick fix.
i would expect that from a habs fan. july 1st consisted of your best players sign away from montreal, one after the other, and your gm desperately scrambling to "frankenstein" a team by rapidly signing random players who don't even fit into the roster. It's like he ran his finger down a list and signed the most familiar names. the habs are gonna suck this year.
if you don't believe that gomez gionta and cammaleri is an overall upgrade over tanguay koivu and kovalev, you need to get your head out of your ass. and if you wouldn't take spacek mara and gill over komisarek bouillon and brisebois your head must be even further up your ass. the only thing that could really do us in is if we lack chemistry all season long, but i still think my team is good enough for at least a playoff berth, so fuck you.
how many first round picks develop into 36 goal scorers by the age of 21? not many. considering that toronto will be picking much lower in each of the next two drafts, the chances of drafting 3 players that will EVER help the leafs as much as kessel can are nearly non existant. drafting is always a gamble. any gm who could gaurantee a 21 year old, 36 goal scorer with his first pick, would gladly give his 2nd and another first. kessel's not an old man. he has 50 goal seasons in him!
Bruins fan here. We traded away a true scoring threat, but with the Leafs' picks, we'll get some help on defense in four or five years. Winning a playoff series was super sweet this year. It'll probably be another ten years before we another one. When the Bruins make moves like this, it's little wonder why they get lost in the wake created by the Sox, Pats, and Celtics.
Burke needs probably two fwd players to aquire in a trade so they can mesh with Phil on one line. A passer for sure and a skilled banger like Lucic to give him some room out there. But who knows?
As much as I like Kessel and he was "mah boy" in Boston.. I gotta say that maybe he has become a bit too greedy. 5 years... 27 millions... BOOM! but i'm not sure that's so great for the Bruins... drafts seem to get sloppy. Remember Alexandre Daigle? He was the big deal... the new Gretzky or Lemieux... finally he was... well I guess we all know. Anyway I wish Kessel good luck, but I wish he has good memories of the Bruins, cause I know the fans are having good ones of him.
Yes because TML 1st round draft picks have been historically very good. Players like Drake Berehowsky, Brandon Convery, Eric Fichaud, Jeff Farkas, Jeff Ware, Nik Antropov, Luca Cereda, and Carlo Coliacovo have all made their mark in draft bust history (with the possible exception of Antropov and Coliacovo). Really when was the last time the leafs draft 2 decent 1st round picks? Answer: 1985 (Clark) and 1986 (Damphousse) but beyond that we are among the worst draft team in professional sports.
You notice that most of the ones that you named were from JFJ? Get with the times. These Leafs are different. The players are different. The office is different. These Leafs are looking good.
Also, did you forget about Luke Schenn? He's definitely an up-and-coming superstar and he might even be the captain of the Leafs one day. Also, Nazem Kadri is looking great. He might need a few years in the minors but right now, it looks as though that he could actually start the season off with the Leafs.
Actually none of those are from John Fergusson Jr. Most are from Cliff Fletcher's 1st go as GM. JFJ traded most of his 1st rounders off. I specifically left off Luke Schenn and Nazem Kadri because they are far too young to tell where their career is going. It demonstrates a bigger problem in the leafs organisation: Our scouting SUCKS terribly, and while it has been getting better lately, its still amongst the worst in professional sports. Now since we can't buy our way, the team suffers
Sorry. I forgot that Cliff Fletcher was our GM before JFJ. And it's true: our scouting sucks. If we had scouts like Detroit's, then well... we'd be great.
Also, I shouldn't have mentioned Schenn or Kadri. You're right, they are too young right now, but I think we can both agree that Schenn will be a very good player in the future, considering that he did very well on last year's Leafs. Although his stats look bad, you have to look at who he played with last year, which wasn't greatest.
There's also Ken Dryden and Pat Quinn in there as well, but all of the picks I said were from Cliff Fletcher. My original point is that I like this trade because we got a very young and established player for three unknown picks. 2010 is looking like a weak draft year anyway (unless you think the leafs are a bottom 3 team, which I dont)
I certainly hope Schenn, Kadri and even Tlustly work out, but Kessel I feel is less of a risk then all three of those.
It's true. I'm not liking the 2010 draft, and I certainly do not think that the Leafs are a bottom 3 team. You're right: the Leafs are getting Kessel, a player that has proved to be quite an asset, while we gave up 3 picks which are unknown as of now, and nobody knows if they turn out to be great picks or busts. So overall, the trade was awesome, and Kessel will be a huge asset for the Leafs, especially since we know that he can play great.
Plus hes great on Shootouts (something we desperately needed) as all leaf fans are painfully aware of, If our team was even average at shootouts we would have had at least 2 playoff births in these past four years.
Boston won that trade hands down (ima leafs fan) burke had a chance this year to get a player whose plays are equal to kessel, remember how heatley wanted to leave ottawa and come to toronto? ye, and burke didnt take him because he was pals wit h the senators gm, that wuuda gave us a great player for wut cuuda been some d-men, also, if gustavsson proves all the hype coming because of him WAS true and steps up, we will say goodbye to vesa and kaberle, for some draftpicks at the trade deadline!
or the leafs could be like the rangers and do amazing in the beginning look like stanley cup contenders and look like nothing can stop them and then they will be the rangers
Tough to say who won. On one side, you could say Boston wins because they acquired 2 first round picks and so on. But Kessel was a first round pick and they sent him packing three years later. On the other side, you could say Toronto wins because they got Kessel and fill in a spot they really needed to fill in. However, Kessel is a risk health-wise so we don't know what to expect from him in a Leafs shirt. We'll have to wait and see how it pans it before really judging this one.
i think this is good for the leafs, they gained a skilled foward to rack up even more goals but on the down side they lost 2 first round draft picks, maybe burke will trade away some of those unnesscery defencemen he has stockpiled for another 1st round draft pick for the 2010 draft
@sunflowerpixie1 ya kessel is real old at 23. and shitnasty has 11 goals, big deal. Thanks for the 2 points tonight, and Thanks for Kessel once again. GO LEAFS GO!!!
i think it was a win win for both teams.. Leafs got their elite forward. Bruins got picks that they can swap for forwards/ Defense at the deadline if they need them for the playoffs..
perfect move for the leafs we seriously need a right winger and a goal scorer i think he should play with stajan since he got 40 assists last season so he has a good playmaker and blake on the left wing i think he was a lot we give up for 2 first rounder and a second but o well the 2011 draft is gonna he shit anyways so we only lose 1 round and 2nd round pick
36 Goals last year? Yes. Marv savard pasing to him last year doesn't hurt. Who's going to set him up on the leafs? Jason Blake??? Hahaha. Good luck with phil by all means. But i doubt he breaks 25 goals.
This trade makes me nervous, but I'm going to keep my hopes alive and not be pessimistic about it. Burke didn't exactly "give away" the drafts picks, cause it IS Phil Kessel. I am excited to see him play!
hey Steve, i posted a blog on leafspace about the Leafs "demonic213" is the username, check it out and let me know what you think :P. It's not really based on Kessel, but the Leafs in general. Especially their lines.
boston could end up being the winner in this deal lets just say the leafs end up with the 10th pick this year and the 15th pick next year and kessel underachievs
Yeah, much like how Jason Blake can't handle the pressure of being in Toronto, right? That yank was only Toronto's point/goal leader last year.
That being said, as a Bruins fan, I'm torn on the Kessel deal. Shipping away young talent is quintessential Bruins management, but the picks they got for him are pretty tantalizing. We'll just have to wait and see how he pans out in Toronto.
just saw on the Leafs site that they featured you. they probably have been doing that before, but congrats on your success, you really know your stuff, all the best in the future. GO LEAFS
Steve, you are AWSOME!!! You sir, are going to be the next Don Cherry. Love your videos... Keep up the great work. Your opinons are bang on the money!
Well as I'm sure many have pointed out there are 2 big Q's yet to be answered to see of this deal is good or not. If the Leafs bomb this year (or next) and those 1st's ends up being Top 5 Picks then......yeesh. Also, Kessel had Savard setting him up all year, unless the Leafs get a bonafide play maker Kessel's numbers will likely dip.
Here's the deal. Burke overpaid, big time. I don't think Kessel is a natural goal scorer. I think he's a byproduct of an offensively dominant Bruins team. Not to mention he played on a line with arguably the most underrated playmaker in hockey. Kessel's big year was due to a stacked Bruins team and Marc Savard. I wouldn't give him too much individual credit. I'm not a Bruins fan, but I think the Bruins made a smart move here. Burke can be so idiotic sometimes.
I somehow have to agree with you, I feel its hard to give Kessel a title when he's had nothing but inconsistent seasons, on a Bruins team with stacked lines.
I don't think so...the 2010 draft looks weak, unless you are in the top 2 or 3...what are the chances of drafting a player as good as Kessel in the mid 1st round?
Plus, Burke has been signing young talented players over the past 6 months....the cupboard is looking more respectable.
Don't forget that the 2nd round pick sent to Boston was for 2nd round pick 2011 and 3rd round pick in 2011 in a trade with Chicago. If I got that right, we only got, 3rd in 2010 and 4th in 2011 as higher picks in the next drafts...
That also mean that we won't be able to buy any good player for draft picks at the upcoming deadline.
ostrand006 yah he was benched cuz he wasent doing anything but the seriers was 3-1 habs and if u can remember it went to 7 games and its all because of kessel
LOL , I left a comment on your be channel.. sayin "Welcome to the Jungle"...Is that y u said that.........But yeah dude Kessel is a big move...........
Risky move, this trade could pay out for both teams. Last year kessel had a break out year with a much better supporting cast then here in toronto but lets hope he can keep it up.
Good for Boston werent going to be able to sign him anyways cause he wanted over 5 mill and when your only a one way player who is inconsistent at sometimes and hot sometimes is a lot. Plus we have cap now free to spend maybe on a solid player..still some good unrestricteds out there..his hustle at times is questionable he was benched in 08 playoffs cause he wasnt doing anything pretty much not trying
i waited all night for this to post. it was a gr8 pick up for the leafs, burk said kessell is a first round pick so that covers one and his college pick ups will replace the other first and second i almost agree but it would have been nice to have those players and our first rounders still. i mean as of now we dont pick till 3rd round next year and second round the year later. u say we wont pick a phil kessel in our draft position but we wont even pick a player with a chance in the third imo
play shitty over the next two years, then boston might win the trade because they'll get high picks. but look, the leafs got a load of young talent and lots of players signed longterm. kessel is a beast!
The Leafs scare me a little bit given the extreme Burke makeover, and not just because they beat the Flyers in the Preaseason 4-0. Well tonight should be a different story.
Good on them getting Kessel though I do think it was a bit overpayment. But still a bird in hand is better than two in the bush.
its gonna be a few years to see who got the better deal in this trade. i mean....phil is a great player ,but he still has a lot to live up to and can he do that after surgery?? Also we (Bruins) could end up drafting 3 kessels or 3 Alexander Svitov's. Time will Tell...Bye Phil best of luck in "the jungle".
You have NO IDEA how excited I am! This cements us in a playoff position in my opinion! This guy is only getting better. Welcome to Toronto Phil!
And as for the high price... true, it is a high price, but I'm thinking about it this way... those picks will be mid-to-late first round... there's no way we would draft a guy like Phil at that position in the draft. Now they are 3 picks, but Burke did an amazing job picking up prospects this year, so I'm not too torn up about it.
I think he made a smart move, he stated that Phil Kessel would do alot better than most of the drafts, and plus prob wouldnt put up 36 goals. Hes 21, scored 36, I think he will be amazing in Toronto.
this is no doubt a big move, and one that hopefully has less potential to be a bust considering the draft picks we gave up...the guys only 21 though.
pretty exciting, but I"m kinda reserved about it...he scored 36 goals on a realy talented Bruins team, i'm a bit skeptical to see how he's gonna adapt to stajan, ponikarovskiy and john mitchell.
Who gives a shit about this hopeless poor excuse for an NHL team and their shit players. They suck shit. Let's cheer on Canada's team the Canucks!! Go Canucks Go!! Here we come Lord Stanley!! Get ready!!

I was a bit troubled when i heard a first and a second in 2010, and a 1'st in 2011, let's hope he does as good or better this yera like last year.
Also, I don' thing toskala will last another full year in toronto. I agree with the people who are saying vesa's going to go
bijm007 2 years ago
Yes because TML 1st round draft picks have been historically very good. Players like Drake Berehowsky, Brandon Convery, Eric Fichaud, Jeff Farkas, Jeff Ware, Nik Antropov, Luca Cereda, and Carlo Coliacovo have all made their mark in draft bust history (with the possible exception of Antropov and Coliacovo). Really when was the last time the leafs draft 2 decent 1st round picks? Answer: 1985 (Clark) and 1986 (Damphousse) but beyond that we are among the worst draft team in professional sports.
Vantom91 2 years ago
You notice that most of the ones that you named were from JFJ? Get with the times. These Leafs are different. The players are different. The office is different. These Leafs are looking good.
Also, did you forget about Luke Schenn? He's definitely an up-and-coming superstar and he might even be the captain of the Leafs one day. Also, Nazem Kadri is looking great. He might need a few years in the minors but right now, it looks as though that he could actually start the season off with the Leafs.
robinder93 2 years ago
Actually none of those are from John Fergusson Jr. Most are from Cliff Fletcher's 1st go as GM. JFJ traded most of his 1st rounders off. I specifically left off Luke Schenn and Nazem Kadri because they are far too young to tell where their career is going. It demonstrates a bigger problem in the leafs organisation: Our scouting SUCKS terribly, and while it has been getting better lately, its still amongst the worst in professional sports. Now since we can't buy our way, the team suffers
Vantom91 2 years ago
Although his stats look bad, you have to look at who he played with last year, which wasn't greatest.
robinder93 2 years ago
There's also Ken Dryden and Pat Quinn in there as well, but all of the picks I said were from Cliff Fletcher. My original point is that I like this trade because we got a very young and established player for three unknown picks. 2010 is looking like a weak draft year anyway (unless you think the leafs are a bottom 3 team, which I dont)
I certainly hope Schenn, Kadri and even Tlustly work out, but Kessel I feel is less of a risk then all three of those.
Vantom91 2 years ago
So overall, the trade was awesome, and Kessel will be a huge asset for the Leafs, especially since we know that he can play great.
robinder93 2 years ago
Plus hes great on Shootouts (something we desperately needed) as all leaf fans are painfully aware of, If our team was even average at shootouts we would have had at least 2 playoff births in these past four years.
Vantom91 2 years ago
Boston won that trade hands down (ima leafs fan) burke had a chance this year to get a player whose plays are equal to kessel, remember how heatley wanted to leave ottawa and come to toronto? ye, and burke didnt take him because he was pals wit h the senators gm, that wuuda gave us a great player for wut cuuda been some d-men, also, if gustavsson proves all the hype coming because of him WAS true and steps up, we will say goodbye to vesa and kaberle, for some draftpicks at the trade deadline!

No offense but Kessel is a good player but if he only performs when he wants to, and thats from a Kessel fan when he was a Bruin.

good bye kessel! Hope you guys suck this year, nothing personal but I'd like that 2010 1st round pick to be very high up on the list ;)

If Gustavsson shines, I expect Burke to try to shop Toskala to get a first-rounder back at the trade deadline.

bruins didnt have the cap space to keep kessel at a number he liked; also due to the lack of cap space, the bruins couldnt take on one of our d-men.
thehockeymaster012 2 years ago
i think it was a fair trade cuz the next couple drafts are weak and kessel but i agree they should get rid of some of those d-men
canucklehead4ever 2 years ago
Tough to say who won. On one side, you could say Boston wins because they acquired 2 first round picks and so on. But Kessel was a first round pick and they sent him packing three years later. On the other side, you could say Toronto wins because they got Kessel and fill in a spot they really needed to fill in. However, Kessel is a risk health-wise so we don't know what to expect from him in a Leafs shirt. We'll have to wait and see how it pans it before really judging this one.
CrimsonSkorpion 2 years ago
i think this is good for the leafs, they gained a skilled foward to rack up even more goals but on the down side they lost 2 first round draft picks, maybe burke will trade away some of those unnesscery defencemen he has stockpiled for another 1st round draft pick for the 2010 draft

i think it was a win win for both teams.. Leafs got their elite forward. Bruins got picks that they can swap for forwards/ Defense at the deadline if they need them for the playoffs..
canadianbud420 2 years ago
wasn't the 2011 draft supposed to be really shallow? Why didn't the leafs give up one of our millions of defenseman instead of so many picks!!
mrFantasticfan111 2 years ago
perfect move for the leafs we seriously need a right winger and a goal scorer i think he should play with stajan since he got 40 assists last season so he has a good playmaker and blake on the left wing i think he was a lot we give up for 2 first rounder and a second but o well the 2011 draft is gonna he shit anyways so we only lose 1 round and 2nd round pick

boston could end up being the winner in this deal lets just say the leafs end up with the 10th pick this year and the 15th pick next year and kessel underachievs
just my .2 cents

wardzig1993 2 years ago
Kessel will crumble under the pressure of playing in Toronto. He's american, he has no idea what he is in for. Stop Twatting dude, what are you 12?
stilleavy 2 years ago
Yeah, much like how Jason Blake can't handle the pressure of being in Toronto, right? That yank was only Toronto's point/goal leader last year.
That being said, as a Bruins fan, I'm torn on the Kessel deal. Shipping away young talent is quintessential Bruins management, but the picks they got for him are pretty tantalizing. We'll just have to wait and see how he pans out in Toronto.
KrankesDasein 2 years ago
This looks like a solid deal assuming Kessel scores 35 + Goals

Well as I'm sure many have pointed out there are 2 big Q's yet to be answered to see of this deal is good or not. If the Leafs bomb this year (or next) and those 1st's ends up being Top 5 Picks then......yeesh. Also, Kessel had Savard setting him up all year, unless the Leafs get a bonafide play maker Kessel's numbers will likely dip.

i am hoping the leafs don't finish to low now so that boston doesn't get to good of a pick
ooder1 2 years ago
hes got some good shootout moves
kevinjj001 2 years ago
Here's the deal. Burke overpaid, big time. I don't think Kessel is a natural goal scorer. I think he's a byproduct of an offensively dominant Bruins team. Not to mention he played on a line with arguably the most underrated playmaker in hockey. Kessel's big year was due to a stacked Bruins team and Marc Savard. I wouldn't give him too much individual credit. I'm not a Bruins fan, but I think the Bruins made a smart move here. Burke can be so idiotic sometimes.
tino561 2 years ago 3
I somehow have to agree with you, I feel its hard to give Kessel a title when he's had nothing but inconsistent seasons, on a Bruins team with stacked lines.

nhlfan0 2 years ago 2
I don't think so...the 2010 draft looks weak, unless you are in the top 2 or 3...what are the chances of drafting a player as good as Kessel in the mid 1st round?
Plus, Burke has been signing young talented players over the past 6 months....the cupboard is looking more respectable.
carmie1818 2 years ago
Since we have players like Bozak, Hanson, Stalberg, Gunnarson and Gustavsson, those 1st round picks don't seem as much of a big deal
Plus, we could always get one back for a player like Kaberle if we're not a playoff team by trade deadline
LeafsandRaptors 2 years ago
if kabby waives the no trade.
dloghin 2 years ago
That's true
LeafsandRaptors 2 years ago
Don't forget that the 2nd round pick sent to Boston was for 2nd round pick 2011 and 3rd round pick in 2011 in a trade with Chicago. If I got that right, we only got, 3rd in 2010 and 4th in 2011 as higher picks in the next drafts...
That also mean that we won't be able to buy any good player for draft picks at the upcoming deadline.
I like the trade, but it's very very risky one.
Greetings from Switzerland.

tino561 2 years ago
Risky move, this trade could pay out for both teams. Last year kessel had a break out year with a much better supporting cast then here in toronto but lets hope he can keep it up.
POW22POW22 2 years ago
Good for Boston werent going to be able to sign him anyways cause he wanted over 5 mill and when your only a one way player who is inconsistent at sometimes and hot sometimes is a lot. Plus we have cap now free to spend maybe on a solid player..still some good unrestricteds out there..his hustle at times is questionable he was benched in 08 playoffs cause he wasnt doing anything pretty much not trying
ostrand006 2 years ago
i waited all night for this to post. it was a gr8 pick up for the leafs, burk said kessell is a first round pick so that covers one and his college pick ups will replace the other first and second i almost agree but it would have been nice to have those players and our first rounders still. i mean as of now we dont pick till 3rd round next year and second round the year later. u say we wont pick a phil kessel in our draft position but we wont even pick a player with a chance in the third imo
richguymcfat 2 years ago
Toronto won that deal. You get a proven goal-scorer on your team, and boston gets 2 picks that could end up being busts...

barrytron3030 2 years ago 2
The Leafs scare me a little bit given the extreme Burke makeover, and not just because they beat the Flyers in the Preaseason 4-0. Well tonight should be a different story.
Good on them getting Kessel though I do think it was a bit overpayment. But still a bird in hand is better than two in the bush.
chaosof99 2 years ago
its gonna be a few years to see who got the better deal in this trade. i mean....phil is a great player ,but he still has a lot to live up to and can he do that after surgery?? You have NO IDEA how excited I am! This cements us in a playoff position in my opinion! This guy is only getting better. Welcome to Toronto Phil!
And as for the high price... true, it is a high price, but I'm thinking about it this way... those picks will be mid-to-late first round... there's no way we would draft a guy like Phil at that position in the draft. Now they are 3 picks, but Burke did an amazing job picking up prospects this year, so I'm not too torn up about it.
Heffiewiggle 2 years ago
Excited. What for? Christmas coming soon? Ya, me too.
tino561 2 years ago
I think he made a smart move, he stated that Phil Kessel would do alot better than most of the drafts, and plus prob wouldnt put up 36 goals. Hes 21, scored 36, I think he will be amazing in Toronto.
Bozak - Stalberg - Kessel
That would be an awesome line.
Peace!
JonathanTheHurricane 2 years ago
lmao @ the Kanye West reference...
this is no doubt a big move, and one that hopefully has less potential to be a bust considering the draft picks we gave up...the guys only 21 though.
pretty exciting, but I"m kinda reserved about it...he scored 36 goals on a realy talented Bruins team, i'm a bit skeptical to see how he's gonna adapt to stajan, ponikarovskiy and john mitchell.
