I'm getting the impression that some people feel that they're somehow superior to others because of their personal preferences in different versions of "Life is a Highway". Nahh, that would just be stupid wouldn't it.
Sorry to say it, but Tom Cochrane actually wrote and performed the original. Either way, no one can beat good old LeDoux-Legend. If you beg to differ just look up "Life is a Highway".
This is my youngest sons absolute most favorite song ever! He is a HUGE Chris LeDoux fan! Had the CD/DVD and after he wore out the CD, we had to watch the DVD over and over and over and...well you get the idea ;o) I have this on my phone and play it at my sons grave. We played this at his funeral, along with other Chris LeDoux songs from the DVD, during a slide-show of Casey and then had 'Bang a Drum' w/Chirs and Jon Bon Jovi played during Casey's service.
@jeremiah0bobbiejo FUCKIN A RIGHT buddy. fuck those rip off fags. they fuckin covered it and fucked it up. the song is supposed to have additude. when rascal flatts covered it he sounded like he was just recovering from a brutal ass raping and still had a lil bitch to him fuck rascal flatts.
@razor12331 Nope: "Life Is a Highway" is a song written by Tom Cochrane, from his 1991 album Mad Mad World. The song was Cochrane's most famous song, as it was a number one hit in his native Canada. The song also peaked at number six on the Billboard charts in the United States in 1992. The song has been famously covered by Rascal Flatts for the Cars soundtrack, as well as by Chris LeDoux and Jerry Jeff Walker."
Why can't these people communicate without foul language? Turn a great song without cussing into a mess! Go to first grade and learn vocabulary! Great song Chris LeDoux!
Chris LeDoux was a dear friend and he will always be held higher than all others in my mind, when i see him on the other side of those pearly gates me and him will crack open a cold one and sit back and swap rodeo stories just like the good old times... we miss you R.I.P
rascal flatts music sucks i hate it they ruined this song i dont even know why they play them on country stations about like lady antebellum and the band perry ect
I started collecting Chris Ledoux music when I was in high school in 1980. Can't believe it took everyone else so long to discover the singing cowboy.
Chris was an awesome singer. I remeber listening to his tapes back in high school. To bad he passed away. I just turned my 20 year old friends kid onto him as well. Chris was a real time cowboy.
Chris LeDoux chose an area, that I know quite well for a lot of the footage. Growing up in L.A. it's an honor that a legend chose my hometown to film his video. I like Tom's original version and Chris' far better than Rascal Flatts. At least neither Tom or Chris sound like a whining 4 year old through out the song.
@rodeorockfan28 Not really a whining 4 year old, and there isn't really anything wrong with their version of the song either. They are actually singing the song in the key that it would be sung in if it wasn't a country song (and therefore somehow justifying the origonal versions not really singing it out loud.) They converted the song from being country themed and thus actually sung the song as it would have been by anyone else covering the song.
@Black101Jack101 the whining four year old thing is my opinion. I do not like that RF gets the credit for introducing this song to Country fans either. That is not true.
Pretty good on this transposition to C major. (I'm used to the F major of both Cochrane's 1991-vintage #1 single in Canada and Rascal Flatts' cleaned-up and chorused-up rework of 2006.)
every cowboy had a chris ledoux cassette in a old radio out by the roping pen. before most people even knew his name exsept for the real cowboys. then garth brooks mentions his name in one of his songs and it went sky high then. lol rip chris.

Funny, before Garth came on the scene I'd never heard of him 'cept in passing. Never heard anything he'd done. Being from GA and him being regionalized at the time. I never met the man but a friend turned me on to him and I truly began to love the man. And no, I am heterosexual. Not that way but as a older brother. A true friend who I only knew through his songs. I'm a singer myself and I don't have a hard on for stars, pardon the phrase. We all put our pants on one leg at a time. God made us
@singingcowboy674 all special. We're all equal. So it wasn't that I was star struck though I did respect him as an artist. Not sure what it was. I cried when I heard about his passing. Hell, I didn't even cry when Johnny Cash passed. There was just something about what country was all about that exuded from Chris. I wish I'd of had a chance to meet him and I know one day I will. Believe he is the only one as far as artists that I actually desire to actually sit down and get to know.
@singingcowboy674 He wasn't my dearest friend but he damn sure meant a lot to me. I tried to write a song about him after I was passing through Kacey, WY and stopped in and met his daddy-in-law. Heh, me and that old timer sat and talked I guess the better part of two hours. Never had even met him before. Pretty much just talked about Chris who was in business with him at this tack shop. Bout every 15 min or so I'd catch myself getting choked up. I kept apologizing but he assured me it was ok.
@singingcowboy674 Said he meant a lot to a lots of folks. I wrote a tribute to Chris I'd like to share. It was gonna be a song but I drew a blank in the middle so Chris buddy, if you're paying attention up there which I don't know why you would be, this is for you....
America ran through his veins, A cowboy through his bones,

Chris is country at it's finest without a doubt. If you can't apperciate this you need to be listening to a different type of music. Then again, country really isn't country now-day's. guess that's why the classic's are worthy of being called a classic.
@1992camarorallysport You tell'em but it is really western originally they called it country western now just country The West Begins In Fort Worth Greetings from TEXAS
love this song.. Chris is best at it but tbe lyrics Kick ... & I love sexy undertone... life is a highway & i want to ride it all night long.. I will go with you
Seriosly Tommy C is the only one who can sing this. Just give up. I'm a rascall Flats fan and I still don't feel like he came anywhere close to the original.
bond2621 all i have to say is fuck you. leave good country folks alone you towel headed son of a bitch. chris ledoux IS country, rascall fags are a cheep ass boy band. you wouldnt know the difference probably because you like to take it in the ass. so go take a dick and leave this life
way better than the rascall fags, they covered this song right after he passed, thats bs. toms is good, but chris beats all. you cant beat straight up country that chris puts out there, if you dont like chris why would you even watch the video. chris ledoux was and still is a legend and will never be forgotten. rest in peace Mr. LeDoux.
Wow, this version is nothing compared to the original. Tom Cochrane's original was by far the best. Even the Rascal Flatts version was better than this one. Just my opinion.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
this is shit compared to tom cochrane, lets just say, this is the worst of the remakes, not even the tune, his singing is good and his other songs are alright, but sorry to say, this so shit.
thats assinine fuck you show some respect do you know how hard it is to make and play songs. chris ledoux is one of the best singers in the world you faget
i am not the biggest fan of country music but i think tom's version is the best not saying that other versions of the song isnt good Chris ledoux was a great artist RIP
The best of all time! there is no question...he lived it, sang about it, and believed it. Try finding that in the junk thats on the radio today....(rescal flatts)
i wouldnt call real cowboys "rednecks" to their face unless you want to see what a ride on a cot in an ambulance is like.Chris was a REAL cowboy singing songs for REAL cowboys and cowgirls and was not only a gentleman but a great friend to many.
@cowtoy101 Your right, but there are some "real" cowboys that are big rednecks. My bro for instance, hes done everything from bronc riding, to bull riding. he's the biggest redneck I know.
@cowtoy101 LMFAO @ you.. My brother is biggest reckneck Former Marine you will ever meet. He has stomped plunty of people even befor he was a Gunner. he don't get pissed over being called a redneck he smiles with pride. Still wears tight wranglers and a cowboy hat.. So much for what you think... Most cow boys, rednecks, farm boys, boys from the woods. they are all cool most are willing to help for free. I don't know what crap your smoking. but that comment is not true. I was raised on farms.
@cowtoy101 A real cowboy knows that a redneck is someone who has a sunburn from workin his ass off out side doing real jobs. He will point that out well he is cleaning the pavement with your face. Dont forget he has to imbed a good lesson to you as he imbeds your face into the ground.
@screwlost42 well for fun for the past 26 years my playmates were 2000 pound rodeo bulls because i was a Pro Rodeo Bullfighter/Barrelman and i retired last year, not only that i was born and raised on a cattle/horse ranch so i know a little about Cowboying and also Rednecks, around here Rednecks work on farms and Cowboys work on ranches and we get along fine with each other.
@cowtoy101 oh yeah I know the difference just sayin that redneck aint an insult to a real redneck. Not sayin cowboys are rednecks. I have worked on ranches and farms and am niether a cowboy or a farmer but I know better than to cross words with either unless you like as you said "to ride in a cot in the ambulance to the hospital" happy new year n stuff.
@screwlost42 i met a lot of cute nurses riding on a cot in an ambulance to the hospital, just as the saying goes "ride bulls, bust broncs,,,meet nurses"
@cowtoy101 I don't think that generalization is true for everybody. (Yeah, I know I'm being a smart alec.) I'm practically a redneck. I'm not born into it--not really, but I've embraced it for about three years (and speaking as a teenager, that's a lot). I'm currently "brain-swaggled" by a cowboy, I listen to country music all the time, and I miss riding terribly. I joke about it a bit, but that's the only way I get to talk about it as much as I want to.
I don't get it with the negativity, I like this just as much as Tom Cochrane's both videos don't really have much to do with the song and I always just dug the song so stop knocking this guy he's good in my opinion.
this song has very little feeling. tom cochranes video shows you what he wanted to trasmit with the song, this video shows you the literal meaning of the lyrics... no color
I cant say enough how much you enriched my life Chris. I danced in alot of barns in the dirt just too see you and loved you performing at the Grizzly Rose in Denver. The world lost a part of our history when passed but I know somewhere your making music for true blue Cowgirls!!!
Hrm. Personally, I think Tom owns this song with his heart and soul! Flatt's cover was meh, didn't like it much. Didn't like this one much either. But hey, just my opinion. Tom's copy <3
Rascal Flatts and Chris LeDoux don't even belong in the same sentence! People who think Rascal Flatts are better aren't true (country) fans. Taking nothing from RF, because they have good music but it's not exactly country. Chris LeDoux wasn't trying to make a ton of money with this he was having fun covering a song he liked. Adding his own stamp on it with the crazy video. He did the music for fun and did it all his way. He didn't care if people liked it or not. Chris was a lovable nut!
@GoodOlRudy someone changed the lyrics to make it american. written by a canadian using world cities changed to all american cities for chris's version. like chris but rascal used original lyrics.

bond2621 all i have to say is fuck you. leave good country folks alone you towel headed son of a bitch. chris ledoux IS country, rascall fags are a cheep ass boy band. you wouldnt know the difference probably because you like to take it in the ass. so go take a dick and leave this life
TheRorylewis 1 year ago
way better than the rascall fags, they covered this song right after he passed, thats bs. toms is good, but chris beats all. you cant beat straight up country that chris puts out there, if you dont like chris why would you even watch the video. chris ledoux was and still is a legend and will never be forgotten. rest in peace Mr. LeDoux.

Wow, this version is nothing compared to the original. Tom Cochrane's original was by far the best. Even the Rascal Flatts version was better than this one. Just my opinion.

this is shit compared to tom cochrane, lets just say, this is the worst of the remakes, not even the tune, his singing is good and his other songs are alright, but sorry to say, this so shit.

i wouldnt call real cowboys "rednecks" to their face unless you want to see what a ride on a cot in an ambulance is like.Chris was a REAL cowboy singing songs for REAL cowboys and cowgirls and was not only a gentleman but a great friend to many.
cowtoy101 2 years ago 39
@cowtoy101 Your right, but there are some "real" cowboys that are big rednecks. My bro for instance, hes done everything from bronc riding, to bull riding. he's the biggest redneck I know.
redneckmechanic94 1 year ago
@cowtoy101 LMFAO @ you.. My brother is biggest reckneck Former Marine you will ever meet. He has stomped plunty of people even befor he was a Gunner. he don't get pissed over being called a redneck he smiles with pride. Still wears tight wranglers and a cowboy hat.. So much for what you think... Most cow boys, rednecks, farm boys, boys from the woods. they are all cool most are willing to help for free. I don't know what crap your smoking. but that comment is not true. I was raised on farms.
BIueCameI 1 year ago
@cowtoy101 A real cowboy knows that a redneck is someone who has a sunburn from workin his ass off out side doing real jobs. He will point that out well he is cleaning the pavement with your face. Dont forget he has to imbed a good lesson to you as he imbeds your face into the ground.
screwlost42 1 year ago
@screwlost42 well for fun for the past 26 years my playmates were 2000 pound rodeo bulls because i was a Pro Rodeo Bullfighter/Barrelman and i retired last year, not only that i was born and raised on a cattle/horse ranch so i know a little about Cowboying and also Rednecks, around here Rednecks work on farms and Cowboys work on ranches and we get along fine with each other.
cowtoy101 1 year ago
@cowtoy101 oh yeah I know the difference just sayin that redneck aint an insult to a real redneck. Not sayin cowboys are rednecks. I have worked on ranches and farms and am niether a cowboy or a farmer but I know better than to cross words with either unless you like as you said "to ride in a cot in the ambulance to the hospital" happy new year n stuff.
screwlost42 1 year ago
@screwlost42 i met a lot of cute nurses riding on a cot in an ambulance to the hospital, just as the saying goes "ride bulls, bust broncs,,,meet nurses"
cowtoy101 1 year ago
@cowtoy101 I don't think that generalization is true for everybody. (Yeah, I know I'm being a smart alec.) I'm practically a redneck. I'm not born into it--not really, but I've embraced it for about three years (and speaking as a teenager, that's a lot). I'm currently "brain-swaggled" by a cowboy, I listen to country music all the time, and I miss riding terribly. I joke about it a bit, but that's the only way I get to talk about it as much as I want to.
sobratogirl 1 year ago
I don't get it with the negativity, I like this just as much as Tom Cochrane's both videos don't really have much to do with the song and I always just dug the song so stop knocking this guy he's good in my opinion.
lookingforlennon 2 years ago
this song has very little feeling. tom cochranes video shows you what he wanted to trasmit with the song, this video shows you the literal meaning of the lyrics... no color

Hrm. Personally, I think Tom owns this song with his heart and soul! Flatt's cover was meh, didn't like it much. Didn't like this one much either. But hey, just my opinion. Tom's copy <3
TheBlakeWilson 2 years ago
Rascal Flatts and Chris LeDoux don't even belong in the same sentence! People who think Rascal Flatts are better aren't true (country) fans. Taking nothing from RF, because they have good music but it's not exactly country. Chris LeDoux wasn't trying to make a ton of money with this he was having fun covering a song he liked. Adding his own stamp on it with the crazy video. He did the music for fun and did it all his way. He didn't care if people liked it or not. Chris was a lovable nut!

@GoodOlRudy Chris LeDoux was the last of the real shit kickin cowboy singers. Most of what's outy htere now are a bunch of wannabees.
