how do suppose these people are able to buy things like gasoline or salt or coffee or any other commodity that they can not produce with in the community? All amish everywhere depend on "english taxi's" to travel farthur then 20 miles or so. Do they pay these non-amish people in gold? Then are non-amish exempt fom income tax also. Also many amish work in construction or furniture making. How do these amish remain exempt. Though idealistic, your comments are not realistic.

I happened to grow up next to an amish community in Minnesota, not all Amish are the same you know, maybe your Amish people you know pay taxes but the ones i know have a clear exemption under the law. Also i have gone through college and studied law especially constitutional law and i know as a matter of law, you do have a legal exemption to not paying taxes if you do not trigger a taxable event i.e. making income. if you make property instead of income no tax is due until its sold!
