Shooting the AK47 at 400 Meters

400 meters is hard for me.

we were hitting a 2'x4' steel plate at about 350-400 meters with a Romanian Wasr 10 with iron sights. hit the target about 50% of the time. pretty remarkable for a bottom of the barrel ak

Excellent shooting for iron sights. I mounted a rail on my Yugo underfolder, put a red dot scope and couldn't keep it zeroed - the recoil knocked it off every time I got close. So how did you mount a scope? I would love to try again with a 'real' scope, instead of a dot. Thank you for this video encouragement.

Optics are tough on an AK

That I know, but I did find some videos here where AKs have a rail on the left side of the receiver from the factory (mine doesn't). A UTG 973 or another (easy off) adapter attaches, which goes up the side and over the top of the receiver, giving the AK a side rail and a top rail. Lots of hardware, but at least it's possible. Iron sights are unusable, however, unless one gets the easy off one and removes it. I may mount a rail on my receiver side and try this.

I live in the mountains and the ak47 is the gun i use for BEARS.

i would like to see it shoot 400 yards with a scope, and about 20 rounds. no one has it on the youtube, i would do it but i can only see about 250 yards on my farm

@akshooter762 actually it is for 7.62 x 54R ..its a mosin nagant scope...and i have an ak-47..it has a long barrel...longer than RPK-47...a bit longer :D...ive never seen that kind of AK on the net...maybe you can wait 2 weeks till i make the video... :D

@ its not a PSL ..literally its an ak-47 but the barrel is very long.. and the scope i have is P/U Scope..ive mounted it on ak..but it sux..ive ruined it all its gross now lol..

@AdmiralGST yes it is meant for 7.62x54r.. the ak was made in albania..and the barrel is 23 inches long..the way i own that ak its illegal..its fully automatic.. but the rate of fire is kinda slow about 500-550 rpm..

@bllw69 i would do it, but i dont have a camera and always spend my money on other thing's....but if your wondering, i have a wasr 10/63....last time i went shooting at about 80 yards.(longest i can do in the summer) with me prone, letting the gun rest on the mag, i shot 15 rds. 9 of them was within like 3 inchs 5 was in a 4 inch area, and 1 made the total group size 6inch's..it started raining, and got pretty windy b4 i started shooting, so i put 15 down range fast(about 30 sec. or faster)

@akshooter762 I heard around 4-6" is normal for 100 yards. Not many guys put scopes on them.

@bllw69 with good ammo and a bipod i can get them all in 3inchs, but i really only bought the scope because i need contacts but the scope was cheaper. and when i get my savage .308 i can put this scope on it till i get a better scope

ak 47s are good but only on full auto at close range because of there accuracy but civilians can't get them in full auto

i took my ak out today and i was shooting at 410 yards. it did very well. next time i go out to the range i will make a video and show ya.

Thanks, easy to say, but this one was difficult to shoot since the sight has been modified for quick 'close range' shooting.

Next time we go out to this range we'll bring a "standard' AK47 along and I suspect we'll do even better..
