I like the music, but when Black Flag played with them, Wattie told the audience there was a mod band playing down the street, and to go and beat the fans up after the concert. Rollins thought he was one of the biggest assholes he ever met, and I'd agree with Henry. BF blew them off the stage that night. The difference between Wattie and Rollins, was that Rollins regularly beat up "fans" who tried to punch him on stage.
It's very good. Well worth a read, especially if you like early punk stuff. Lots of great photos as well. You can get it at 2.13.61 dot com. That's henry's website - it's his d.o.b. I'd recommend keeping an eye out for his spoken word tours. He comes to the UK at least once a year. Saw him in hammersmith a few years ago. Three hours non stop. If you hang around after the show, he actually talks to fans, and you can grab a photo with him. Value for money!
Yeah, TOTP played it in 81' and all the way across the pond we picked it up in Cali. It was a whole living punk movement. We felt it hard. From Fender's Ballroom in Long Beach to the mighty Olympic in LA., it represented. We laughed and cried through it all. The Family, FFF, Venice Suicidals and all the rest, we rode hard and some of us did time. Some died and some like me stayed alive. Never give in. Always remember where ever you go there you are. Remember watching this in the youth club at the time! It was awesome. Saw these dudes half a dozen times all over the Northwest at the time. Manchester Mayflower was a top venue for the likes of these :-)
