  • @jboozey1 Take it after...the rule of thumb is 30 minutes after the last rep ..so with 25 minutes of cardio you will be done just in time for that shake:)...plus taking protein then doing cardio immediately will give you a stomach ache depending on how hard you're going

  • I want to take whey protein before working out, but I keep getting Upset stomachs because of my IBS (it is a stomach problem)..

    I am stuck at 185 for like 6 reps - I guess because I always go to the gym feeling like shit, but feel better afterwards.

  • God this guy is stupid. I can't stand this bullshit. If the guy would give some argumentation with it, I would try to discuss it, but this is just nonsense.

    First of all he acts as if protein shakes are the "holy grail" of gaining mass. Any bodybuilder however could gain mass perfectly without any protein shake! As long as you get your protein, no matter from which source.

    Also; just get your amount of protein in each meal: 5-6 meals a day, 2-3 hours apart. That's all. Cut the crap.

    Have a preworkout meal as well... With a complex carb... Noticeable difference!

  • @WalmartBiker Correct! Also, i would say you should be careful not to take too much whey either. Too much milk protein through the day can cause an upset stomach in the long run. Also, it´s expensive to take several shakes a day. I stay with 5 grams of creatine before my workout with a carb/protein meal. Then 5 grams of creatine and a whey protein shake after. That´s it for me, and it works just fine.

  • Play Ray how soon are you eating a real meal before you go to the gym? I eat about 45-60min before the gym and at least 70g of carbs and I'm good. I have had better workouts with a lower protein and high carbs meal before.

  • Too much protein reeks havoc on the Liver and Kidneys. Do the research. A lot of these Big muscle guys do not live very long lives. Proteins are Amino Acids. Amino Acids come from PLANTS. If you want protein - EAT VEGETABLES - Not "Scoops of Protein".

We are electrical energy beings and the green chlorophyll we consume from plant sources are high vibrational sources of LIFE energy.   • I take one before and after I workout. If I don't before I find I get hungry because I workout in the morning so that and a banana is my morning breakfast. Afterwards I have a shake with a small bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats w/ Almonds.

  • QUESTION RAY: The two times hgh are produced is sleep and lifting weights. Close to bedtime you don't have any carbs to spike the insulin because insulin stops the production of hgh. My question is wouldn't spiking your insulin post (or even pre) workout stop the production of hgh created from the gym?

  • From what I've heard, you are benefiting more from taking protein 45mins after the workout and no sooner, within the first 30mins it should be carbs from fruit and veg eg a shake. Can you tell me what the theory is behind that?

    What I understand so far, it is easier for your body to utilize protein and amino acids when your in a more anabolic state(45mins after workout) and during the first 30mins after the carbs from fruit will give you the insulin spike that aids in assimilation of amino acids

  • RAY!!!! do u drink milk or chocolate milk ever for ur protein? or sum? i dont take any supplements and chocolate milk and food are my post workout meal. lots of milk. like 2 32 oz cups full within the hour. seems to work for me. arms are gettin bigger. although its hard for me to gain weight working 10 hr days 6 days a week. any tips? or foods with a bunch of calories and protein? thanks and peace.

  • @dgarver1992 that's fine, it has casein in it too which is slow-digesting protein dude. That is fine for what you're doing. People mix milk and a protein shake but that's usually when they want more calories to bulk. Like I said you're fine man

  • @dgarver1992 its good period haha I mean 8oz if like 8g protein right? so 8oz times 3 serving is 24g protein which is basically a scoop full of whey. for bulking i'm guessin you have around 40-48oz which would be 40-48gr protein. As long as its fat free milk you're fine dude. milk is good for you anyway haha i wouldnt worry man. Just dont have a lotta cereral!!
