I converted my house to CFLs throughout  - they are a completely useless. They take ages to come on, the light they produce is so gloomy that it is hard to read and despite the claims for long life – all the bulbs had to be replaced within a year – some of them had to be replaced within a few weeks and my electricity bill wasn’t reduced by one penny. CFL = completely failed lighting.
