  • I tried Squirrel once..a road kill! Pretty unique taste but because of the roadkill lots of broken crushed bones which was a hell of work to remove.

And not much meat in the first place!

Still quite a nice taste though...unique

  • i shot one in the head today, it jumped up and ran off. i couldnt find it, i felt pretty bad. hopefully its dead!

  • great, now i want squirrel. thanks MOhunting. anybody know where i can buy squirrel? there are none where i live lol

  • Don't knock it 'til you try it. Squirrel is good fried, in veggie soup, BBQ-ed, roasted, etc.

  • I need to know, who the hell eats squirrel?! Just like eating road kill (technically is, though without the killed on the road part)

  • The only way I would ever do that is if it were for my cat

  • Canned with a pressure cooker! Yummy, my wife says they taste like turkey dark meat? Good eats for sure.

  • I AM A POLISH , BUT IM AGREE WITH THIS. MAYBE SQUIRRELS ARE DELICIOUS. HMMM,WELL IM AFRAID ABOUT RABBIES IN MY COUNTRY.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

  • Anyone can find a squirrel in their backyard, yet they continue to kill beautiful cows and intelligent pigs without even thinking of a worthless squirrel...

  • @Chiliplease Why is the squirrel worthless? Just curious as to your opinion.

  • .........surreal.

  • ive cleaned many squirrels and i think the meat stinks

  • @aaronplant Usually means its a male squirrel, if u get one of them boil it in salt water for a few minutes before frying it up.

  • mushroom soup, ewwwww, that's stuff's nasty and high sodium. Just sub with some cream, cornstarch, etc....

  • I actually find it humorous that most of you wouldn't be able to eat a wild healthy animal after killing it, ripping its guts out and tearing off its skin. Yet, you'll go to the grocery store and eat meat from animals that never seen daylight and lived their lives in feces and urine. You have internet. Do some research if you are so grossed out.

  • You lost me with the mushroom soup.

  • Squirrels are eaten regularly in Cambodia, check out video F6C5zRG1SS4

    freaking awesome.

Fried, broiled , baked, breaded, in hot sauce, curry sauce, brazed, barbecued, in wine ....

  • they taste so damn good, i boil em for an hour with cajun seasonings, then i fry em with olive oil and flour with cajun seasoning mixed in it, its damn good

  • I've never had squirrel, friend of mine has had it numerous times, said its good. He is also from Missouri (St. Louis). I know people eat them, but the whole rodent thing for me is a big hurdle.

  • @cjacustomwoodworking rodent...it is only a word and look at is as survival food should a disaster happen.

  • CUT TWO SQUIRRELS INTO PIECES!?

  • sorry...but its not the most attractive item on the plate :P

  • dont they usually have rabbies

  • @JuStAnAsIaNboY not usually. Rabies kills animals, plus it's a brain and blood disease so, for the most part I think you'd be fine if it was fully cooked and properly cleaned.

  • SICK!

  • that looks pretty good do can you do one on deer nuggets?

  • Looks really good.

  • loooks yummay when your starving too death

  • How much wine do you add?

  • 1/4 cup

For more details on this recipe check out our website listed in the info box to the right of the video.

  • mmmm roadkill :) P.S. - I love how this video of cooking a squirrel landed itself in the middle of videos by the band Skillet. Gave me a good laugh, thanks

  • you ruined it with the mushroom soup.

Use a skillet, season the meat, flour, egg wash, then seasoned bread crumbs, fry on med heat, and it is delicious. Or grill it!

  • Have you ever tried rat? I bet it tastes like squirrel!

  • that will soon be the new american dream. a little rat meat some creek water and if your lucky a tarp over your head.

  • lmao there kin maybe so

  • shouldn't that be served with Nuts?

  • HEHEHE! YES, L.IKE YOU! ;)

  • LOL nice.

  • Comment removed

  • With all those ingredients, it seems like if you didn't add the squirrel no one would notice the difference!

  • why would you add all that soup and stuff to it, surely you're swamping the taste of the squirrel?

  • the soup makes a gravy i know some hunters use cream of mushroom in some game dishes to make that rich gravy. but i dont think id do squirrel lol. im a rabbit man myself lol

  • would this recipe be ok for house cat? Seen couple by the barn getting pellet gun out.

  • dont eat cats ya idiot you'd get prisoned by the nspca

  • personally i dislike cat, the meat is to stringy. dog however, is quite tasty. im a sucker for deep fried poodle

  • surely youre joking. i mean when i shoot house cats i just throw em out.

  • yeh probly would be ok..... i have cats and like them quite alot but if i had to i would eat them in a flash..

  • and americans bitch that other countries eat nasty stuff.

  • WARNING may contain nuts :-)

  • I don't think this lady knows how to cook a squirrel properly. Adding Cream of Mushroom soup was probably the achillies heal of this clip as now the cooked squirrel looks like barf. (You've added mushrooms, so why add the Cream of Mushroom soup to it?)

Squirrel probably is much better served as barbeque.

  • It is a very tasty treat. I'll have to try this recipe out. Last day to hunt is the 31st here in Indiana so I'm gonna try to get my bag limit each day.

  • we have black and grey squirrels here, are they any good for eating?

  • Grey squirrels are, Pretty sure black are too but we eat grey squirrels all the time!

  • Squirrel is so tasty. Only people have never eaten one compare it to a rat. It is actually really good! I have never eaten a gray squirrel, but fox squirrels are really good.

  • That actually looks surprisingly good. I would try it.

  • sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ummmmmmmm u make that look so good!!

  • Foul.

  • No, Foul is chickens and ducks and such. *chuckle*

  • a great american dish

  • Trailer park cookin huh?

  • Kamikazesound: More people need to eat Squirrel, because Americans are getting to be fat asses eating those processed foods that ya city folks claim as high class meals.

  • I'm pretty sure a "high class meal" doesn't denote "high fat." If it's French, and soaked in butter, then yes... otherwise I don't think I'd equate haute cuisine with unhealthy.

  • cool only thing is all i get is ground squerrles not the big tree ones

  • omg

  • But this is like eating rats!

  • Tree rats!

  • yummy rats!!!

  • cant you get like mad cow disease from eating squirrels?

  • um. no. its not a cow...

  • well you can't get mad cow disease, but you can get prion disease (a variant of mad cow disease) from eating the brain of an infected squirrel.

  • Yes! The cows get mad because you're not eating them!

  • whats wrong with eating squirrel?

  • Does it tast like CHICKEN!

  • No, it takes like a cross between lamb and duck.

They sell it in top restaurants in the UK as Flightless Pheasant.

  • that's kind of misleading. squirrels arent pheasants..

  • missour-eeeee not eh

  • missourah is how they say it there

  • I lived in Missouri all my life and never said or called it Missourah...

  • lol, squirrel, the other white meat. and damn tasty too.

  • Dinner...as easy as going in your backyard :P
